Raditz lay on the ground, having reverted from Super Saiyan God, drenched in sweat and gasping for breath as he stared up at Beerus. He had no idea what technique the God of Destruction had used to counter his full-power assault, but the tremendous impact had left him completely helpless—truly terrifying.
However, Whis immediately waved his staff, soft light filling the entire space. Raditz recovered instantly while everything around them returned to its original state through magical power.
This didn't surprise Raditz at all—angels were simply that powerful. Their abilities extended far beyond mere strength, encompassing unimaginable powers over time and space, even capable of reversing life and death...
Under Whis's guidance, Raditz approached Beerus.
"That was quite careless, Raditz," Whis said with a helpless expression. "I warned you to be careful or risk death, yet you remained reckless." He shook his head with a sigh.
"I don't care what apprentice Supreme Kai you claim to be—waking me up was a serious offense!" Beerus regarded Raditz with grave intensity. "Hmph, but you're different from ordinary weaklings. At least you made me exert some effort..."
Whis chuckled. "Indeed, Lord Beerus hasn't exercised like this in quite some time."
"It was merely a warm-up!" Beerus twisted his neck and wrists, raising his chin with an air of dismissal toward Raditz. Yet secretly, he observed the unexpected visitor from the corner of his eye, carefully studying this intriguing newcomer.
Raditz shuddered and quickly apologized. "I'm terribly sorry, Lord Beerus! I didn't mean any disrespect—I was simply following training arranged by Whis."
Beerus bared his fangs while glaring at Raditz. "What kind of training was that?! Whis..."
"Hohohoho, this was a new training method I devised—completing tasks without disturbing you. Unfortunately, Raditz failed," Whis explained with amusement.
Raditz nodded vigorously in agreement.
Their harmonious explanation, especially Whis's interruptions with cheerful laughter, gradually diminished Beerus's anger at being awakened unnecessarily.
In truth, Beerus had shifted from fury to genuine interest in Raditz.
Throughout his long existence as God of Destruction, Beerus had remained invincible. Aside from his master Whis, he'd never encountered a true opponent. Forget fighting him—few beings could even force him into action. That arrogant fool claiming to be "Emperor of the Universe"—Frieza, wasn't it? He wasn't worth a single finger from Beerus, since even Supreme Kai-level strength could handle such threats.
Beyond laziness, boredom was another reason Beerus indulged in extended slumber.
Raditz's appearance had genuinely brightened the God of Destruction's interest. How fascinating! Here was someone clearly an apprentice Supreme Kai, yet whose strength approached the God of Destruction realm—simply unimaginable.
"As a Supreme Kai, why do you come here to train?"
"To better master Super Saiyan God and grow stronger," Raditz answered honestly.
"Wait!" Beerus's eyes widened suddenly. "You just said Super—"
"Super Saiyan God," Whis helpfully supplied.
The air fell silent as Beerus stood motionless, as if his soul had departed. His thoughts drifted to the not-so-distant past, recalling a vague prophetic dream! That vision had mentioned a rival of his—called the Super Saiyan God!
For that reason, he'd specifically counted down thirty-nine years, setting hourglass alarms to sleep until awakening in the prophesied year. Being roused by Raditz was accidental, yet what proved even more surprising was discovering that this very Raditz embodied the Super Saiyan God.
The prophetic dream was accurate.
Beerus couldn't help but smile. "You're the Super Saiyan God—the powerful enemy I foresaw... It seems you're not far off the mark."
"Lord Beerus's prophetic dreams are often inaccurate," Whis interjected with typical irreverence, covering his mouth while chuckling softly.
"But didn't he appear before you this time? That's right—it's definitely him!"
Though the timing differed from his prophecy, the person was undoubtedly correct. Beerus remained convinced that Raditz was the one foretold in his vision.
Since Beerus insisted so firmly, Whis said nothing further. Regardless of whether Raditz matched the prophecy, a vast gap still separated the two fighters. Yet it wasn't impossible for Raditz to become the God of Destruction's worthy opponent. The more Whis interacted with Saiyans, the more he sensed tremendous potential hidden within their race. Perhaps the prophecy concerned the future...
"Lord Beerus, may I ask how much power you used just now? Was it sixty percent?" Raditz inquired tentatively.
In the story he knew, when Beerus first fought Super Saiyan God Goku, the deity had casually mentioned using seventy percent of his strength. But judging from later events, this claim became increasingly questionable—probably just Beerus's modest deflection. This made Raditz wonder: exactly how powerful was the God of Destruction?
Hearing his question, both Whis and Beerus burst into laughter.
"Sixty percent? Hahaha... Are you joking?" Beerus responded with sharp amusement. "To handle you, I only needed thirty percent of my strength." He raised three fingers, displaying the full pride of a God of Destruction.
Thirty percent?! Raditz was stunned. He'd assumed there was no seventy percent figure from the God of Destruction, but perhaps fifty or sixty percent. After all, he was a preparatory god himself! Yet Beerus claimed only thirty percent, dealing quite a blow to Raditz's confidence.
And within that thirty percent, he wondered if the power of "destruction" was even included.
Thinking about it this way, perhaps Goku back then had faced only seventy percent of Beerus's might? After all, that Goku had achieved divine status only through everyone's combined effort, making him weaker than Raditz's current level.
The path of cultivation stretched incredibly long!
As if reading Raditz's thoughts, Whis smiled gently. "Though you can't compete with Lord Beerus yet, with dedicated effort, you'll eventually make tremendous progress."
"Hmph, you'd need at least a thousand years of training!" Beerus declared disdainfully.
He wasn't looking down on Raditz specifically—he simply possessed absolute confidence in his own strength. Having served as God of Destruction for eons without encountering anyone worthy of the title "strong opponent," Raditz barely catching his interest was already remarkable.
Rather than being discouraged by these words, Raditz felt inspired with incomparable fighting spirit. Super Saiyan God possessed further transformations. At that point, might he compete with sixty percent of Beerus's power? The goal of matching the God of Destruction undoubtedly added tremendous motivation to his training.
"Since Lord Beerus is awake, why not sample Earth's delicacies?" Whis suggested.
"Earth? Food!" Beerus showed as much interest in cuisine as Whis, immediately perking up at the mention of meals. He'd just awakened and felt quite hungry.
"Earth is the planet where Raditz currently resides. The environment is beautiful and the food delicious."
"Really... Raditz, to compensate for your offense of waking me, I'll punish you by demanding you treat me to an excellent meal. If I'm not satisfied, I'll destroy Earth!"
Both Beerus and Champa were complete food enthusiasts and equally willful. However, Raditz was already experienced in conquering Gods of Destruction through their stomachs. Food? Earth had everything they could want!
