Chapter 2 - Chapter One: The Fracture

7:00 AM

The alarm clock rang.

Zephyr—a young man of average height, with jet-black hair, dark eyes, and sun-kissed skin—stirred from his sleep. His face was unremarkable, save for a small mole beneath his lower lip. He reached out, silenced the alarm, stretched briefly, and then rose from his bed to begin his usual morning routine.

After washing his face and getting dressed in simple clothes, he made his way downstairs to the kitchen, where his father was reading the newspaper and his mother was preparing breakfast. He sat down, took a few bites of eggs and toasted bread, and ruffled the hair of his little sister, Rina—a girl with short brown hair and matching eyes—who was dressed in her school uniform, ready to leave.

His mother spoke in a warm tone:

"Don't be late for dinner today. We've invited your uncle and his family."

Zephyr sighed, replying with a hint of reluctance:

"Alright… I'll try."

He said goodbye to his family and stepped out of the house, thinking it would be just another ordinary day.

As he walked toward his workplace, he passed by the usual café on the corner of the neighborhood. From inside, the loud television broadcasted the morning news:

Anchor: "The International Astronomical Observatory has reported strange cosmic phenomena, including unexpected stellar explosions at the edge of our solar system and sudden collisions between asteroids and comets with no prior warning. Astronomers suggest these anomalies appeared from nowhere, with no detectable signs beforehand."

Co-anchor: "Many on social media are panicking, claiming this is the end of the world."

Zephyr smirked and thought to himself:

"The end of the world? Again? Same nonsense every time."

But suddenly—without warning—the sky shifted into unnatural colors, followed by a deafening explosion, like a miniature nuclear bomb had gone off above the city.

Then came a voice—human, yet speaking in an incomprehensible language:

"As if I would allow you to destroy this planet…"

Black cracks tore through the air itself, like rips in the fabric of reality. Then—complete silence.

The city was reduced to rubble. People burned, crushed, or simply vanished.

As for Zephyr—he was swallowed by one of the fractures… into an unknown fate.

Where did he go? What became of him?

Only he knows.
