"You mean Asher defeated Vortigern all by himself?"
Skadi looked up at Scathach , frowning slightly. "You know your disciple's strength better than I do. I also confirmed Vortigern's power when he became the Magic Dragon. A being of that caliber absolutely cannot be killed by a mere human."
"He dealt with Vortigern while he was still human, and after that, he used a Word of Power called 'Death' to restrict Vortigern's recovery speed," Scathach said softly.
"Word of Power of Death..." Skadi repeated, then shook her head. "Even so, I still find it hard to believe that a boy under seventeen could unleash a Word of Power of Death capable of restricting a Magic Dragon's recovery speed."
Scathach suddenly smiled. "Strength isn't determined by age. Otherwise, wouldn't the older one gets, the stronger one becomes?"
"Ugh..." Skadi raised her somewhat displeased eyes. "It's
easy for you to say 'damaging the enemy a thousand, damaging yourself eight hundred' so lightly."
"I don't actually particularly care," Scathach shrugged.
After all, her disciple wouldn't care about her age.
And isn't there a saying? The longer the wine is stored, the more fragrant it becomes... Mmm...
Skadi walked to the window. After a moment of silence, she said, "That last Magic Dragon was dealt with by Lily, wasn't it?"
"If you must say, it died after being severely wounded by me and my disciple, and then took a direct Light Cannon from Lily," Scathach paused slightly. "No, it wasn't even dead then."
"Killed by Morgan's machinations, wasn't it?" Skadi leaned against the wall, arms crossed, sighing with a 'tsk tsk'. "That goddess's cunning is truly deep."
Deceiving Vortigern, even going so far as to make a vow to feign cooperation with him, until in the end, he transferred all the White Dragon's power to Asher, wanting to occupy Asher's body, but unexpectedly being
dealt with by an unknown deity.
Morgan was not only ruthless to her enemies but also to her own people. Fortunately, the scabbard entering Asher's body was accelerating the healing of his injuries.
"By the way, it's been almost three days already, and Asher still hasn't woken up?" Skadi suddenly asked.
"Not yet," Scathach shook her head. "I find this a bit strange too."
Logically, after Morgan gave Asher the scabbard of the Caliburn, his injuries should have been healing very quickly, especially since he was now truly the White Dragon. But it had been three days already, and according to Scathach 's estimate, Asher should have woken up in less than two days.
Skadi frowned tightly, murmuring, "Did something happen after Vortigern's consciousness entered Asher's body? Or did the Word of Power of Death he released
exceed his own limits?"
"You seem very concerned about my disciple?" Scathach raised her eyes.
Skadi paused slightly, then lightly coughed. "Of course, but don't misunderstand, I don't care about him, but about that deity."
"That deceased deity?" Scathach repeated. "Haven't you still confirmed the identity of that deity?"
"It's basically confirmed," Skadi spread her hands. "The omnipresent authority, the Word of Power of Death, and the surging magic power. Besides that God-King, I can't think of any other deity."
"Do you mind if I take some blood now?" Skadi then asked.
"Are you so eager to confirm my disciple's identity?"
Scathach said slowly. "A little blood is fine, but do you know a way to prove his identity?"
"After your disciple left, I met a fellow with a wounded shoulder in Camelot Castle, so I just happened to bring him back," Skadi said. "Turns out, by coincidence, it's the Druid your disciple drove off."
Scathach let out a wry laugh. "That really is a coincidence. If you don't mind, I'll come to the room with you too, and see if my disciple is awake."
"Just 'happen to'?"
"Just happen to, not because I want to see him... Based on what my disciple used to tell me, if I were tsundere, I'd speak in that way." Scathach gave Skadi a meaningful glance.
...
"His face is so cold, almost like it has no warmth."
Artoria reached out her hand and placed it on Asher's face, then pressed the back of her slender hand against his cheek.
"Don't worry, with the scabbard, he'll be fine." Another woman's voice came from nearby. She stood by the window with her arms crossed, her gaze fixed on the unconscious boy lying on the bed, then quietly shifted it away.
"Royal Sister, did you calculate everything from the start?" Artoria turned to Morgan le Fay.
"I'm not a god... Oh, I guess I am a god," Morgan smiled helplessly. "However, even a god can't predict how things will unfold. For example, Viviane deceiving me... I truly didn't expect that."
"Moreover, if I had calculated everything, you wouldn't have been hurt either." Morgan walked behind Artoria and lightly patted her head.
"I wasn't badly hurt," Artoria turned back to look at Asher. "But he suffered a lot of injuries."
