Chapter 220: Fighting the Four Emperors Again
In Dessert City, Ace chased Charlotte Smoothie all the way to the outskirts of Whole Cake Castle.
When they arrived, several senior officers of the Big Mom Pirates were already waiting—along with Charlotte Linlin herself.
"Mama, I brought him!" Smoothie called out, slowing her pace as she approached her mother.
"Very good!" Linlin gave Smoothie an approving look, then turned her enormous figure toward the man who had chased her daughter down. Her booming laughter echoed through the air.
"Fire Fist Ace! I was hoping to have some fun with you—perhaps even make you part of my family by marrying one of my excellent daughters! But your actions today have angered me. So now… you can die here!"
"Kill me?" Ace descended slowly from the sky, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "If you think you can, go ahead and try."
"Mamamama~! Such arrogance!" Big Mom's laughter twisted into fury as she unleashed her overwhelming Haoshoku Haki. "Let's see if you can still smile after facing true terror!"
She spread her massive hands wide—
On her left hand burned Prometheus, the living sun.
On her right hand rumbled Zeus, the thundercloud.
The air warped around her as Haki surged to its limit. With her power and presence combined, Big Mom looked more like a wrathful goddess than a pirate.
"Heh…" Ace's blood boiled with excitement. "Now that's what I call a fight!"
Without hesitation, he activated his Fire Emperor Form—his flames darkening into a deep crimson as his own Conqueror's Haki burst forth to meet hers.
The sky above Whole Cake Island twisted violently. Clouds spiraled as if torn by invisible hands, thunder rumbling through the heavens as their wills clashed.
"What?! This brat's Haki…" Big Mom's eyes widened for a moment in surprise. Then, with a snarl, she channeled her Soru Soru no Mi powers into Prometheus and threw a blazing punch forward.
"Flame Jet!"
Prometheus unleashed an immense torrent of fire, surging toward Ace like a flaming tidal wave.
"Flames? Against me?" Ace arched an eyebrow, amused. "You've got guts, old lady."
Though he said it lightly, his expression hardened. Opening his mouth wide, Ace inhaled sharply—
and devoured the inferno whole.
The Big Mom Pirates froze in disbelief as the firestorm disappeared into Ace's body.
"Hiccup." Ace gave a small burp, then grinned. "Let me return the favor… double."
He exhaled a colossal burst of flames—mixed with his own power—straight back at Big Mom.
BOOM!
The explosion engulfed her massive body, shaking the entire city. It was unclear whether Big Mom had underestimated Ace or simply forgotten his immunity to fire, but her attack had backfired spectacularly.
"Elbaf's Spear!"
From within the roaring flames came Big Mom's furious voice. The inferno split open as she swung her enormous blade, Napoleon, downward.
"Ikoku Sovereignty!"
BOOM!
The invisible shockwave cleaved the air itself, tearing toward Ace with unstoppable force.
Ace crossed his arms, coating them in Armament Haki, and met the attack head-on. The impact split the clouds and sent him hurtling backward hundreds of meters, leaving a deep crater in the ground beneath him.
"He actually blocked Mama's Ikoku Sovereignty head-on?!"
"That attack can pierce an island! What kind of monster is he?!"
The Big Mom Pirates' officers stared in disbelief.
Ace smirked, shaking the numbness from his arms.
"So this is the legendary Elbaf's Spear, huh? Not bad—but maybe you're just not strong enough to draw out its true power."
Although Ace had once crossed blows with Kaido in Wano Country, that clash was more of a test than a real battle. Now, facing Big Mom with both sides going all out, he could finally measure the true gap between himself and a Yonko.
He had taken her full-powered attack head-on—and was still standing.
That meant one thing:
The gap wasn't as big as he once thought.
"You damn brat! Don't get cocky!" Big Mom roared. Her massive body blurred as she appeared in front of Ace with frightening speed, Zeus crackling with lightning at her side.
"Zeus Thunder!"
Lightning rained down like divine punishment.
Ace's eyes flashed—flames ignited behind him as he shot forward, dodging the thunderbolts and closing in instantly.
His palms glowed with searing heat and Armament Haki as he thrust them toward Big Mom's chest.
"Armament Style — Divine Flame Strike!"
