Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Emergency measures

Shortly after Spector's announcement, Adam saw the aircraft ahead of him, and he quickly caught up to it before slowing down and flying alongside.

The red glow of his wings lessened slightly; however, they still glowed enough to leave a trail behind him.

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Wow, talk about a primitive vehicle, it looks like it's still using propellant-based thrust.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Pimative again.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): I get the feeling we're going to have to get used to being called primitive when we watch Spector's streams.]

[Gunlovergirl (Earth): Ugh.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): My apologies, I meant no disrespect, but you must understand that compared to any other planet connected to the universal subspace network, your planet does indeed seem very primitive technologically based. I mean that craft doesn't even seem capable of space flight. Actually, how is this planet connected to the network?]

[Prestigious3horns (Vinox 2): We have all been asking that question since we started watching the streamer, and so far, no one has been able to provide an answer.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Fascinating.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): So what's the plan, streamer? Do you plan to disintegrate the plane like the car?]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Wait, disintegrate, how's he supposed to manage that?]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): We don't know why, but his blaster is capable of the disintegration shot.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): … what? His blaster?]

[Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): You don't even know that 'My Lord', everyone in the chat knows about that.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): Oh? And how do you know it, you also only just joined this stream.]

[Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): It was in the article I read, 'My Lord', and I have seen it in clips on Xer-verse.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): …]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): So anyway, stream what's the plan?]

"Hmmm." Adam made a noise as he thought about it. He could just disintegrate the plan, but was that really enough punishment for Viktor, who had killed the love of his life?

No, it wasn't, so he decided to let Viktor and his father die in a harsher and more fitting way. Whether deliberately or not, he conveniently didn't think about the pilot.

"I'm going to shoot out the engines." Adam decided as he announced to the stream.

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): What but I wanted to see a blaster use the disintegration shot.]

[Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): While I loathe to admit it, I have to agree with this Deverinian.]

As Adam was preparing to move into position, the aircraft suddenly started to turn and enter a dive.

On board the aircraft, the pilot was leisurely keeping an eye on the navigation equipment while letting the autopilot handle most of the work.

He was slightly annoyed with the sudden departure demand from Alamo City because it meant he had to speed through the pre-flight checks faster than normal, and more importantly, the stewardess who normally served Francis Morose was not able to join them in time. He and the attractive stewardess often found a few minutes to fumble around in the cockpit together without their boss knowing; however, now that wasn't possible.

Both of these things were, of course, highly illegal and dangerous; however, the pilot had been flying both commercial and charter planes for years without incident, having performed rush jobs for take-offs several times. Also, since he would get a hefty bonus each time, he didn't care.

As he was relaxing in the cabin and grumbling about the stewardess not being there, a communication suddenly came over the radio.

"Flight A C one seven nine nine, this is Alamo City control, come in please, repeat flight A C one seven nine nine, this is Alamo City control, come in please."

"This is flight A C one seven nine nine, go ahead control." The pilot replied calmly.

"Flight A C one seven nine nine we have just been alerted to an unidentified flying object on an intercept course with you at high speeds, you are advised to turn to heading zero seven zero and descend to twelve thousand feet, I repeat we have just been alerted to an unidentified flying object on an intercept course with you at high speeds, you are advised to turn to heading zero seven zero and descend to twelve thousand feet, please confirm."

"The fuck." The pilot cursed before taking control of the plane and altering course as he replied.

"Confirmed control turning to heading zero seven zero and descending to twelve thousand feet."

As the plane suddenly turned and descended, the cabin door opened, and Francis Morose asked, "What the hell is with this sudden turbulence?"

"Apologies, sir, but I have just been advised that an unidentified object is on an intercept course with us, so we are taking emergency measures." The pilot replied as he continued to alter the direction and altitude.

"What? What sort of unidentified object?" Francis asked in alarm.

"Unknown sir, please return to the cabin and buckle yourselves in."