"I know," Morgan sighed softly. "But if I didn't do this, it would have been impossible to trick Vortigern, and even more impossible to make him transfer the remaining authority of the White Dragon to Ash."
Using everything that could be used, placing everything on the chessboard, playing with people's hearts that was the witch.
"You continue to look after him. I have some matters to
attend to," Morgan le Fay started to leave the room.
"Where are you going, Royal Sister?" Artoria couldn't help but turn to look.
"Viviane's side. I still have some things to interrogate her about," Morgan stopped. "Let me know when he wakes up."
With that, Morgan le Fay left the room.
Artoria's fingers traced Asher's face, her fingertips
finally touching his lips.
"How much longer until he wakes up?" Artoria murmured to herself.
Even if I did something now, no one would see, right?
This thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
No, that's completely inappropriate!
An honorable knight would not do such a vulgar thing. This is basic gentleman's etiquette!
Yes, gentleman's etiquette... but Artoria was not a gentleman.
Thump-thump.
A knock came from outside the door, and then the door opened.
"What are you doing?" Scathach asked in confusion.
Artoria's forehead was pressed against Asher's forehead.
Under the gazes of two... beautiful girls, Artoria expressionlessly returned to her seat.
"Helping to take his temperature," her tone was quite flat.
"I see," Scathach observed the room. "Didn't Uathach come over?"
"She guarded his bedside all night last night, so I told her to go rest first," Artoria said. "Princess Guinevere is helping with government affairs in the office. I'll have to go there soon too."
Scathach nodded slightly, then turned to Skadi and said,
"Don't take too much blood."
"I know." Skadi stepped forward towards Asher, observed him for a moment, then softly mumbled, "It seems he's generally fine now."
Artoria stared at Skadi 's action of taking blood, asking in confusion, "What are you doing?"
"Confirming his identity." As Skadi spoke, she poured the blood into a small vial, then began drawing some kind of magic circle on the floor.
"Ash's identity...?" Artoria recalled Vortigern's hysterical roar at the time. Morgan had also dared to confidently place Vortigern's consciousness inside Asher's body because she was certain Vortigern couldn't pose a threat to Asher.
In other words, was there really something living inside
Ash's body?
If this thing woke up, would Ash still be Ash?
Artoria couldn't help but worry.
"Don't worry, what's inside him won't awaken... Besides, a deceased being, even a god, can't be resurrected," Skadi said with a faint smile, lifting the magic circle.
The magic circle drawn on the ground glowed, and Skadi's red eyes reflected a hopeful color.
"Come, let me see you one last time."
Accompanied by a soft white light, a phantom appeared in the room. Skadi slowly raised her head, her gaze fixed on the man whose face was unclear.
Neither Artoria nor Scathach were seeing this phantom for the first time, so they weren't particularly surprised. However, when the woman beside her remained completely still, Scathach finally couldn't help but turn to Skadi .
"What's wrong with you?"
Skadi stared blankly at the phantom that was gradually disappearing, murmuring, "It's not him... It's actually not him..."
Skadi took half a step back, muttering distractedly,
"How is that possible? Why is this happening?"
She looked at the completely vanished phantom before her, took another half-step back, turned around, and rushed out of the room.
Scathach shook her head, and to Artoria, who was about to speak, she said, "Let her calm down by herself."
Artoria fell silent.
"Lily, you've taken care of Ash all day and you're tired.
Go rest a bit. I'll take care of things here," Scathach looked at Artoria.
"I'm fine," Artoria shook her head.
"It's not about being 'fine'..." Scathach looked quite helpless.
Did she have to be more direct: I want to be alone with
my disciple for a while?
Did it really have to go that far?
"Go on, you'll have to go to the political affairs office soon, right?" Scathach said again.
During Asher's unconsciousness, someone needed to act as an "acting king" to handle important government affairs. Although Artoria didn't have that much power, as a member of the Knights of the Round Table, she still had considerable influence. Basically, any meeting votes she proposed were rarely opposed by the Knights of the Round Table.
Artoria took one last look at Asher, then nodded gently.
"Then I'll leave him to you for now, Shishou."
"Mm, go on," Scathach said with a smile.
Seeing Artoria still standing there, looking somewhat uneasy, Scathach sighed helplessly. "I know what you're thinking. Don't worry, I'm not the type to take advantage of someone when they're vulnerable."
It was nothing more than fear that she would do something while Ash was unconscious, but she was an upright queen. As the super upright queen of the Land of Shadows, how could she take advantage of someone when they were vulnerable?
Artoria looked at Scathach with some shame, then silently turned and left the room, thinking to herself: Sorry... I am.
