The next day, Luna started attending school again. She went back to her usual routine. As a second-year student (12th standard), she had a lot on her plate and was under quite a bit of academic pressure. A week passed just like that.
Then, the police called her and her parents to the station. They had caught two or three of the kidnappers. After questioning them, the reason for the kidnapping came to light—they had done it for ransom. Luna came from the fairly wealthy Mehra family, who owned several businesses.
The police assured her parents that they were still working to catch the remaining kidnappers and that those responsible would be punished accordingly.
They also mentioned that they hadn't found anyone named Nikhil. Since he wasn't involved in the kidnapping, they hadn't looked for him further.
Luna and her parents thanked the police for their work.
Though she had hoped to meet Nikhil again and thank him properly, she understood why the police didn't prioritize looking for him.
Still, she couldn't let it go. She decided she would search for him herself.
She didn't know much about him, but she thought she might find him at his college. If she was lucky, maybe she'd catch a glimpse of him on campus.
Since she'd need to visit during the week, Luna decided to take a leave from school the next day.
