Chapter 3 - Space Rift

However, just when Su Ziyan thought he could live a peaceful life like this.

When he was ten years old, an accident almost caused Su Ziyan's world to collapse again. Because of his old age, the old beggar died when he was ten years old, leaving him nothing...

Time took away his only relative, and since then he became an orphan again.

On the night when the old beggar died, Su Ziyan also cried very sadly. A heart-wrenching voice came from the dilapidated temple, "Grandpa, why! Why do you want to leave me too? Why! What should I do if I am alone? Why do you treat me like this!"

At that moment, the chirping of insects outside disappeared, and only his cries could be heard in the forest...

Su Ziyan cried for a long time, and while crying, he recalled what the old beggar had said to him before he died.

At the same time, he knelt beside the old beggar, assuring his grandfather that he could take good care of himself and reassure his grandfather.

The next day, Su Ziyan had a sad expression and red eyes. He used the hoe that the old beggar had used to bury him on a mountain not far from here.

Looking at the old beggar's grave and thinking about his own lonely life in the future, tears flowed from the corners of his eyes again.

But this time he didn't cry out loud. He just looked at the grave in front of him, pursing his lips from time to time to try to hold back his tears.

After burying the old beggar, Su Ziyan was very negative for a while. It was not until he was very hungry that he went to find some food to keep himself alive. Only when he remembered what the old beggar had said to him did Su Ziyan cheer up a little.

...

From then on, he had to live alone, picking wild fruits and collecting herbs in the mountains. In order to survive, he had to beg alone.

But this was not a solution. After a month, Su Ziyan helped out in a small shop in the town.

The shopkeeper there was a slightly plump, middle-aged woman with a kind face. Su Ziyan called her Aunt Li.

When he just came over and said he wanted to help here, Aunt Li didn't despise him. Seeing that Su Ziyan was pitiful, she asked him to help with wiping the table and cleaning.

Aunt Li gave him some steamed buns as a reward to Su Ziyan.

...

After helping for a year, Aunt Li wanted to hire him as a clerk in the store, so she called him over.

"Zi Yan, I have noticed how hard you have worked over the past period of time. How about you become a clerk in my shop? I can pay you."

Su Ziyan looked at Aunt Li nervously, thought for a moment and said, "Thank you, Aunt Li, but I don't have time and can't be a waiter here."

When Aunt Li saw Su Ziyan's refusal, she smiled and shook her head. She also knew what he was going to do, so she didn't force him anymore and left it to him alone.

So Su Ziyan went to school to attend classes during the day, and helped Aunt Li in her steamed bun shop in the evening.

...

And just like that, another two years passed.

Over the past few years, Su Ziyan has always remembered every word the old beggar told him, and he must learn how to survive and keep himself alive.

It is because of this that Su Ziyan learned how to face reality, how to treat people who are stronger than himself, how to solve the difficulties he encountered, and how to look at some people or things.

After the old beggar died, Su Ziyan did not leave the dilapidated temple. After all, he had lived here for so many years, and he was somewhat reluctant to leave.

...

It rained heavily that day. In the evening, Su Ziyan returned to the temple all wet and quickly lit a fire in the middle of the temple's main hall.

While warming himself by the fire, he dried his clothes.

By the time all the clothes were dry, it was already the hour of Hai, the rain had stopped, and the moon was looming in the clouds, its moonlight shone into the dilapidated temple through the windows and broken roof.

The rainwater fell along the roof into the small pit and flowed out along a small ditch in the pit.

It is summer now, and many insects come out to chirp at night.

It was even more noisy in the forest, and mosquitoes bit us from time to time, making it even harder to sleep.

Just as Su Ziyan was about to fight the mosquito to the death with the help of the moonlight, he was suddenly startled by a loud crackling sound coming from outside the ruined temple!

He turned his head and looked towards the temple gate with a look of horror on his face. What was happening?

In the void in front of the temple, a crack about ten feet long appeared. The edge of the crack emitted white light, and in the middle of the crack was a dark space!

After this crack appeared, the force of space disturbed this space. A strong wind suddenly arose and spread in all directions. Trees as thick as thighs were blown to sway wildly!

The trunks of some big trees were blown off and fell down with a loud crash!

Boom!

One after another, lightning bolts with faint white light but inky black centers shot out from the cracks in space, leaving tiny cracks in the space!

Even people in Baishi Town could feel this kind of noise, but they didn't dare to come out to check after hearing such a loud commotion!

...

Su Ziyan hid in the temple, becoming more and more frightened. He clasped his hands and hid in a corner.

The strong wind made the temple door rattle, and even some of the tiles on the roof of the temple were blown away!

