Alpha Lucian didn't knock.
He slammed the door open so hard it cracked against the wall. The guard barely had time to turn around before Lucian's fist was in his face.
His fist connected with the guard's face, once, twice, a third time until blood spattered across the room's wall. The man dropped to his knees, coughing and spitting, but Lucian didn't stop.
"I told you to watch her," Lucian snarled, grabbing the guard by the collar and slamming him back against the wall.
"You were supposed to watch her!" he roared again, striding forward like a beast unleashed.
He kicked the man in the stomach.
"I told you....no one touches her. That was your only job. Watch her. Keep her miserable, yes—but safe!"
The guard coughed, blood and spit hitting the floor. "I—I didn't see them come at her Alpha. I didn't know they were plotting that"
Lucian yanked him up by his collar and slammed him against the wall again.
