"What's with those humans? I thought directly drinking human blood was strictly forbidden," Urd Geales finally noticed Aoki and the others behind Ferid Bathory, expressing his disapproval of Ferid Bathory's actions.
Ferid Bathory, ever smiling, replied, "Those humans are children I've recently taken a liking to. As for drinking human blood directly, that rule only applies within the city. The humans have taken the cities, so we can be a little more lenient, wouldn't you say?"
Recently, Kureto Hīragi, the heir to the Hīragi family, had led a Japanese Imperial Demon Army force into the vampire-controlled cities, quickly seizing them. Their efficiency stemmed from the forbidden power of the Seraph of the End—Mirai Kimizuki, Shihō Kimizuki's sister.
"The cities were taken because of your incompetence," Lest Karr bluntly stated, unlike the more polite Urd Geales.
Ferid Bathory continued smiling. "Oh, my, my. Under the traitorous queen, I worked diligently, didn't I? Crowley Eusford, am I right?"
Crowley Eusford looked at Ferid Bathory impassively. Suddenly, Urd Geales sensed a unique aura in the distance.
"What is it?" Lest Karr also noticed. "The scent of blood. Only a high-ranking progenitor could produce such a scent."
Without answering Lest Karr, Urd Geales dashed towards the source. Lest Karr followed suit.
Aoki considered retreating. If they didn't leave now, they'd have no chance once Lest Karr and Urd Geales returned.
But after careful consideration, Aoki decided to stay. He needed to investigate the Seraph of the End project.
"Oh, those two are gone," Ferid Bathory said, watching Lest Karr and Urd Geales depart. He turned to Aoki and the others. "Get back on the bus. Crowley Eusford and I will handle things. Don't interfere; you might lose your lives."
Ferid Bathory and Crowley Eusford ran off in the direction Lest Karr and Urd Geales had gone, though not to the same location.
"What do we do? Aoki, should we leave?" Shinoa Hīragi asked.
Aoki shook his head. "We can't. Several powerful vampire progenitors remain. If we try to force our way out, only I can escape; you'd all be left behind. If I help you escape, none of us will make it."
"So, let's listen to Ferid Bathory and get back on the bus."
Following Aoki's instructions, they returned to the bus. Shihō Kimizuki, having lost considerable blood, was pale, but his cursed gear saved his life.
Back on the bus, Aoki sat motionless, seemingly meditating. Shinoa Hīragi and the others didn't disturb him; their only hope was Aoki.
After some time, Ferid Bathory returned—or rather, he was dragged back by Lest Karr. Urd Geales also returned, carrying someone.
Krul Tepes.
The third progenitor, who had overpowered Aoki at Nagoya, was now held effortlessly by Urd Geales, highlighting his overwhelming strength, far beyond their capabilities.
"Everyone, Ferid Bathory and the queen are back!" Shinoa Hīragi alerted Yūichirō Hyakuya and the others.
Mikaela Hyakuya and Krul Tepes exchanged a look, understanding each other's unspoken words, but neither spoke.
"What's going on? I have no idea," Yūichirō Hyakuya said, looking out the window. "He's waving at me. But I don't want to talk to him."
Ferid Bathory, being dragged by Lest Karr, protested. "Lord Lest Karr, let me state for the record, I haven't betrayed anyone."
Lest Karr didn't believe him. "You're a retainer of the second progenitor, Rigr Stafford. You can't be uninvolved."
Ferid Bathory continued. "Lord Lest Karr, do you still associate with the first progenitor? It's the same for me. I haven't seen my father in a thousand years. Lord Urd Geales, you understand. My father doesn't care about me."
"Silence him," Urd Geales said flatly. He'd just fought another second progenitor; although their strengths were comparable, the other had escaped, leaving him agitated.
Lest Karr punched Ferid Bathory in the stomach. Urd Geales held up Krul Tepes. "We've captured two traitors! They will undergo sun torture! Prepare yourselves!"
The vampires were shocked.
"What?! Sun torture?! Has the Japanese queen committed such a heinous crime?!"
Urd Geales threw Krul Tepes beside Ferid Bathory. "Ten days of scorching sunlight. If you have anything to say, say it then. Think carefully about what you'll say."
He addressed the vampires, pointing to a vampire noble in a suit. "Ky Luc, you'll be the torturer."
Ky Luc was surprised. "Me? The torturer?"
Urd Geales ignored him, looking at Krul Tepes and Ferid Bathory.
"Sanguinem was taken by humans, so you must receive punishment for your incompetence. We'll go to Sanguinem, and return in ten days. If you don't have anything interesting to say, the torture will be permanent!"
