----------------------------------------------------------
Outside a massive wall, countless demonic beasts were charging without pause.
This was the scene Shirou Emiya saw through the eyes of his familiars.
Seeing it, there was no way he could misunderstand where he was.
This was the Seventh Singularity of the Grand Order world.
The Absolute Demonic Front.
"I really didn't expect to come back to the Nasuverse," Shirou Emiya thought calmly, "and especially not here."
He was naturally familiar with Fate/Grand Order in his previous life. It was one of the most famous works in the Nasuverse. The story revolved around a human named Fujimaru Ritsuka-male or female-who used Spiritron Transfer to travel to distorted points in history caused by Goetia. Along the way, they formed bonds with Heroic Spirits and ultimately saved the world.
"It's one thing to land in the FGO world," Shirou Emiya muttered inwardly.
"But starting with the seventh chapter right away?"
That was something else entirely.
He knew exactly what the final enemy of the Absolute Demonic Front was.
Tiamat.
The Progenitor Goddess of Mesopotamian mythology.
One of the seven Beasts of Humanity.
The embodiment of the principle of regression.
In the original timeline, nearly everyone who appeared in the Seventh Singularity died to defeat her. And that was against a Tiamat who had sealed herself. If she had gone all out from the moment she encountered the protagonists, there would have been no possibility of victory at all.
Not in this world.
Besides her overwhelming power, what made Shirou Emiya feel even more helpless was something else.
He didn't actually need to appear here.
His presence or absence made no difference to the final outcome.
Tiamat had no concept of death. No matter how strong anyone was, it was meaningless until the Grand Assassin delivered the decisive blow that forced her to abandon her Grand Class. Once King Hassan completed that act, the rest of the battle was already decided. Victory was guaranteed. No extra hands were required.
"So... am I just here to leech off the Hero's Destiny?"
The thought passed through his mind with dry self-mockery.
Still, after that moment, Shirou Emiya found something he could do.
He could reduce allied casualties.
The fate of the characters in the original timeline had always left him with regret. Among them was someone he had a long and complicated history with.
Gilgamesh.
The King of Heroes.
Unlike his youthful Heroic Spirit self, the version of Gilgamesh here was already in his old age. A king who had learned restraint. A ruler who governed with wisdom rather than arrogance.
In the original timeline, Gilgamesh had overworked himself to death at one point. If Fujimaru Ritsuka and the others hadn't retrieved him from the underworld, the entire singularity would have ended right there.
Because of that, Shirou Emiya held genuine respect for this Wise King.
The grudges of different iterations were separate matters.
Shirou Emiya had no intention of carrying hatred across versions of the same person.
After confirming exactly which world and which moment he was in, Shirou Emiya relaxed.
This place was dangerous, yes.
But not yet.
At this point in time, he shouldn't encounter truly lethal threats casually. Before Tiamat's appearance, the enemies he needed to account for were limited.
Kingu, who could appear at any moment.
And Ishtar.
As for the other goddesses, their movements were predictable.
Gorgon should still be incubating new demonic beasts inside the enemy's main base.
Quetzalcoatl, the Venus goddess, should still be wrestling in the forest.
Ereshkigal, the goddess of the underworld, should still be collecting souls below, trying to bring them into her domain for protection.
For now, Shirou Emiya was unlikely to encounter any of them.
Only Ishtar-the urban goddess of Uruk-was someone he might realistically run into.
And frankly, Shirou Emiya didn't want to encounter her at all.
In other words, aside from Kingu and Ishtar, there were no enemies in this phase who could truly threaten him.
As for the demonic beasts?
To Shirou Emiya, they were no different from weeds.
Enemies meant to be cut down in a hack-and-slash game.
"Speaking of which," Shirou Emiya thought as he walked leisurely across the grass, "I wonder if Fujimaru Ritsuka in this world is male or female?"
After all, FGO had originally been a game.
As the protagonist, Fujimaru Ritsuka could be either.
The question lingered for only a moment.
His familiar, scouting the area ahead, sent new information.
This time, three figures entered Shirou Emiya's field of vision.
Three beautiful women.
"Oh."
A small smile formed at the corner of his lips.
"Looks like Fujimaru Ritsuka is female in this world."
The image showed three figures in orange, pink, and green.
They were Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash Kyrielight from Chaldea, and Kingu-the being created using the body of Gilgamesh's close friend, Enkidu.
At this moment, Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash had just arrived in this singularity. They had no information, no understanding of the situation.
And they were being deceived.
Kingu, posing as Enkidu, was leading them straight toward the enemy's lair.
"I really did arrive at the exact right moment."
After confirming the timeline, Shirou Emiya formed a complete plan for his next steps.
He would head toward Fujimaru Ritsuka and the others.
Get involved naturally.
Then, without raising suspicion, join the protagonist's party and enter Uruk legitimately.
Sneaking in wasn't an option anyway. According to his knowledge, Uruk was currently protected by a barrier. It couldn't be infiltrated.
More importantly, he wasn't here to steal anything.
He was here to help.
There was no reason to act in the shadows.
"Alright," Shirou Emiya decided.
"First stop-Fujimaru Ritsuka."
...
In the forest, Fujimaru Ritsuka and Mash followed "Enkidu" toward Uruk.
Confusion weighed on both of them.
According to what they knew, Uruk should have been in the opposite direction from where they were heading.
They exchanged glances, hesitating, unsure whether to voice their doubts.
Before either of them could speak, "Enkidu" noticed their hesitation.
"Are you concerned about the direction we're heading?" he asked calmly.
"Don't worry. There's a river ahead that flows directly to Uruk. We can take a boat from the dock there and reach the city quickly."
"This...?"
Mash's voice trailed off.
Fujimaru Ritsuka also remained uncertain.
Just then, a clear voice echoed from the side of the forest.
"Really? That's great news!"
"I didn't even know there was a dock up ahead!"
The sudden interruption startled them.
Two figures emerged from the trees.
One tall.
One short.
One male.
One female.
They stepped out of the forest and into view.
Fujimaru Ritsuka instinctively looked them over.
The man leading the pair was handsome, dressed in white robes, holding a wooden staff. His expression was relaxed, almost leisurely.
Behind him followed a short girl wrapped in a black cloak. Her presence was quiet, reserved.
Meanwhile, high above them, Shirou Emiya sat casually on a tree branch.
His Presence Concealment masked him completely.
He looked down at the group below, observing without urgency.
"Kingu."
"Fujimaru Ritsuka."
"Mash."
"Merlin."
"Ana."
Most of the story's main characters were already gathered.
A faint smile curved his lips.
"I'm really looking forward to what happens next."
From his vantage point, Shirou Emiya continued to watch.
Patiently.
