Chapter 30 - CHAPTER 30: Delicious Chelae

Lei Shi held the Giant-Axe with both hands, fired his thrusters and flew upwards, to the roof of the cave, out of the Nightshade Scorpion's area of attack.

Using his thrusters, he then began spinning, the Battle-Axe cutting through the air with every rotation.

*Swish*

*Swish*

Swishing sounds echoed out as the Giant-Axe swung through the air. But while there was still three seconds left before the configurations were done; and the muscles of Lei Shi's HTB suit's arms were still expanding, Lei Shi began descending towards the Nightshade Scorpion still spinning the Giant-Axe like a hurricane.

Lei Shi spun with such power and momentum that, from a certain angle, he looked like a rotating saw-blade; like if he actually smashed the Nightshade Scorpion with the Giant-Axe, all that would await it was death.

*Whoosh*

The Nightshade Scorpion stung at him with a force greater than all its previous stings.

But right as it was about to land on Lei Shi and cut him off in his descent, he let go of the Giant-Axe and immediately exploded forth with a short burst of speed that blitzed him to a different spot, causing the Nightshade Scorpion's sting to narrowly miss him.

BANG

The Giant-Axe smashed the Nightshade Scorpion's head, cracking its hard armored head.

KREE!!!

The Nightshade Scorpion released a loud cry before shaking off the Giant-Axe while backing away.

The Giant-Axe was flung away by the Nightshade Scorpion's shaking, causing it to land behind it. However, now, there was a four-inch crack on the hard shell of the Nightshade Scorpion's head.

The Nightshade Scorpion then stood on the Giant-Axe. This meant that if Lei Shi wanted to retrieve it, he would have trade his life for it because it would never give him another chance to land such a blow. It looked like if he as much as even came close to the Giant-Axe, it would attack him with everything it's got.

"Fuck, it's still alive even after all that? I think I should run. No, it wouldn't let me, especially not after getting the best of it like that, and the way it's guarding the exit is the greatest proof." Lei Shi said to himself "But since you don't want to move, I'll make it so that you never move again" he then dashed towards a certain corner of the cave.

The Nightshade Scorpion trailed after him while maintaining a certain distance, intent on reducing his area of movement while still guarding the exit, cornering him.

"There you are" Lei Shi said as he approached a corpse lying in the cave.

"Mine" Lei Shi crouched while running and grabbed the Spear that lay next to the corpse.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me" Lei Shi cursed after picking up the Spear. The Spear was heavy, not as outrageously heavy as the Giant-Axe, but heavy in its own right.

Lei Shi didn't know if all the weapons of this world were cursed to be heavy or if it was just these two. However, he ended up being grateful that they were this heavy because weapons as light as his saber couldn't crack the hard shell of the Nightshade Scorpion.

The Spear had a silver body with a gold head. And like the Giant-Axe, it also had inscriptions on it body, inscriptions which ran from its base to where it connected with the sharp gold head.

With the Spear in hand, Lei Shi didn't stop running and reached the cave wall.

*Step*

Instead of stopping and turning around to face the Nightshade Scorpion, he stepped on the wall and began running up it, with his HTB suit's thrusters propelling him, keeping him from falling. The Nightshade Scorpion, after seeing this came to a stop beside the corpse, and looked at Lei Shi.

*Step Step Step* He ran up the wall.

*Whoosh*

Right as he was about to reach the roof, he jumped from the wall, performed a back-flip and threw the Spear with all his might, using all the energy his HTB suit could give him.

*Whoosh*

The Spear descended like a silver-streak of lightening, No, like a shooting star. Its speed unmatched and its power like the weight of the heavens.

The Nightshade Scorpion was an intelligent Beast. It immediately moved to dodge as soon as it saw the Spear approaching it.

BOOM

Right as it wanted to retreat, an explosion occurred, accompanied by it being stunned, unable to move.

Unbeknown to it, Lei Shi hid a mine in the corpse which was beside the Spear when he had picked it up.

He had three of such mines. The first one was used to kill one of the Warriors of Kangaroo Corps when they were fighting the Green Jade Black Mamba. The second was used to push back Malcolm and Gideon when they were trying to stop him and Leng Shi from entering the teleportation portal. And now, the last one was used here, to stun the Nightshade Scorpion.

Although the Nightshade Scorpion didn't receive the full brunt of the attack as it wasn't directly under it and as the electric field that exploded from the mine spread in all directions, it still was able to stun it for a moment. And that moment was all Lei Shi needed.

BANG

The Spear landed squarely on the Nightshade Scorpion's head, going right through the cracked spot.

KREE!!!

The Nightshade Scorpion released a loud pained cry and trembled in pain.

"Hyaahh!!" Lei Shi yelled as he descended from the sky, following the same trajectory as the Spear and punched its base that was pointed upwards, causing it bore through the Nightshade Scorpion and pierce the ground underneath it.

BOOM!

The punch landed and entire cave trembled, then everything returned to silence.

*Slam*

The legs of the Nightshade Scorpion gave in and it fell to the ground; dead.

Lei Shi also landed on the ground and cursed "Fuck".

Unfortunately, as he had punched the Spear's butt, the Nightshade Scorpion attacked with its sting. Even though the attack wasn't a direct hit, it still ended up grazing him. And to his dismay, it was sharper than he thought.

The sting met with the HTB suit's armor, however, it tore through it and the pin at its tip ended up scratching his skin. The scratch didn't cause any blood leak because didn't even really break his skin, however, to Lei Shi; this wasn't good at all.

"Goddammit. Who knew this thing was actually this sharp?" Lei Shi said as he unsheathed his saber and scrapped off the piece of flesh that was scratched, he then brought out a syringe filled with antitoxin and injected himself.

"Now that were done with that, let's check the spoils" Lei Shi smiled.

Lei Shi scanned the Nightshade Scorpion's corpse with his Vision of Appraisal, but unfortunately, it didn't give him much information.

The reports of its scan was that the shell was too hard, and that it couldn't Appraise the Scorpion's age properly because it was an Arachnid, and Arachnids molted from time to time. But it estimated that it should at least be more than a hundred years old.

"Damn" said Lei Shi after seeing the Nightshade Scorpion's age estimate. He then looked at its sting and Appraised it and its poison, the results of the scan was one word 'Death'.

Lei Shi was startled after seeing such result. He then came to an understanding that it was no wonder that the Nightshade Scorpion kept attacking with its sting, it knew that one shot was all it would take to kill its targets.

Lei Shi then looked at its pincers, those were the main reasons he didn't run from the Nightshade Scorpion.

Using his saber, he cracked open the pincers to reveal its contents.

"Hahaha, Nice one!" inside the pincers were the soft and edible flesh that animals like Crabs had in their pincers.

Cut long story short, Lei Shi cooked them and dined, and the taste was heavenly, better than anything he had tasted before. He didn't know whether all the Beasts of this world tasted this good.

It was ironical that something so good could come from something so deadly. His only regret was that there were no seasonings to use.

Getting a flame started wasn't a problem as he had his HTB suit, second, he was already in a cave, so shelter wasn't a problem.

Throughout Lei Shi's stay in the cave, he had no visitors. It seemed the surrounding animals already knew that this cave was the abode of the Nightshade Scorpion which was death itself.

Following the directions given by Titania, Lei Shi preserved the remaining food from both pincers.

He didn't know how long it would take to get out of that desert nor did he know if he would find anymore food along the way. Even if he did find food, he didn't know if it would be edible or if he would have to risk his life once again to get it. And if he wasn't strong or skilled enough to pull through, that would mean his death, so saving was his best choice.
