Colton's POV
Seeing her in that condition broke me, but I was even more annoyed with the fact that Axel was by her side.
The fucker just wouldn't leave, and I couldn't stop him.
"Axel," I called, my eyes narrowing at him.
He stood up and smiled at her. "See you later, princess."
L's growl reverberated within me, as though questioning me for allowing him to call her princess.
I watched as Axel left the room, and it was only after then that I sat down. I placed my hand on her head.
She was still burning up. I hated myself for doing that to her. If only I had controlled myself!
"Are you okay?"
She didn't answer, but I felt her body stiffen in response.
"Miranda?" I stood up, my heart rate increasing as I feared that something was going to happen to her. "I'll get Doctor Sam right now."
"Is it true?" she asked, just before I got to the door.
I turned around quickly and reached for her hand. She was crying. Why would she be crying? Had that fucking Axel said something to her?
