All ten ran from the laundry room to one of the bedrooms upstairs. Once they got in, it was pitch black inside, but then a candle lit by itself and lit up the room. Emma said, "How'd that happen?" Lou said, "Ghosts." Mike said, "Lighting the room is all they're doing?" Mike pointed at the candle and said, "Look." The candle started to levitate and then float toward the kids. Helga said, "A floating candle." Lou shouted, "GHOSTS!" Helga said, "No problem, watch this." Helga walked up to the floating candle and blew it out. Then, it lit itself again. Helga blew it out again, but it relit itself. Helga kept blowing and blowing, but the candle's flame wouldn't go out. Helga said, "A trick candle." The trick candle then floated up to Violet, Jack, and all the kids, and they ran for their lives. Emma said, "Is there any hiding place these ghosts don't know about?" Violet said, "Afraid not. One hundred years can give you a good picture of where you live."
Violet, Jack, and the kids ran upstairs to the attic and then slammed the door shut so the candle wouldn't follow them. Once they arrived, they walked around, hoping they were safe. While they were looking around, a headless ghost with skeleton arms and an overcoat followed them. When they saw the spirit, the ghost pointed at them and said, "Go, go. Leave this place." Bobby said, "Oh man, we wish we could." Then, they heard a werewolf howling. After they did, they ran out of the attic screaming.
Once they exited the attic, a bat flew over their heads, and Mike panicked. Then, the bat changed from a bat to a vampire. Once the kids saw the vampire, they ran downstairs and saw a werewolf howling at the full moon out the window. Then Alex screamed in terror and fainted. Lou said, "He's fainted." Helga said, "Come on, Alex. Wake up, wake up." Helga splashed a bucket of water on Alex's face, and Alex woke up. Helga said, "Better?" Alex got up, saw the werewolf again, and screamed in terror. Helga said, "I'll take that as a no." Then Mike and Helga grabbed Alex and ran off, while Emma grabbed Violet and ran off. Bobby grabbed Jack and ran off, and the others followed them. Then they all ran to the basement and saw a ghost phase through the wall. Then, the ghost phased through the ceiling and started to play the organ.
Once they heard the music from the basement, they saw the basement door open, and the vampire and werewolf came down the steps. Emma and Helga then quietly crawled across the floor, and Violet followed. When the werewolf spotted them, he growled at them, and both Emma and Helga screamed in terror and ran away with Violet. Then, they all hid from the vampire and werewolf and waited for them to leave.
Violet, Jack, and the kids emerged from their hiding places. Then Susan grabbed Violet, Bobby grabbed Jack, and they all ran out of the basement. Once they got back upstairs, they slammed the door shut and locked it so neither the werewolf nor the vampire could get out. After they trapped the monsters in the basement, a suit of armor's arm shook and swung its sword down at the kids. Then Tom jumped into Susan's arms, and Susan held him until Sam told them what caused that. Sam said, "Nothing to be afraid of, guys. A rusty bolt just came off and let the arm loose. Now, the girls and I will go upstairs. Tom, you, and the boys will stay downstairs."
All the boys walked around the rooms downstairs while Mike held Jack. Mike said, "You know. If you eliminate the ghosts, this place isn't so bad." Then, two ghosts snuck up behind them and started to follow them. Tom said, "Although someone would have to make it warmer here. It feels like someone is breathing down my neck." The boys looked behind them and saw two of the ghosts. Both of the ghosts said at the same time, "Boo." Then the boys screamed in terror and ran for their lives. Then, the ghosts chased them to a dead end. One of the ghosts said, "You must now face your doom." Alex said, "No, now we must..." Alex opened a door and shouted, "RUN!" Then he slammed the door shut, and they saw they were back in the mansion's library. Bobby said, "Grab a book." Pablo said, "Why? What are you going to do? Read them to death? Oh wait, they're already dead." Bobby kept throwing books off the shelf and said, "No, there has to be a secret passage here somewhere." Then the ghosts appeared in the library, and the boys kept pulling books while Mike held onto Jack. While pulling books, they threw the ones that weren't helpful to them at the ghosts. Then Bobby pulled a red book, and it made one of the bookshelves turn around, taking the boys behind it. Then the boys took a deep breath because they were safe, but they looked down and saw no floor, so they fell onto a slide and slid down it to another room. Then they saw more ghosts, ran upstairs, and hid in one of the rooms.
Meanwhile, the girls were walking around upstairs and started to hear something. Lou said, "Wait, what's that noise?" Emma said, "It sounds like dining music." Then, the girls saw the boys run out of a room with two doors. The boys ran right by the girls, and the girls wondered what scared them. Alex said, "Can't talk. Big scary ghosts after us." The girls looked at the room the boys ran out of and saw ghosts flying out of it. Susan said, "OK, now I'm scared. Run!" The kids ran for their lives, darting in and out of all the doors in the hallway. Then they stopped in the middle of the hallway and saw the ghosts. Then they all ran down the hallway, and the ghosts chased them. Alex said, "I'm freaking out now." Then one of the ghosts pulled a lever on the wall, and Violet, Jack, and the kids fell through a trap door on the floor. Then they all slid down a slide to another hallway, where they saw another ghost. The ghost said, "You kids know nothing." Then the kids ran for their lives and saw that the two spirits that chased them were in the same hallway. Both ghosts said simultaneously, "Now leave this place or be trapped here forever like us." Then, the two spirits saw another ghost in the hallway, and they all screamed in terror at each other. Then, a glowing scuba diving ghost came behind one of the doors and said, "Now. I want you all gone or face my wrath." When the kids saw all four ghosts, they ran outside. As they approached the front yard, they saw Sarah, the witch ghost. Sarah saw that the kids still had her spell book, so she reached out her arm and extended it across the yard. Sarah said, "Give me my book, children." Then she grabbed Alex and took the book from him.