Francis quickly returned to the cabin and buckled himself in as he explained to Viktor what was happening.

As Viktor was about to ask more questions, he caught sight of something out the window next to him and couldn't help but curse, "What the fuck is that thing?"

Adam watched curiously as he wondered why they suddenly made a course change and started descending. They were in the middle of the ocean and had no place to land.

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): Look, the plane started to turn.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): It's also descending, I wonder why.]

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Do Earth plans normally change their course like that?]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): No, something must have forced them to change their course.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): If I had to guess, I would say that the streamer was probably picked up on radar.]

[StealthAssassin9 (Earth): Actually, that makes sense. The streamer was flying at Mach 5, and with his size, he might have been mistaken for a hypersonic missile.]

[Solarianpride11 (Solarian 4): Radar?]

[Tessisdabest (Imperial Down): A primitive form of sensor, it uses electromagnetic sensors to detect objects. However, it's very limited compared to the sensors used on spaceships. If the object it detects is not transmitting any sort of identification, then the operator has to make an educated guess at what it is.]

[DeverinianLordMalacoss (Deverinian 9): How inconvenient.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): Unfortunately, this could spell bad news if my guess is correct.]

[Beczontop (Imperial Down): Bad news?]

However, before Duck could explain, Spector spoke up.

[Alert, object detected approaching at hypersonic velocity. Considering this planet's level of technology, the possibility of it being a hypersonic missile is high.]

[Whostolemyduck (Earth): I knew it. 🤦

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): So the streamer probably got mistaken for a missile that was on an intercept course with the plane, and so they launched an actual missile to try and intercept. Kekeke.]

[Celebrityhunter69 (Earth): Oh wow, that's bad.]

"Fuck, what direction is the object approaching from?" Adam asked in a hurry as he unholstered his blaster.

[Approaching object detected at six o'clock.]

Adam quickly spun around and focused on the direction he had just come from. Soon, he noticed a glow on the horizon, which soon took the shape of a missile that was heading right for him.

[SciFifanboy (Earth): Oh shit, it is a missile, that's not SciFi.]

[Superhearofangirl (Earth): Get out of there, streamer, evade evade.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Can he evade? Even if he does, won't it just circle around as it continues to target him?]

Adam suddenly reactivated his hypersonic speed and flew away with the missile following him.

"What are my chances of survival if that thing hits me?"

[Based on available data, you have a 99.9% chance of survival, though you would likely receive injuries.]

[Noobkiller9000 (Earth): Damn 99.9% survival after being hit by a missile.]

"Why only 99.9%?"

[1000yearsofdeath (Earth): Kek, the streamer is not happy with his 0.1% chance of dying. Kekeke.]

[The anti-gravity armour is more than sufficient to protect you from the impact and resulting detonation. However, I am unable to calculate for any unknown variables, which is why it is only 99.9%.]

"Good," Adam said before he rolled over so he was flying upside down as he started to fire his blaster at the missile.

[Handsome3horns (Vinox 2): Who wants to place bets on how many shots it takes him to hit it?]

Knock knock

"Enter, Sebastian Morose said from behind his large desk as he went through documents on his different family members. He was researching who would be best to replace Francis.

Sabastian Morse's assistant walked in before saying, "Sir, I have news on Francis and Viktor."

"I already saw the news this morning," Sebastian replied curtly.

"Yes, sir; however, this is something that the news has not reported on yet." The assistant replied.

"Go on."

"Yes, sir, apparently Francis was informed that the hooded individual is hunting him and Viktor, as well as your agreement with the individual, and so they have both fled the country."

"Interesting. Do we know who informed them?" Sabastian asked.

"The Informant, sir."

"No real surprise there, after all, that guy has informants everywhere. I'm curious to see what the hooded individual will do when he learns of this; however, after all, he did make it obvious that consequences would follow anyone who talked."

The assistant was about to reply when he received a message on his phone, and after looking at it, his eyes widened in shock.

"What is it? Sabastian asked.
