Axel took a deep breath to steady himself, forcing his heartbeat to calm after nearly jumping at the sudden voice behind him. He turned around quickly and forced a small smile. "It's my sister, Mar," he said smoothly, his voice light though his palms still felt clammy. "You don't need to worry about it." Without giving Marlon a chance to say anything else, Axel cut the call short and slipped his phone back into his pocket.
He turned fully toward Jayvaughn, trying to sound casual. "How long have you been standing there?"
Jayvaughn's expression was soft, calm as ever. "I just got here," he answered. "But I heard you saying someone was jealous of our love." He gave Axel a teasing look before his gaze drifted past him. His eyes landed on the wooden swing nestled in the middle of the garden, and his lips curved slightly. "Do you want me to push you?"
Axel blinked in surprise, then his smile brightened and he nodded quickly. "Yes."
