Dawn came too early.
Nox woke to the sound of someone pounding on his door with enough force to rattle the frame. He rolled out of bed, grabbed the nearest weapon, which turned out to be his boot, and yanked the door open ready for a fight.
Elisa stood in the hallway, fully armored, her massive sword already strapped to her back. Behind her, the sky was barely beginning to lighten, the first hints of pink and gold creeping over the mountain peaks.
"Training," she said. "Five minutes. Be outside or I drag you out."
The door slammed in his face before he could respond.
'I hate mornings. I hate warrior princesses. I hate this entire situation.'
He dressed quickly, throwing on clothes that still smelled faintly of yesterday's blood, and made it outside in four minutes. Elisa nodded once, the closest thing to approval he was probably going to get, and started walking without a word.
