Veyr
He gasped aloud when he saw two pairs of eyes staring down at him. They were blurry at first, but they sharpened into focus after a blink.
Master Lynsander and Master Theron.
"He's waking up. Thank the goddess, he woke up just before the portal closed," Master Lynsander's voice rang close to his ear. "Veyr," he muttered, waving his fingers in front of his face. "Are you awake? Can you see me?"
Veyr let out a low groan and nodded. He blinked again, scanning his surroundings. They were no longer in the sanctuary, and his back pressed against a hard yet oddly comfortable surface.
A deep roar vibrated through him, shaking the surface beneath him. Then that surface began to move. "What's happening?" he asked.
No one answered until the surface landed on the ground before the portal, where five men stood chanting and directing lights into it.
"Get up, Veyr," Master Theron's voice called above him. "The auspicious hour is about to happen. You need to get up."
