Arc 2: Chapter 7 — The Phoenix's Warning

The night air was cool and quiet, moonlight spilling across the balcony of the Demon Lord's castle like liquid silver. Fen Hao stood alone, his white hair soft in the glow, his red eyes reflecting a thousand thoughts.

A month had passed since he fell into this Mortal Realm. Two weeks since he and Ziyan had come to live in this fortress.Yet tonight, standing beneath the endless sky, his heart still wandered.

"Lanyue… why does my heart ache when you cry? Why does my soul feel helpless whenever I think of you?"

He clenched his hand around the balcony railing, memories of a promise made in the darkness to a girl who lived only in his dreams.

"I don't understand…"

The wind whispered around him, carrying the scent of cold stone and ancient power, but Fen Hao stood lost in the moonlight—caught between memory and fate.

Meanwhile — In the Immortal Realm, Chu Family's Phoenix Nest

High above the Mortal Realm, within the Phoenix Nest of the Chu family, crimson flames danced in silence.Chu Lanyue and her sister knelt before a pool of ancient fire, their eyes filled with determination.

In that moment, space itself twisted. A rift opened, swallowing them in a flicker of light.

When they blinked, they stood in a strange realm—mystical, suffocating. Before them towered a massive red phoenix, eyes like blood moons, aura enough to crush them to their knees.

The phoenix's voice boomed, ancient and mocking:

"I am the heir of the Shi Family in the Chaos Realm, the master of this Mystic Realm. Who are you two-week monkeys who dare to stand before me?"

The weight of her power pressed them down until they could barely breathe. Their bodies bowed low to the ground, but with shaking voices, they answered:

"We are the chosen ones of this generation… to inherit the Great Phoenix's will!"

The phoenix's laughter echoed like thunder:

"Just you? Even if only my soul remains, why should I choose you? When a Phoenix reaches the Chaos Emperor Realm, we can go through Nirvana and be reborn—I still have that chance. Why should I trust you two… worthless creatures?"

Chu Lanyue's voice was soft but steady:

"We will help you… no matter what. Tell us how, and we will do everything."

The phoenix's eyes narrowed, amusement flickering beneath the contempt:

"Forget it. It's not hurt if I am going out. But before that, let's see your future.I inherited an ancient Chaos Emperor inheritance and his Chaos Domain Realm—it has the ability to peek into the future. So… who is going to come with me?"

The sisters swallowed hard, but they stepped forward, voices trembling:

"We will."

The phoenix's left eye blazed white, and the world shifted.

A Glimpse of the Future — The Battlefield of Destiny

Suddenly, they stood in the middle of a vast battlefield—sky split by howling winds, earth torn by war.

The phoenix's voice was curious, faintly amused:

"Hmm… so who are you fight?"

Lanyue's eyes darkened.

"The devils. They are the beginning of chaos and also the enemy of all the living beings."

The phoenix, still in her soul form, shifted—her voice turning cold and distant:

"Well… this battle is still one possibility in the future. And it's funny… devils are the enemy, huh?"

Chu Lanyue frowned, confusion in her eyes.

"What are you trying to say? And… you can also change forms?"

The phoenix snorted lightly.

"Nothing, girl. It's nothing. And I am a phoenix—of course I can transform. Hmph."

The Boy in the Battle

As they spoke, Chu Lanyue's sister's voice broke the tense quiet:

"Sis… look at that… that to your right!"

She pointed, her voice shaking. In the middle of the battlefield, a young man with white hair and red eyes was holding Chu Lanyue protectively in his right hand, slashing down enemies with a fury that blurred his form. Even though a sword had pierced through him, he kept fighting—desperate, relentless.

Her sister thought to herself, shocked:

"He… he really is a devil…"

The phoenix's voice was light, almost amused:

"Wow, girl… you're a lucky one, huh? But why are you killing him?"

Chu Lanyue's breath caught, her voice low and shaking:

"What are you talking about? He is a devil-like man… of course he needs to be killed!"

She didn't realize it was Fen Hao. But as she spoke, her heart began to ache—softly, slowly.

The phoenix watched her closely, eyes narrowing.

"Hmm… well, your choice," she said softly, even as her thoughts whispered:(What I see is a young man fighting desperately to bring this girl in his arms to a safe place… and even though this is just an illusion… why does it make me fear him?)

The Final Vision

The vision wavered, and at its end, the phoenix spoke with a heavy breath:

"Let's go to reality now."

At that moment, a massive golden dragon and two women of breathtaking beauty rushed onto the battlefield—space itself tearing as an enormous army thundered forth. The phoenix's voice turned sharp, her eyes wide:

"It's… the Devil Royals guard uniform…!"

Back to Reality

The sisters gasped as the world snapped back to the Mystic Realm. The phoenix—no longer the proud, mocking figure—stood trembling. The arrogance from before was gone, replaced by shock and deep fear.

Chu Lanyue's sister whispered, her voice shaking:

"Sis… you defeated the devil and saved all of us… just like in the prophecy."

The phoenix's eyes flashed, her voice cutting like a blade:

"Shut up, girl! Shut up…!"

Both sisters froze. They had never seen the phoenix like this before—no longer an arrogant soul, but a woman overwhelmed by something she could not name.

"What… what did you see that we didn't?" they asked, voices small.

The phoenix took a deep breath, her voice low and trembling:

"You two… don't ever kill that boy—ever. If that happens… I don't know who he is, but your whole… no, the whole human race will be forced to go to war with that lunatic clan. And why the hell did that dragon appear there…?"

She turned her gaze to Chu Lanyue, her voice hoarse:

"Who are you…? Why are you connected to such a fate…?"

Chu Lanyue could only whisper, lost and shaken:

"I… don't know what you saw in that illusion. The only thing I know is… I need to kill the devil to save the humans and all living beings."

The phoenix's voice was a cold, bitter laugh:

"Kill the devil… kill the devil… all the time! Why are you so desperate to kill him? Is he some kind of scum or something?"

Chu Lanyue's eyes fell, her voice hollow:

"I… don't know…"

The phoenix sighed softly, placing her hand on their heads—her voice gentle, almost motherly:

"Huu… you two are still so young. So I won't blame you. But remember this: never fight with him. And… I think he is pretty good."

The sisters didn't understand. But they nodded.

The Secret of the Twin Merging Body

The phoenix drew back, her voice calm but still heavy with something unspoken:

"Now… I will follow both of you. Let me teach you how to merge and become one again."

They stood blankly, confusion in their eyes.

"No way… don't tell me you don't know? You two share the same Qi wave length… and soul length. Agh, this is going to drive me crazy! Listen carefully—there are many types of conditions, body types in the cultivation world. You have the Twin Merging Body. It allows you both to share memory, emotion, cultivation talent, and level. You can merge as one… and at that time, your cultivation will also merge for a short time—like a killer move in my home."

The phoenix explained everything. The sisters listened, activating that power, feeling it like a part of themselves returning. When they merged, they could switch control of their body and speak to each other through telepathy.

"Good. From now on, wear this bracelet. My soul will stay in here. And don't say anything about me or what you saw. Just say you gained a skill that can control space. I will speak to you both through telepathy—and you can speak to each other through me."

Far Away — In the Darkness

In a room swallowed by blackness, a man's laughter echoed—low and cruel.

"It will begin soon. Nineteen years ago, we lost our chance… but not this time.Liyan… prepare to break the seal and open the door. Tomorrow night… we reclaim what was lost."
