Chapter 340 - C340 : Howl Heard Round The World

While Albert and Shurry were slowly walking back, Shurry half limped while his body healed in real time. The pain was beyond intense, and why Albert had appeared to come and help. However, Shurry stopped moving forward for a moment, and turned, towards the site where he killed the dragon, and snarled.

"What's wrong, is it reviving? Surely it didn't survive that?" Albert asked, turning to see what Shurry was snarling at, drawing his sword just in case. His eyes darted around knowing full well that if the dragon came back, Shurry was in no condition to fight. "I… I don't see anything."

"It's gone now anyway." Shurry said slowly, exchanging the snarl for an exhausted smile.

"What was it?" Albert asked, returning his sword to its sheath. He let out a heavy stress relieving breath.

"Erebus…" Shurry answered, nearly transforming in the process out of sheer rage. "The bastard's really gonna get it next time I see him."

"If it was him… No, never mind. Shurry, why don't you do the thing, ya know? You're a hero now, been one for a while, but now… You can't deny accepting the title. So go on, announce the victory. It's your duty."

"Heh, you just want me to deal with the masses instead, right?"

Albert laughed, and raised his hands as if he'd been caught.

"Well, it doesn't matter… No matter what anyone thinks, says, or does, my next goal will be achieved."

"What's that?"

"What else? Lay in my bed, and sleep with my wives cuddled up to me." Shurry said, with a smirk. "Isn't that what you want too?"

"Hehe, got me again."

"Stand back."

Albert leapt backwards, eventually being joined by all of the others who just fought like hell to end the dragon, and its thunder. As they lined up, everyone could feel it, the turning of the age, and the announcement of it to come.

Shurry transformed, assuming his largest wolf, a flip of his tail nearly caused disaster thanks to the sheer size. He took in a deep breath, deeper, and deeper, impossibly deep. And then he let it all out carrying a deep pride, and shook the world over. Everything felt slightly lighter thanks to the slight additional spin the force of his howl created.

Gods, and mortals alike, heard this howl experiencing several emotions, and thoughts. Werewolves and, albeit to a lesser extent in an attempt to feel the call of their blood, Ceinthropes, howled out joining in concert.

All other mortals simply cried, or cursed. Cried thanks to the joy of the monster threat being completely eliminated, or because vengeance against the dragon had finally been brought about. The one who did it was of no consequence.

Those who cursed, did so out of hate, of jealousy… Those with hate were people who aligned more with Evilus' ideals, so they mattered not, just all around horrible people. Those with jealousy, were the ones who wanted to be the one to kill the dragon. Though they too were crying, knowing they weren't even half of the way to performing anything close to the fight they just caught glimpses of… Specifically the battle that completely ripped apart a planet into its component parts.

The gods had mixed reactions too, but in the Denatus room, Hathor stood prouder than ever, her familia's name will go down in history forever more. For it was her son who conquered the strongest dragon, the one which threatened the world.

"As much as I'd love to be down there with you, my son, I'll let your wives keep you for now." Hathor smiled, proud tears rolled, as she petted a wolf's head.

"You did well, Shurry…" Zeus uttered, with an approving gaze.

"Now go spend time with your wives… You've earned as much." Hera said. "Though I wish you could have stuck with one wife…" She mumbled, still upset about that little detail.

"To think the dragon was that strong… And what was it that he turned around for?" Hermes asked, rubbing his chin.

"There are only two things in the world that could ever cause my son to act like that. One of them, he's just slain, the other was killed years ago."

"Erebus was going to return, so soon?" Magni's brow raised.

"That's breaking the rules." Modi chuckled nervously.

"Well, it's not like he was ever one to follow the rules anyway, isn't that right?" Zeus laughed.

"Yeah, Ra just started giving him a… just punishment…" Hathor explained with a smirk.

Shurry's howl finally died down, his magic soon flashed the world over, healing any other injuries people may have had. Though, he couldn't restore stamina at the moment as he himself was spent, signified by him once again returning to humanoid form. He was about to stumble when…

"Don't worry Shurry, I got you now."... "You've made me proud, my nephew." She said, floating her tail around brushing it against him.

"Aunty Lyca…" Shurry murmured, with a weak smile, crying. "I'm sorry…" He said, rubbing his face of tears. "It's been a long time… I can't wait to introduce you to some wonderful people." He said, wagging his tail side to side.

"We can worry about that later, you need a nap. I know how you get when you're completely spent. You earned it."

"T-thank you, Aunty Lyca."

"Pfft, thank you… Thank you for rising to the task. And I'm sorry for laying it entirely on your shoulders."

"I wasn't alone…" Shurry smiled weakly, using his tail to point towards the many adventurers he'd personally, and painstakingly trained for this war to clear the surface. "I had many allies." He said, finally succumbing to exhaustion, slumping down into Lyca's hug.

"It's been so long since I held you like this. It makes the training I did in Tenkai all worth it. I'd be willing to bet my sister is pouting with jealousy right about now though." Lyca giggled. "Let's return to Orario, my nephew is in need of a nice long rest. Let us let him rest while the gods show us the replay of his battle."
