After leaving Alabasta, Roy took Whitey Bay to Skypiea.
The icebreaker stayed below, and only Roy and Whitey Bay took a small boat up.
"How did you know about this place?" Whitey Bay exclaimed when she saw the Gate to Heaven.
"I read it in a book," Roy replied with a smile.
"It was in a book?"
"Yeah, it was in a book."
Whitey Bay didn't question it too much. Roy had read so many books over the decades, maybe he'd come across a record of Sky Island in some obscure text.
"Auntie, can you send us up?"
The gatekeeper Amazon nodded, and a giant lobster appeared to carry them up 3,000 meters to the Skypiea, the land of the gods.
"How is there an island in the sky? Is this… real earth?!" Whitey Bay exclaimed.
"The ancient City of Gold, Shandora, was once here. Remember when I told you the story of Montblanc Noland, the Great Liar? It was true—the Golden City is right here," Roy said.
"Seriously?! The legendary City of Gold is here?" Whitey Bay looked wide-eyed at the island ahead.
"This is a map of Jaya. Look at this—it's the one Noland drew back then. Compare it to the current one. See how a huge chunk is missing?" Roy grinned.
"You're right! How did you know this?!"
"Books," Roy said simply.
"So… there's a ton of gold here?" Whitey Bay excitement was palpable.
"Yeah, there's A LOT of gold here," Roy nodded.
"Amazing! Let's go take it all!"
"It's just the two of us, we can't carry much. But taking a little is no problem."
"Mhm," Whitey Bay nodded eagerly.
Their small boat sailed toward the island. As they reached the shore, a thunderous boom echoed from the sky. Whitey Bay looked up, it was lightning.
"Watch out!"
"Hmph."
Roy's eyes narrowed. A powerful Haki surged from him like a bolt of black lightning, shooting skyward. The dark energy collided with the lightning and shattered it instantly.
Whitey Bay was stunned. The sheer force of his Haki distorted the sky, the black lightning streaking toward some distant direction.
In the temple, Enel was eating fruit in boredom. He had just overheard two people plotting to steal his gold, so he casually sent a bolt to finish them off.
He thought it was no big deal until an overwhelming force locked onto him. Before he could dodge, the black lightning pierced his body, completely shattering his supposed invincibility.
"AAAHHH!!"
Enel screamed in pain, overwhelmed by Conqueror's Haki. Everyone in the Sky Island God's Domain collapsed, knocked unconscious by the distant Haki blast.
"Who... Who the hell is that?!"
Enel felt his consciousness slipping away and eventually passed out.
The moment was brief, but Whitey Bay saw her man go all out for the first time. That immense Haki... she felt it even surpassed Whitebeard's.
"So this… is your real strength?!" Whitey Bay looked at Roy.
"Just a little trick," Roy said with a smile.
Smack!
Whitey Bay slapped him on the chest.
"You're so bad, hiding this from me," she said, throwing herself into his arms.
"I've only gotten stronger as I've aged. I only awakened Conqueror's Haki a few years ago," Roy said, holding her tightly.
Once she calmed down, Roy led her to the Ruins of Shandora, showing her the remnants of the Golden City and even Enel's Ark Maxim.
"So much gold… This is insane!" Whitey Bay's eyes gleamed with excitement.
"I'll show you the most valuable thing here." Roy led her up a giant vine, where they found the Golden Bell.
"This is the Golden Bell."
Seeing the enormous bell made entirely of gold, Whitey Bay was stunned. Roy was also amazed, who would've imagined making a bell out of so much gold?
But beneath it lay something far more significant—
A Poneglyph.
"This is… a Poneglyph?!" Whitey Bay recognized it instantly. Any New World pirate knew what these were.
She hadn't expected to find one here.
"Too bad it's black, not red," Whitey Bay said disappointedly after seeing its color.
"Don't underestimate this Poneglyph. It records the location of the Poseidon," Roy said.
"Poseidon?! One of the Ancient Weapons?!"
"Exactly, and these words over here were left by Roger," Roy pointed out.
"So… Roger really could read the ancient language?"
"No. It was Oden who could read it."
Whitey Bay was stunned. "So Roger brought Oden along to translate the Poneglyphs?"
"Yup. Without Oden, he never would've found Laugh Tale."
"You knew all of this?"
"Every bit."
Roy raised a finger, coating it in Armament Haki, and casually carved a few words into the gold.
'Roger was a fart. Whitebeard is the true number one!'
"You're so mischievous!" Whitey Bay burst out laughing.
Roy really was twisted. After writing that, he took Whitey Bay and prepared to return.
"This is the temple. This guy was the one who attacked us. A Logia user, Rumble-Rumble Fruit user."
Whitey Bay kicked the unconscious Enel, surprised someone like him existed on Skypeia.
Enel sensed something, opened his eyes, and looked up at Roy and Whitey Bay.
In an instant, he leapt up and turned into lightning, flying into the sky.
"Rai—!"
"Get down here."
Roy's voice boomed like a bell in Enel's ears, shaking him so hard he fell from the sky.
"No way... I'm a god... how could this...?"
Enel tried desperately to move, but no matter what, his legs wouldn't obey him.
He looked up at Roy and tried using Mantra (Observation Haki) to read him, but nothing worked. He was completely suppressed. A feeling he had never known before.
"W-Who… What are you?!"
"My wife and I are just travelers. No need to panic, little guy," Roy said as he looked Enel in the eye.
"You're no ordinary man! What do you want?!" Enel said.
"Nothing much. Just sightseeing. You attacked us, remember? Anyway, we're leaving now. You don't mind if we take some gold, right?"
"T-Take it! Take as much as you want!" Enel stammered, sensing the threat of death.
"We don't need that much. We can't carry it all anyway. Just prepare a bigger boat for us, and send us off with some dials."
In the end, the couple descended from Skypiea with a small fortune in gold. But when they returned to Jaya, they found—
"Huh? What happened to you guys?"
On Jaya Island, Whitey Bay saw her crew all battered and bruised all injured in Paradise of all places.
"Who did this to you?!"
