Chapter 93 - Chapter 93: A Good Beginning

The sudden appearance of the quest instantly caused the hidden memories in Ace's mind to gradually awaken.

"Rayquaza… capture… imprisonment… release… Sootopolis… Ruby and Sapphire…"

The thoughts in Ace's mind gradually became clear, and at the same time, he knew that he had enough time.

Ace had originally remembered the matter of Rayquaza, but subconsciously, he had assumed it was part of the Hoenn region's storyline, a misconception that it was still far off in time.

But in reality, Rayquaza had already been captured by a joint effort of the Pokémon League, Devon Corporation, Mauville City, and the Birch family before Ace came to this world.

After that, Ruby battled Salamence, which led to Salamence breaking into the research facility and releasing Rayquaza.

Because of this, the troublesome Ruby caused Norman to willingly take the blame, embarking on a journey to find Rayquaza, which then triggered a series of events.

"Norman is from Goldenrod City, so if I'm not mistaken, that research facility should be located in Goldenrod City."

Recalling the details of the plot, Ace roughly estimated that to complete the first three tasks, he would definitely need to make a trip to the Johto region.

"But before that…"

Ace looked at Mewtwo's Poké Ball, muttering, "Mewtwo's power must be borrowed."

Of course, Ace could try to catch a Psychic-type Pokémon, but now that he had Mewtwo, Ace felt there was no need to specifically catch one.

"Let's see Mewtwo's attitude now."

Ace opened the Poké Ball again, and Mewtwo surprisingly reappeared before him.

"Human, what did you do?"

Mewtwo looked at Ace and said, "I have never felt so liberated."

"A little perk for my Pokémon," Ace said calmly. Seeing that Mewtwo didn't immediately turn hostile, Ace nodded internally. At least for now, it was a very good start.

Ace wiped off the sea salt that had already crystallized on his body and said to Mewtwo, "I need to take a shower first. You can familiarize yourself with the environment here. Of course, you can also try to escape, but that would be a very foolish decision."

Ace waved his hand, and his Crobat and others immediately dispersed, going about their own business, with none of them paying any further attention to Mewtwo.

As for Ace, he walked towards the cabin without looking back.

Mewtwo silently watched Ace's retreating figure, saying nothing until he disappeared into the cabin.

As for the other Pokémon, they were either busy with their own affairs or taking time to hone their strength.

"This human is truly strange."

Mewtwo recalled its time under Team Rocket's control in its mind. The faces of those humans were still vivid in its memory.

But this human in front of it didn't have such malicious thoughts; instead, he gave it a somewhat free space to move.

"And that power…"

Mewtwo clenched its fist, and a surge of power erupted. Compared to before, its strength had increased by at least 30%!

"Perhaps, I can try."

Mewtwo looked towards the cabin, a flash, and disappeared from its spot. When it reappeared, it was already inside Ace's study.

The study was still somewhat empty, with not many books on the shelves yet.

Mewtwo walked to the bookshelf and casually pulled out a book.

Opening the book, it contained a large amount of information about Golbat.

And in the blank spaces of these pages, there were occasionally small, handwritten notes.

Mewtwo observed carefully, discovering that most of them were records and insights.

"Strange human."

Mewtwo quickly flipped through the book, finding that almost every page contained some of Ace's notes.

Turning to the last page, Mewtwo paused at the anatomical diagram of a Golbat, then seemed to understand.

"Intruding into someone else's private space is not a good habit."

Ace opened the study door and couldn't help but speak, seeing Mewtwo looking at his books.

"You already tacitly accepted that I am your Pokémon, didn't you?"

Mewtwo didn't argue this time; instead, it calmly used telepathy, "I want to observe what kind of person you are. If it aligns with what I envision, being your Pokémon is acceptable."

"And if it doesn't align with what you envision?"

Ace leaned against the door, looking at Mewtwo as he spoke.

Currently, he had no Pokémon by his side. If Mewtwo wished, it could kill Ace instantly.

However, Mewtwo didn't do so; instead, it began conversing with Ace.

This was a very good sign for Ace.

"If it doesn't align."

Mewtwo looked into Ace's eyes and coldly communicated telepathically, "Then I will do three things for you, anything that I am capable of doing. Once the three things are done, I will leave on my own."

"Alright."

Ace nodded, not refusing Mewtwo's proposal.

This was a gamble between him and Mewtwo. If he won, he would gain a Mewtwo whose strength was absolutely not weak. If he lost, he could still have Mewtwo do three things for him.

Moreover, with the Soothe Bell acting as an almost BUG-like existence, Ace felt his chances of winning were at least ninety percent!

"Don't disturb me, it's my reading time now."

Ace walked to the bookshelf. Mewtwo stepped aside. Ace pulled out a book, then sat at the desk and began to read.

Mewtwo did not disturb Ace, but leaned against the desk, silently watching him read.

Ace was currently reading a training manual for Gengar. He completely ignored Mewtwo, turning a pen in his hand while looking at the book.

From time to time, when he saw something, Ace would record some of his thoughts on it. Of course, these were his current thoughts.

If he experienced something new or gained new insights, he would turn back to this section and revise his notes.

"Haunter communication evolution…"

Ace fell into deep thought when he saw the evolution method recorded there.

"If you want your Haunter to evolve into Gengar, I suggest you let it devour a Clefable."

As Ace was contemplating, Mewtwo, who had been leaning against the desk, spoke, "I once saw a Haunter evolve into Gengar after devouring a Clefable. This method offers great control, and by absorbing all of another Pokémon, its power will be far greater than what your so-called evolution method provides."

Ace nodded. Evolution didn't happen for no reason; it required accumulating enough energy.

For example, Pokémon that evolve using an evolution stone need a large amount of energy for evolution. In their daily lives, the energy they absorb is too little, which is why they need specific evolution stones.

As for Pokémon that don't need evolution stones, they accumulate small amounts of power from their daily level-ups, which then aids their evolution when needed.

And those Pokémon that require communication evolution are quite intriguing…
