Amir seriously considered the idea of building himself a suit of armor. With his current skillset, it wouldn't be difficult.
The challenge was that wearing armor all the time would be too much of a hassle—it would feel uncomfortable, and it would draw way too much attention.
He wasn't a Mandalorian who walked around with a helmet 24/7. Being too conspicuous would only increase the risk of exposing his identity.
Better to just rotate through different outfits. After all, he wasn't planning on visiting freezing wastelands like this one regularly.
Still, the appeal of armor was hard to resist. Amir made a mental note to find some time to build a set for fun. As he surveyed his surroundings, the thought excited him.
Even without armor, he could at least build himself a sturdy mechanical exoskeleton—something that could cover just his arms would already be immensely helpful.
After all, the Force offered very little in terms of enhancing raw arm strength.
Thanks to his recent training, Amir had mastered using the Force to overcome his own gravitational limitations. His jumping ability had drastically improved.
With only average effort, he could now leap up to ten meters high. Anything higher was still difficult, but he could feel there was plenty of room for growth.
Additionally, overcoming gravity improved his speed and agility significantly.
A mechanical exosuit to boost his upper-body strength would be extremely practical.
Obi-Wan might call it brutish, but Amir didn't mind getting mechanical assistance when needed.
It was really just an enhanced version of the functions already built into his wrist bracer.
In the event of an emergency—when emotions or mental strain disrupted his connection to the Force—the exosuit could still function. That's where tech really shined.
After scouting the surrounding area for a while, Amir returned to the ship, opened the cargo hold, and hauled out a cylindrical device.
It was a sonic scanner that could map terrain within a one-kilometer radius and automatically render a 3D map.
After a short walk, Amir planted the scanner near the base of the snow mountain, embedding it deep into the ice. He then retreated to higher ground and observed from afar through binoculars.
Many animals could hear sonic frequencies imperceptible to humans. Some aggressive species would attack sources of unpleasant sounds—it was a common occurrence.
That's why Amir observed from a distance—to prevent wild creatures from damaging the scanner during its mapping process.
He also didn't want to be ambushed by any predators lurking nearby.
In the Outer Rim, many planets remained largely unexplored—especially barren ones like this, with nothing but snow and ice. There might be minerals underground, but the yield wasn't worth the cost of extraction.
As a result, much of the local terrain and wildlife remained unknown. Constant vigilance was the only way to ensure survival.
The scanner needed about half an hour to complete its scan. His clothes were warm enough, and it was still daytime, so waiting here for a while wouldn't be an issue.
BD-4 remained on Amir's back—if it jumped down, the snow would swallow it instantly.
And once it got wet, the melted snow could wreak havoc on its circuitry.
Before leaving the ship, Amir had covered BD-4's head with a cloth as a precaution.
Everything was ready. Amir squatted down in the snow and waited quietly.
Snow continued to fall relentlessly, slowly forming a thin white layer over Amir's shoulders. If things went on like this, he'd look like a snowman in half an hour.
But he didn't have to wait that long. Soon, Amir frowned.
He could feel vibrations coming from beneath the ground—faint, but unmistakable.
Quickly scanning the area, he saw the same peaceful landscape: snow-covered plains, occasional hills. Nothing looked out of place.
That made the sensation all the more ominous.
He stayed calm, confirming that his current location was still relatively safe. If something went wrong, he could retreat to the ship immediately.
Through the binoculars, he spotted a few white snow-mice cautiously poking their heads out of the ground. Once they confirmed it was safe, they darted off into the distance.
The vibrations continued, ever so subtly, but still—nothing unusual appeared.
"Bee-dee-beep!" BD-4 suddenly jumped on Amir's shoulder.
Startled, Amir whipped around—just in time to see a ship burst out of an icy canyon a hundred meters away.
Clinging to the hull were two enormous, worm-like creatures. They thrashed and tore at the already battered ship with snapping jaws.
The vessel spun midair in a desperate maneuver and finally managed to shake the creatures loose. But instead of crashing, the two beasts spread thin wings from their backs, gliding smoothly back into the crevice below.
Now free, the damaged ship circled once in the air, spotted the Voyager nearby, and headed straight toward it.
Trailing smoke, the old freighter—clearly a worn-out model retired by the Trade Federation—crash-landed in the snow near Amir. It carved twin trails through the snowdrifts before screeching to a stop just ahead.
Amir gave BD-4 a pat and subtly adjusted the position of his lightsaber under his coat for a quick draw.
The scanner still needed a few minutes, but at least there didn't seem to be any further threat.
Turning around, Amir walked toward the crashed ship. The ramp creaked and clanked, struggling a few times before finally slamming down.
A dark-haired human emerged.
"Damn slug freaks—what the hell set them off?" he muttered, looking ahead. Then he spotted Amir and called out:
"You! Kid! How'd you find this place? Why are you even here?"
Amir didn't recognize the man and hesitated to respond.
"Can't hear me? Huh?!"
After a quick internal calculation, Amir replied from a distance, "I'm an archaeologist. Heard there's an ancient structure around here."
He was testing the man to see how much he knew.
"An archaeologist? Hah! You serious?" The man shoved his hands into his pockets and flipped his heavy coat over his shoulder.
"I get it! Young guy, trying to save face—it's tomb-raiding, right? No shame in it!"
Amir blinked, thrown off by the bluntness, then nodded.
"I actually found something," the man continued. "Big structure inside the mountain. You can even see broken stones down in that canyon."
"If this really is a tomb—who the hell was buried in a place like this, huh? Must've been some big shot!"
Amir said nothing, just nodded dumbly.
"Tell you what, kid—we met by fate. My ship's trashed anyway. Let's make a deal."
"What kind of deal?"
"You want into that busted old ruin. I wanna get off this frozen hellhole. You help me, I help you. What do you say?"
At that moment, the scanner flashed green in the distance—scan complete.
"… …"
"… …"
"So you're the one blasting sonic waves all over the place?! I knew that's what set those damn beasts off!"
