Axel forced the door open once again, ignoring the slight tremor of embarrassment.
He didn't hesitate this time. He stepped directly into the line of fire, his weapon already raised and blazing. He quickly eliminated all the men standing at the entrance to the room.
He paid no attention to the stream of bullets that flew his way, impacting his armor. Even though he was physically shoved backward by the sheer kinetic force of those impacts, he remained completely uninjured, precisely because of the highly advanced protective suit he was wearing.
It was only after every opponent outside the door was dead and the gunfire had ceased that Axel finally signaled to both Hunter and Lilith. "Let's go."
Hunter and Lilith simply nodded their heads. Even though they had not participated in the brief, decisive firefight, they were supremely confident in Axel's ability to eliminate those men. When Axel ordered them to follow, they moved after him dutifully.
