He fluttered his eyes open, his vision blurring at first, then he blinked until everything came into focus.
Where the hell was he?
Veyr tried to lift his hand, expecting to struggle, but to his surprise, he lifted it easily, feeling no pain.
But how?
He remembered getting poisoned by Zhao and blacking out after that. Did they win the battle? Were they back in their world? Did the world collapse, and had he failed to bring Ryn back?
"Where am I…" he let out a groan and pressed his hands against his sides. Then he felt the softness of the mattress against his skin.
He wasn't dead, at least not yet. Then he felt someone breathing lightly beside him. Veyr looked down at his feet and saw the silver hair first, and he jerked up immediately.
Ryn.
He didn't have to look or think twice to know the person before him was his mate.
