Chapter 51
Damien and Chloe selected an outdoor table and settled into their seats. With a nod of acknowledgment to the waiter, Damien requested an array of five teas and coffees, accompanied by three types of desserts. As the elderly waiter left, Chloe turned her gaze toward Damien.
“Your Grace, are we perhaps not ordering too much?” she asked cautiously.
“Did you not notice Robert’s eagerness to showcase the full range of delicacies that his café has to offer on the Duchess’s first visit?” Damien replied. “It is only polite to sample a bit of everything.”
“But what if we are unable to finish it all?”
“You need not worry about that.”
Chloe soon discovered that Damien’s assurance was not misplaced. After tasting the butter cake delicately adorned with small petals, she said in a measured tone, “Your Grace, might we purchase some cakes to take back for the servants?”