Su Ziyan, hiding in the corner, didn't dare to speak. Who knew what was happening outside? It was best to hide at this time!

But the next moment, with a loud bang, the door that was propped up with a stick was blown open by the wind, and a strong wind swept into the temple!

He hid more tightly, but after half a cup of tea, he found that nothing happened except the strong wind, so he stood up and wanted to close the temple door.

When he arrived at the gate and grabbed a door to close it, he looked outside and saw a scene that he would never forget.

With the help of moonlight, a crack six feet long and five feet wide appeared in the void.

The faint light in the middle of the crack made it difficult for him to see what was inside, but he was still attracted and stared at the crack!

As the space cracks expanded, the surrounding strong winds became stronger and stronger!

The dead branches and fallen leaves were blown up, and the raindrops on the trees were also blown up and floated in the air!

Such a scene still made Su Ziyan extremely frightened. He was the only one here now, how could he not be afraid!

Just as he was looking at the crack in horror, he saw something emitting white light falling out of the crack.

It fell straight into the woods ahead, where a white light was emanating.

Just after the ball of light emitting white light came out, the crack slowly began to close until it finally disappeared!

The strong wind and black lightning disappeared, and everything around became quiet again. If it weren't for the white light in the woods ahead, Su Ziyan would have thought that the scene just now had never happened!

...

Looking at the flickering light in front of him, Su Ziyan began to hesitate.

"Should I go over and take a look?" He was afraid of danger, but what if it was a treasure?

If you get it, you can exchange it for a lot of money and change your life.

After thinking about it, he gritted his teeth and said, "Let's go and take a look. It doesn't look like there's any danger. It's not far away anyway."

After saying that, he walked out of the dilapidated temple and headed down the mountain.

In the woods, he carefully approached the location of the light and hid behind a tree for a while. He continued to approach when he saw there was no danger.

Soon, Su Ziyan approached the light and saw a small round ball lying on the flat ground.

The light emanates from it, looking beautiful and mysterious.

Seeing that it was not dangerous, Su Ziyan murmured, "It doesn't look dangerous, and it looks like a treasure."

He walked out slowly from behind the tree and approached the ball on the ground very carefully.

Just as he approached the small ball, an extremely terrifying aura burst out from the small ball!

This breath enveloped Su Ziyan, and in an instant, he felt like he was going to die!

I felt that everything around me became unreal, my body was not listening to me, and I broke out in a cold sweat!

However, this breath came and went quickly. In just a moment, it disappeared.

Su Ziyan fell to the ground and looked at the ball in horror. He wanted to escape, but his legs and feet were no longer under his control.

After a stick of incense had passed, he finally felt that his feet could exert strength, so he slowly got up.

He was about to leave, but when he looked at the ball, he hesitated, because he had been here for so long without any danger, which meant that the bead did not pose any threat to him.

So he plucked up his courage, slowly approached the ball, and reached out his hand to grab the ball.

After his finger touched the ball, it shattered with a pop, revealing a human middle finger.

His pupils shrank and he screamed in fear, but he did not run away.

He had even seen dead people before, so a broken finger was not enough to scare him to death and run away.

But at this moment, a feeling that made him feel extremely palpitating emanated from the severed finger.

Fortunately, he did not feel any danger. He carefully picked up the severed finger and examined it, only to find that there was no blood on the smooth fracture.

There was a ring on the severed finger. The ring looked extremely ancient and had some runes on it that Su Ziyan did not recognize.

He took the ring off the broken finger, held it in his hand and examined it carefully. He felt that the ring could be sold for a good price.

Just as he was about to throw away the severed finger, he stopped, looked at it, thought about it, and then took it back.

When he returned to the temple, he placed the severed finger under the threshold and closed the door.

From the very beginning, he discovered that since he had this severed finger, no mosquitoes dared to bite him.

Because of this terrifying feeling, he believed that no wild beast would dare to enter the temple, or even approach it.

He then took out the severed finger and began to examine it. Looking at the strange runes on it, they looked very much like tadpoles.

He was puzzled. "What is this? Are they some words? But I didn't learn them in school."

She looked at the ring in his hand over and over again, and finally shook her head and said, "Forget it, I won't look at it anymore. I'll just take it to town to sell it later. I wonder if anyone wants it."

Now that he had the severed finger, he was no longer afraid of mosquitoes biting him, because there was still a faint feeling of terror enveloping him.

Since I already knew what it was, I wasn't afraid.

He held the ring tightly, turned over, covered himself with a tattered quilt up to his stomach and lay down. He was too tired today and could not hold on any longer. Not long after lying down, he fell into a deep sleep.

But what he didn't know was that after he fell asleep, the ring began to emit a faint white light regularly!
