Chapter 452 - Chapter 467: The Truth About Nimrod: Kang

Marvel's Promethium metal differs from the various mystical metals of the DC Universe. Rather than a standard solid alloy, it acts more like a sentient liquid metal, similar to a symbiote. This fluid metal possesses potent anti-magic properties and can be shaped at will or even bonded with biological organisms.

And this was the raw material required for every single Nimrod Sentinel.

"This is also why the Nimrod Sentinel cannot teleport its physical body here. From a temporal perspective, Limbo has not yet been mined on a large scale in the present. Since only one Limbo can exist at a single point in time, it means the Promethium within Nimrod's body would conflict with the unmined Promethium currently in Limbo."

Strange provided a technical briefing to Peter and the others, explaining why Nimrod hadn't sent a fully formed Sentinel over like a Terminator. It simply couldn't be done. Nimrod could only transmit a portion of its program or send out ordinary Sentinels. However, sending ordinary Sentinels was essentially a death wish.

Illyana asked a fundamental question: "Then how did this thing get into Limbo in the first place?"

She then saw Peter looking at her. She frowned and shot back, "What?"

"The Nimrod Sentinels of the future can replicate the X-gene of any mutant they come into contact with..."

Illyana suddenly realized. It was because of her...??!!!

"So, the reason Nimrod can be mass-produced in the future is because they controlled Limbo in that timeline." Ignoring the bewildered "Little Snowflake" beside him, Peter summarized: "But Illyana hasn't felt any changes in Limbo, which means this Promethium was actually taken much earlier, during Belasco's era."

"There is another possibility," Strange added. "If I remember correctly, Doom also took a portion of Promethium."

Peter shook his head. He didn't think Doom was behind this. To put it bluntly, Doom had no reason and no need to do so. A.I.M., or rather Hydra, couldn't offer anything Doom actually wanted. If Hydra planned to rule the world, Doom might even stand in opposition to them.

"If it was Belasco, why would he give this stuff to Hydra and A.I.M.?"

The question raised by Thor plunged everyone into silence. After all, while it seemed plausible for a demon like Belasco to strike a deal with Hydra, it felt strange. If A.I.M. had never been to Limbo, how did they know the properties of this metal? Without scientists, how would Belasco know that Hydra and A.I.M. needed it?

"It's as if there is a middleman who knows Hydra exists to bridge the gap, and also knows the properties of Promethium. This person must have been to Limbo."

Peter tapped his head and began using the process of elimination to identify the culprit: "It certainly isn't the X-Men. It's not the remaining residents of Limbo. It's not Doom. Belasco doesn't understand science. The only one left..."

Wait...?

"I remember now! I saw Kang the Conqueror in Limbo!" Peter suddenly reacted. "That guy called himself Immortus and was collaborating with Belasco. He was the one responsible for freezing the X-Men in time back then!"

Now everything was connected.

Did Kang know about the existence of Hydra and A.I.M.? It was hard to say for sure, but the probability was high. He was the most likely person to tie all of this together. There was still no answer as to how Bishop from Earth-811 traveled through time, nor how Nimrod arrived at Earth-616—a past that existed as a possibility. When it came to time travel, Peter only knew one person who could toy with time so effortlessly.

Only Kang.

Furthermore, why did Kang appear last time? It was to create a super artificial intelligence. First, he guided the creation of the Green Goblin AI; then, after finding that the Green Goblin AI did not meet expectations, he guided Pym to upgrade Ultron. This situation with Nimrod was the same. The Nimrod of Earth-616 had not yet been born, so Kang brought over the Nimrod that had already destroyed the world on Earth-811.

"He must be planning something, but we know nothing..."

Peter frowned in deep thought. "And we don't even know if he has achieved his goal yet."

"What we should consider now is how much Promethium Kang took and how many Nimrod Sentinels can be manufactured with it. If the quantity is limited, we have enough time to completely defeat Nimrod in our own timeline."

"So, the next question is exactly how much of this metal is still available to be used for manufacturing Nimrod Sentinels." Tony wrote down the third key point on the glass. "If we can figure this out, we can probably figure out the urgency of Nimrod's plan, as well as how it intends to act and where it will go."

"I have been closely monitoring the lab where Molten Man researched those liquid metals. Unfortunately, a manager named Mr. Griffin sold off all the related products. It is temporarily confirmed that Mr. Griffin's buyer was Hydra, so..."

Tony paused and looked at his teammates. "The only people who might know the answer are Hydra."

"We can't exactly expect Hydra to just tell us the answer," Wasp interjected instinctively after hearing Tony's account. Then, seeing Tony's expression, she asked with surprise, "Wait, we're not actually planning to ask Hydra, are we?"

"We captured the former Supreme Commander of Hydra, Janet, and we need answers."

As Tony spoke, he looked toward the Mansion Prison sitting on the table.

At that moment, inside the Mansion Prison, Cap and Black Panther arrived outside Baron Strucker's cell. The Baron, who was reading a book, smiled and closed it. "What is it, Captain? Has my death warrant arrived?"

"It will arrive soon enough, Strucker. But before that, we need to know one thing."

"You know the rules of Hydra, Captain."

"This has nothing to do with Hydra." Cap looked at Strucker, whose legs had been severed, inside the cell. "The liquid metal that Molten Man used to control his body—where did Hydra store it?"

"..."

T'Challa took a step forward and looked at Strucker. "We are dealing with a brand-new enemy, an enemy of all mankind, Strucker. An artificial intelligence has accomplished a task even Hydra couldn't: the enslavement and destruction of all humanity."

"And Hydra happens to have a chance to prevent an AI from finishing that job in Hydra's stead."
