The 18th floor, Under Resort, the adventurers down there were already in the full swing of battle. The black spawn of Amphisbaena was nothing to sneeze at.
"Hurry up with those spells!"
"They're almost done!"
"Almost isn't good enough!"
"Just hold out a little bit longer!"
The fight was intense, many had already thanked their lucky stars that Hathor familia had paid to outfit them with the very best gear. Flame retardant equipment, and some garment to give auto soothing, not quite healing, but something that still made it easier to dull the pain.
"Spells ready!"
"Good! Fighters, now!"
With the order given, the vanguard, heaved their shields forward with a battle cry knocking the horde back, and creating an opening for the heavy hitter to charge in free of most annoyances.
An elf wearing a more revealing type of battle garment, and two large hammers, one crackling with fire, the other with lightning. She dashed through the remaining monsters like a comet, unwilling to give up the chance her allies gave her… Her target, the anti magic head of the Amphisbaena.
A Dwarf gruff, and powerful charged forward as well, his target, anything and everything that moved on the right flank.
A human charged alongside them as well, his target, anything that dared to interfere on their left flank.
With her two allies keeping the path clear, she remained focused, charging her magic, her resolve, and also… all the time training with the Hathor familia's hero, Origin Wolf, and others… She had learned after glow.
"They're nearly there! Prepare to fire!"
The elf began to glow like a sparking flame, as she leapt up to the air, summersaulting, twirling, building up a veritable sickening amount of speed.
The amphisbaena's heads snarled, preparing for its breath attacks… A fatal mistake.
Both breath attacks fired off, hitting their target, the elf consumed in white hot flames and anti-magic breath preventing any protection, then came two heavy blows to the base of the monster's necks. It was the Dwarf, and Human, using the monster rex as a bouncing board to turn around, and continue slaughtering monsters.
Both breath attacks were canceled as a consequence, slowly revealing that the elf, while burned to a rather immodest state, was still alive. Though now she was quite a bit more upset.
"YOUR BREATH STINKS!" She shouted with every fiber of fury she had contained within. "Strike, the target, fifth the fury of a burning forge, the strength of the ill-tempered sky falls, HAMMER DIVE!"
She fell to the ground faster than gravity, the torrent of her rotation, pounded right through the amphisbaena's scales, relieving its anti magic head. She landed on her feet, with a crack in the ground, and her legs. She was soon picked up by a fleet footed supporter, and brought back to the defensive line for treatment, and then got out of the way of…
"THUNDER STRIKE!"
"FIRE STORM!"
"TORRENT GALE!"
"EARTH NEEDLING!"
Many, many more spells were cast, and combined together, creating a synergistic effect with each other, opening up the path to the magic crystal.
"A clear shot! FIRE!"
A small unit aimed, and fired a ballista right into the monster crystal. The bolt buried itself deep into the crystal, the rope slowly tightened as someone began to retract the bolt, drawing the crystal with it… And… the Amphisbaena fell, turning into dust.
Cheers went out, until the level 7s decided to join them on the field.
"Huh? Why are you here?"
"The Amphisbaena is dead, but the next boss is on its way."
"You mean Udeaus…?"
"Yeah, that's not a fight worth risking you handle alone. There's a possibility it could have reached level 8."
"In that case, be my guest and join us here. It would be much appreciated!"
"Yeah, I know. That's why I'm here, duh."
…
"They successfully defeated one of the dungeon's irregular monster rexes!!! Outstanding! Absolutely amazing, don't you think so Ganesha?"
"I AM GANESHA!"
"Riveting insight!" … "Huh? You want to say something?"
"The elf lady was so cool with her hammers, she went, twirl and pow pow! Like bam and Pow!" A rather cheerful child spoke into the mic.
"Ahahah! That's right! She's been training hard, that's the result. It's amazing! So many people have grown so strong." … "Speaking of the strong, what is the strongest doing now?"
…
The one eyed black dragon let out his terrible roar so the whole world may hear him. The pain and fury, and abject anger contained within, made the little hairs on the back of the neck stand on end.
Then, it turned into a mass of pure magical energy, freeing itself from the trap on the ground, Lightning, black in color, arced and struck with a seemingly endless, and reckless abandon. Pillars of it ran across the ground, until combining with the dragon's mass of magic.
Moments later, it became clear that it was healing, or transforming. Both would be a pain…
"I'd like to stop it now, but I'd also rather not risk making it stronger than it already is…" Shurry said with a snarling sigh. "I suppose I'll just have to wait it out…"
And wait he did, the dragon's magical mass increased in size, then stopped, the black lightning storm halted, and…
The chaotic mass of magical energy began reforming, three heads, six wings and eyes, four tails, and a body twice as large as before. An aura of destructive black lightning surrounding it.
The wings flapped, and the heads wriggled, and shook… The tails flailed about, powerful lighting connecting each individual tail.
Its eyes blinked, focusing on Shurry, the target of its ire. And out of its three necks came a powerful roar, resounding through the world, in direct challenge to nature.
"Damn, could really go for a zilla skill right about now." Shurry snarled. "Hmm?" He noticed something. "Oh ho… You are one sore ass loser, Erebus! How dare you amp that detestable thing!"
Despite the fact he noticed, it was too late to prevent it. The dragon was now… A divine beast.
"Still gotta defeat it. Well, here goes nothing."
