The sleek black sedan cruised through the dimly lit streets when the driver's voice cut through the silence.
"Alpha, is that Miss Lauren?" He nodded toward a figure stumbling along the roadside.
Kirk had been absorbed in his phone, but his head snapped up at the mention of her name. His sharp gaze swept across the pavement until it locked onto the woman in question.
"She appears to be injured," the driver observed, easing off the accelerator.
Kirk's jaw tightened as he took in the scene before him. There was no mistaking it. Kimi was indeed there, favoring one leg as she moved with obvious difficulty. Her posture spoke of someone completely lost, both physically and emotionally.
The driver began to accelerate past her, but Kirk's commanding voice stopped him cold.
"Pull over. Now."
Without waiting for his driver to circle around and open his door, Kirk stepped out onto the asphalt. His long strides carried him swiftly to where Kimi stood swaying slightly on her feet.
