Marie's POV
The door opened, and Eliza stood there.
I sighed in relief. "Oh! Eliza! It's just you!" I said, laughing.
"Ma'am," she said. "He's asking for you."
Eliza was sounding very formal, unlike how she is normally with me. Then she turned and started leaving. That's when I saw that another servant had followed her. Then I understood why she had been so formal.
I needed to be more careful. I don't know who Mancini's spy is, but if this person finds out that I'm very casual or free with Eliza, they may start being suspicious of her. And what if she was Marcus's spy? It means I would ruin everything.
I checked my hair in the mirror again before walking to Mancini's room.
He was sitting at the edge of his bed flipping through an old magazine.
"You're here," he said, standing. He opened his arms, and I got confused.
"Don't know what a hug is?" He asked.
He frowned when I didn't move.
"Marie!" He said, warning me.
