Miranda's POV
I didn't know how I left the kitchen or how I landed on this bed, but my body felt like it was on fire.
"Miran," someone called me. I knew that voice, but my vision was too blurry to make out the face.
"Miran," the person called again, frantically this time. "Are you awake? Can you hear me?"
"Mmm," I groaned, wincing as a painful headache tore through my skull. "My head."
But it wasn't just my head—my entire body throbbed with pain.
My eyes felt too heavy, and I tried to close them, but felt someone nudging me again.
"Stay with me. Stay with me, Miranda!"
I muttered something that even I couldn't understand before drifting off to sleep.
I was back in the kitchen, scrubbing the plates and then…Alpha Colten…
Was this a dream? Had Alpha Colten actually marked me?
"…she's been like this for hours. Could it be the mark?"
"…she's wolfless, so…"
"Something's wrong with her…"
The words drifted into my ears, but I couldn't make out who they were.
