Chapter 31 - CHAPTER 31: Undying War God’s Mausoleum

After he was done with the Black Scorpion, he took the chance to inspect the two weapons he found in the cave, together with the two corpses.

The Giant-Axe was the same as before; its weight and color not changing. But those weren't what took his attention.

What he focused on were the symbols and inscriptions on its blade and body, they seemed to be written in a special language that he had never seen before.

He looked at the Spear, examining its own symbols and inscriptions, although they were different from that of the Giant-Axe, they looked just as mysterious.

He then inspected the corpses.

The first corpse was the one that was holding Giant-Axe.

Even after gathering the bones and examining them, he didn't find anything special about them other than the size of the human. However, the Vision of Appraisal did give some valuable information.

It reported that the bones were over five-hundred years old, it also pointed out that the bones were harder than ordinary human bones. Experimenting, Lei Shi confirmed that the bones were indeed very much harder than ordinary human bones, and this astounded him. He wondered what that person ate that made his bones so strong.

The second corpse had the clothes that were still left on its body easily torn of by Lei Shi, but unlike the first corpse, there was something around its neck.

It was a Golden seal.

A thin golden string hung it to the corpse's neck. It had a drawing of a Phoenix on it and looked luxurious in its own right.

The Vision of Appraisal reported that this corpse was only around three-hundred years old, meaning that the first corpse was older than it. Secondly, its bones were also hard, but not as hard as that of the first. Lei Shi didn't know what to think of that.

Lei Shi sat with the two corpses, the two weapons and the golden seal in front of him. He was in deep thought.

He thought about how he came to this world, the Beasts that had come from this world and had invaded Earth, the Beasts he had seen when he was in this world, the vastness of this world, the corpses in front of him and the weapons.

They all pointed to one thing that made Lei Shi's heart pound as he thought about it.

The cultivation world.

Lei Shi spent the night in the cave and set off in the morning before dawn, taking the valuable things with him.

He flew for several hours, traversing thousand of kilometers.

When he was thinking of giving up and declaring this world to be a World of Sand, "Brrr" a reflected light ray caught his sight.

Taking that to be the sign of the presence of something other sand, Lei Shi flew towards the source.

As he got close, he zoomed-in and saw it to be a rocky plain filled with many sharp and steep rocks.

He flew over the rocky plain, leaving the desert region, and saw nothing but more and more rocks.

Occasionally, he would see a Lizard and other reptiles of different sizes, basking in the sun.

Not after long, he came across something else that left him completely at a loss.

It was a Mausoleum.

It was fifty-meters tall and looked grand. It was colored gold and black and had beautiful drawings on them which told a story of a man who led a hundred valiant soldiers.

The story depicted that the man was unrivaled and his hundred soldiers were a force capable of killing a hundred thousand.

The story went on to say that if any of the soldiers died in battle, their leader brought them back to life using his divine power.

Lei Shi was surprised that this was, oddly, the first abode of humans he came across after coming to this world. A place where they kept dead bodies, he didn't know if this was a sign.

Lei Shi wiped off the sweat forming on his forehead, put on his helmet and flew to the mausoleum.

Now that he was closer, he was able to see even more things.

He saw a hundred tombstones erected in front of the mausoleum, and each of them had some writings on them.

Lei Shi cautiously floated between them and went to the sealed door of the mausoleum, afraid of accidentally triggering a trap or some other defense mechanism.

Unbeknown to him, this was actually the best choice he could make because there were indeed many killing formations beneath his feet that something as simple as stepping on the ground would lead to a sure death, even for Lei Shi.

Lei Shi landed right before the sealed door. He didn't know whether to knock or report his name, because he didn't know the customs of this world nor did he know the customs of the dead. Even though he had read many cultivation novels since was on Earth, actually being in the cultivation world was still a little odd to him.

The doors of the mausoleum were black, huge and thick. They looked like even if a star crashed into them, they wouldn't even budge.

To top it off, there was a golden circular seal in their center.

The seal had a strange character inscribed on it, the character was in a language that neither Lei Shi nor Titania, with her vast knowledge of all the languages and calligraphy of Earth, could recognize.

Placing his hand on the seal, Lei Shi attempted pushing the door open. But as soon as he added a little force, the seal with the character inscribed on it abruptly disappeared, revealing a mechanism.

The mechanism was a set of pipes. These pipes could rotate while some could even move as a group.

These pipes were the parts of a puzzle, and solving that puzzle was the only way to open that door without the use of force.

Lei Shi was dismayed when he saw the puzzle. He didn't have the strength to force his way in, neither did he have the smarts to solve the puzzle because it had millions of tiny parts.

He was stumped, he then asked Titania "Titania, scan this puzzle. Can you solve it?"

"Hmm, this puzzle is very difficult. I've scanned it, and after processing it, I got millions of possible results. But there was only one answer to it"

"One answer? Perfect! Let's do it"

"Before we begin, I must say, it's going take a while"

"No problem, it's not like I have somewhere else to go"

"Okay, here we go then"

Two hours later, the puzzle was one move from being completed.

As soon as Lei Shi's hand, which was being controlled by Titania, moved the last piece and completed the puzzle, the huge doors parted and swung open.

*Poof* smoke was released from its interior.

The smoke cleared and revealed a spacious hall within the mausoleum. The first floor of the mausoleum was empty save for a hole in the ceiling at the far end of the hall which most likely led to the second floor.

Lei Shi was curious as to what secrets the mausoleum held, so he stepped into the mausoleum.

SLAM

As soon as he took two steps into the mausoleum the doors slammed shut and released a creaking sound, possibly due to the puzzle once more being jumbled up.

Lamps in the hall came on, and lighted up the hall.

Lei Shi heightened his senses and went deeper.

Not far from the door, on the ground, was a line, as soon as Lei Shi's foot crossed it and stepped on the floor after it, an arrow shot at him from the wall.

*Pyuu*

Lei Shi hurriedly withdrew his foot while twisting his neck, narrowly dodging the arrow.

*Clang* the arrow grazed his helmet, causing little sparks to fly.

"So fast?!" Lei Shi was appalled at the speed of the arrow. The maker of this trap was truly dedicated to his work.

After observing the walls more closely, Lei Shi found out that the arrow came out from a hole in the wall. And the walls, ceiling and floor of the hall were riddled with such holes. Lei Shi gulped.

"Titania, change the suit's configuration. Make me to be as fast as you possibly can" he said this because even though he reacted as soon as he noticed the arrow, the arrow still managed to graze him. He wanted to blitz through this thing.

"Done" Titania replied after about thirty-seconds.

The body of his HTB suit was now streamlined and slimmer, with his calves and thighs being thicker, so as to enable him to run faster.

Lei Shi walked back to till he was right in front of the closed doors, then he crouched and touched the ground with the tip of his fingers, like an Olympic Runner.

BAMM

Lei Shi's suit released an electric field, and his body began crackling with yellow-colored electricity

"Ready? Set? Go!"

BOOM

Lei Shi launched himself forward, blitzing forward like a gale.
