----------------------------------------------------------

On the flat road inside the town, Emiya Shirou and Rimuru walked side by side.

"You really defeated me just like that," Rimuru complained. "That's way too embarrassing."

"Losing to me isn't embarrassing," Emiya Shirou replied calmly.

"Then why couldn't you go a little easier on me? Just hold back a bit!"

"Hold back?" Emiya Shirou glanced at him. "I already gave you an entire ocean."

"..."

He couldn't win the fight.

He couldn't win the argument either.

Rimuru shut his mouth, choosing silence.

Emiya Shirou smiled, then paused slightly before speaking again.

"By the way, Rimuru. There's no structural difference between your human form and a real human, right?"

"There shouldn't be," Rimuru answered. He shook off the embarrassment and began carefully sensing his body as he spoke.

"I think."

"I see," Emiya Shirou said. "Then that means you can eat now."

"...Eat?"

Rimuru froze.

Then-

"Rigurd! Rigurd! Where are you?!"

"I'm here, Lord Rimuru."

Rigurd appeared instantly, as if he had been waiting for the call.

"Rigurd," Rimuru declared loudly, "I want to have a banquet! Prepare something delicious. I should be able to taste food now!"

"Lord Rimuru can eat again?" Rigurd's eyes widened. "That's wonderful news!"

"I'll order Rigur to prepare the finest ingredients immediately. Please rest assured, Lord Rimuru!"

"Then I'll leave it to you, Rigurd."

Watching Rimuru grin from ear to ear, Emiya Shirou couldn't help smiling as well. In his previous life, eating was an everyday thing. In this world, suddenly losing all sense of taste was something no ordinary person could calmly accept.

Stepping forward, Emiya Shirou added, "In that case, I'll prepare tonight's meal."

"Oh? Shirou cooking personally?"

As the best chef in the town, all of its cooks had been trained by Emiya Shirou himself. During instruction, he often cooked sample dishes for them. His cooking skill was no secret.

Now that he said he would cook personally, Rimuru and Rigurd started drooling before even tasting anything.

"I'll go tell Rigur to hunt right away!"

Rigurd vanished in a hurry, heading toward the outskirts of town.

Watching him leave, Emiya Shirou asked casually, "What are your plans next?"

"I'm going to test my new skills in the cave behind the town."

"I see. Go ahead. I'll just walk around."

With that, the two split up, heading in different directions.

Strolling through the rapidly developing town, Emiya Shirou felt something unfamiliar.

The sensation of countless people working toward a shared goal.

It was strangely captivating.

He spoke with goblins learning new techniques, guiding them through unfamiliar skills. He adjusted construction plans, corrected mistakes, and refined the layout of the town.

This city was being built from sweat, effort, and shared intent.

And that made Emiya Shirou genuinely happy.

While discussing standard equipment designs for future goblin troops with Kaijin and the others, Emiya Shirou suddenly paused.

From the forest.

Multiple magical auras were colliding.

"Ogres?"

The word surfaced immediately.

He broke into a run.

Recently, with everything surrounding Rimuru, the ogres had slipped to the back of his mind. Only now did he remember them.

"Things have changed," Emiya Shirou thought. "Rimuru didn't sense the danger beforehand, so he didn't send Ranga."

"But Gobta and Rigurd aren't what they used to be."

As these thoughts passed, Emiya Shirou landed silently on a tree trunk overlooking the battlefield.

Presence Concealment fully activated.

He emitted no aura at all.

Below him, the battle was already underway.

Among the dozen Hobgoblins who had gone out hunting with Rigurd and Gobta, five lay unconscious on the ground. They had clearly fallen to some form of sleep magic.

The remaining goblins, however-

To Emiya Shirou's surprise-

Were holding their own against six ogres.

Rigurd was barely suppressing the future Shion, though it was obvious he was struggling. After all, the Ogre Princess-future Souka-was unoccupied and could support Shion at any moment.

After their comrades collapsed, the eight remaining Hobgoblins became highly wary of Souka. Using coordinated techniques, they actually managed to restrain the future Hakurou.

But compared to Gobta-

They were nothing.

Holding a long spear, Gobta alone faced the combined attacks of the future Benimaru, Souei, and Hakurou.

And he was still standing.

Defending.

Holding them back.

To stall three opponents by himself was impressive.

Even Emiya Shirou acknowledged it.

Unexpected, but reasonable.

From the moment he evolved into a Hobgoblin, Gobta had been Emiya Shirou's personal training sandbag. His offense might still be lacking, but in terms of defense-

Even against an A-rank expert, he could endure.

After all, he had been defending against Emiya Shirou.

"Hey," a familiar voice called out. "What's going on here?"

Wearing the mask relic left behind by Shizue Izawa, Rimuru stepped out of the forest.

"Lord Rimuru!"

Rigurd's voice was filled with relief.

"My apologies, Lord Rimuru," Rigurd said quickly. "I was preparing dinner ingredients for you when we encountered enemies."

"We can worry about food later," Rimuru replied. "For now, stop fighting."

"Yes!"

Rigurd blocked Shion's strike and retreated immediately. Gobta and the Hobgoblins followed suit, pulling back in unison.

"What happened to them?" Rimuru asked, glancing at the fallen goblins.

"They were hit by sleep magic," Rigurd explained. "If we hadn't reacted in time, we would've been wiped out."

"Sleep magic, huh," Rimuru muttered. "That's annoying."

As he studied the ogres, a sharp voice rang out from their side.

"That monster looks evil!" Souka shouted. "Everyone, be careful!"

Her expression was tense, filled with fear.

"...You're talking about me, aren't you?" Rimuru said.

"Trying to confuse us?" Souka snapped. "You can control those monsters. Ordinary beings can't do that."

"You're wearing human skin, suppressing your demonic aura, and playing tricks!"

"Do you really think you can fool us?"

"Don't think you can escape the Princess's eyes. Reveal your true form!"

As soon as Souka spoke, Hakurou and Souei immediately aligned with her.

"The mastermind showed himself," Hakurou said coldly. "This is our chance."

"They're few in number," Souei added. "We can win."

Their killing intent surged.

Before this, they hadn't gone all out, uncertain whether Rigurd's group were truly enemies.

But now-

"Enough!" Benimaru roared. "If he won't tell the truth, we'll force it out of him!"

"He must explain his connection to the evil pig monster that attacked our tribe!"

Rimuru sighed.

"Looks like talking won't work," he said.

He rolled his shoulders, recalling the beating he had taken from Emiya Shirou earlier that morning.

"Do we have to fight first before talking?"

Then he raised his voice.

"Fine."

"Let's fight."
