"Avy!"
Silas's deep voice cut through her flustered rambling, making Avery freeze mid-sentence. The nickname rolled off his tongue so naturally that it caught her completely off guard. Her lips parted slightly as she looked up at him, wide-eyed.
Silas took a slow breath, his fingers twitching slightly at his sides. For a fleeting second, he wanted to reach out, to cup her little pouting face between his palms, to tilt her chin upward so she'd finally look him in the eye. Her lips were pursed in that adorable way that made his self-control falter.
But he restrained himself. Barely.
Not yet, he thought, his gaze softening as he watched her. After she becomes mine, I'll never have to hold back. I'll make her look only at me, hold her hand whenever I want… and whenever she pouts like this— his eyes lingered on her flustered expression —I'll just kiss her until she stops.
