Marie's POV
The dining room was quiet after Mancini left. Patricia was still sitting at the table, pretending to fix her hair with a smile on her face.
We could still hear Mancini giving orders to Lionel down the hallway.
As soon as we stopped hearing his voice, Patricia turned her eyes to me. She smiled faintly, still playing with her hair. The silence between us was heavy.
I looked at her for a while before I spoke. "What are you doing here, Patricia?"
She looked at me as if she hadn't heard. Then she laughed, low and mocking. "What do you mean?"
"You know what I mean," I said. "What are you doing with him?"
She smiled wider and leaned back in her chair. "So you finally want to talk to me? That's cute. You want to act like we're friends now?"
I frowned. "This isn't about friendship. This is about you making the biggest mistake of your life."
