Chapter 21 - Charpter 20 Charizard?

Gilgamesh burst through the doors of the Pokémon Center, a triumphant grin plastered across his face. "Misty, you won't believe what I caught!" he exclaimed, holding up a Poké Ball.

Misty, who had been pacing anxiously, immediately rushed over. "Gilgamesh, I was so worried! " Her worried expression softened as she saw the excitement in his eyes.

"Sorry, I just had to get this!" he said, tossing the Poké Ball into the air. With a flash of light, Dreepy appeared, hovering delicately before them.

Misty's eyes widened. "Wow, that's incredibly rare! A Dreepy!" she breathed, recognizing the elusive Dragon/Ghost-type Pokémon from the Galar region.

"Yeah, and it's not even from around here," Gilgamesh boasted, beaming. "But I got it! The only thing is, it's not at full power yet. It's an Elite Pokémon, but it needs a little boost to really shine."

Dreepy floated gently, its large, curious eyes blinking as it looked between Gilgamesh and Misty.

After their exciting catch, Gilgamesh and Misty found a quiet inn in Celadon City to settle down for the night. The next morning, Gilgamesh was up bright and early, his mind set on one thing: challenging the local Gym Leader.

"Alright, Charmeleon," he whispered, looking at the sleeping Pokémon curled up beside his bed. "Today's the day we show Erika what we're made of!" He carefully picked up the Poké Ball and secured it to his belt.

He met Misty downstairs, who was already enjoying a cup of tea. "Morning, sleepyhead," she teased gently. "Ready for your big challenge?"

Gilgamesh grinned, a glint of determination in his eyes. "You bet! Erika won't know what hit her. And with Charmeleon and his other Pokémon by my side, we're unstoppable!"

Gilgamesh and Misty arrived at the Celadon City Gym, a large building adorned with lush greenery. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of various flowers. A gym trainer, tending to a potted Oddish, looked up as they entered.

"Here to challenge Erika?" the trainer asked, a friendly smile on her face. "You'll have to get through me first!"

Gilgamesh readily accepted, and with Charmeleon's powerful Ember attacks and quick movements, he swiftly defeated the staff trainer's Grass-type Pokémon. Charmeleon, though not yet at its peak, showed incredible potential.

After his victory, Gilgamesh, fueled by adrenaline, approached the central platform where Erika, the Gym Leader, stood, surrounded by an array of beautiful plants. Her long, green hair cascaded over her shoulders, and her serene expression belied her reputation as a formidable trainer.

"Erika, I would like to challenge you!" Gilgamesh declared, his voice ringing with confidence.

Erika's eyes, calm and perceptive, met his. A small smile touched her lips. "Alright then, I accept your challenge."

The tension in the gym thickened as Gilgamesh and Erika prepared for their battle.

"Alright, Charmeleon, go!" Gilgamesh shouted, sending his fiery companion onto the battlefield. Charmeleon landed with a confident snarl, its tail flame burning brightly.

Erika, with an elegant sweep of her arm, released her Pokémon. "Go, Gloom!"

A small, bipedal Pokémon with large, drooping petals and a perpetual look of dazed contentment appeared.

Gloom stared at Charmeleon with its half-closed eyes, a faint, sweet aroma emanating from its petals.

Charmeleon and Gloom locked gazes, the air crackling with an unspoken challenge. Each Pokémon stood ready, a silent promise of determination in their eyes.

"Charmeleon, use Ember!" Gilgamesh commanded, his voice sharp with anticipation.

Charmeleon roared, gathering flames in its mouth before unleashing a volley of fiery projectiles towards Gloom.

Erika remained calm. "Gloom, use Sleep Powder!" she instructed softly.

As the embers flew, Gloom began to shake its petals, releasing a cloud of fine, shimmering golden dust that drifted towards Charmeleon, aiming to lull the fiery Pokémon into a deep slumber.

The Ember projectiles struck Gloom, enveloping it in a burst of orange and red. Gloom flinched, but the Sleep Powder had already been released. The golden dust spread rapidly, catching Charmeleon just as its attack landed.

Charmeleon let out a surprised cough, its fiery tail flickered uncertainly, and its eyes began to droop. It swayed on its feet for a moment, fighting against the sudden drowsiness.

"Charmeleon, stay awake!" Gilgamesh urged, but it was too late. With a final, heavy blink, Charmeleon's eyes closed, and it slumped to the ground, fast asleep.

A gasp rippled through the onlookers, including Misty, who bit her lip nervously.

Erika's serene expression remained unchanged. "A well-placed Sleep Powder, if I do say so myself," she remarked softly. "What will you do now, Gilgamesh?"

Gilgamesh's jaw tightened. He knew Sleep Powder was a signature move of Grass-type Pokémon, but he hadn't anticipated Gloom's speed. He quickly recalled Charmeleon, the Poké Ball clicking shut with a soft thud.

"That was a good move, Erika," Gilgamesh conceded, his mind racing. He had to think fast. He didn't have another Fire-type, and Erika's Gym specialized in Grass-types. He needed something that could resist Gloom's attacks or hit it hard.

He looked at his remaining Poké Balls, weighing his options. He had a few choices, but one seemed more promising than the others.

"Alright, then!" Gilgamesh declared, grabbing another Poké Ball from his belt. "You may have put Charmeleon to sleep, but this battle isn't over yet! Go, Nidoking!"

With a flash of light, his Nidoking emerged, a powerful bipedal Pokémon with formidable horns and spikes. It landed with a heavy thud, its muscular frame radiating raw power. Nidoking let out a guttural roar, its piercing red eyes fixed on Gloom.

Erika's gaze remained serene, but a faint flicker of interest appeared in her eyes. "A Nidoking, hm? An interesting choice. Let's see how it fares against Gloom."

Nidoking's roar echoed through the gym, a stark contrast to Gloom's placid demeanor. The sheer presence of the Poison/Ground-type Pokémon seemed to shift the atmosphere.

"Nidoking, use Earthquake!" Gilgamesh commanded, seizing the initiative.

Nidoking slammed its foot onto the gym floor with immense force. The ground trembled violently, cracks spiderwebbing across the polished surface. The tremors radiated outwards, heading directly for Gloom.

Erika's eyes widened slightly. "Gloom, dodge it!" she called out, a rare hint of urgency in her voice.

Gloom, despite its dazed appearance, attempted to lift its heavy body and move, but the sudden, intense shaking of the ground made it stumble. The full force of the Earthquake rippled through it, sending the Grass/Poison-type Pokémon reeling. Gloom cried out, its petals drooping even further.

"Now, Nidoking, Sludge Wave!" Gilgamesh pressed, seeing his opening.

Nidoking gathered a noxious, bubbling wave of purple sludge in front of it, then unleashed it in a torrent towards the still-reeling Gloom. The putrid wave crashed over Gloom, leaving it covered in the corrosive goo. Gloom shrieked, clearly in distress from the super-effective attack.

Erika's calm facade finally broke. "Gloom, hang in there!" she urged, her voice filled with concern. "Use Moonlight!"

Despite the severe damage, Gloom managed to absorb some of the surrounding light, its petals faintly glowing as it tried to restore some of its health. However, the Sludge Wave had done significant damage, and the recovery was minimal.

"Don't let up, Nidoking! Finish it with a Mega Kick!" Gilgamesh bellowed, determined to end this quickly.

Nidoking charged forward, its powerful leg winding back. With a surge of incredible force, it delivered a devastating kick directly to Gloom. The impact sent Gloom flying, and it landed with a soft thud, unconscious.

The referee raised his flag. "Gloom is unable to battle! Nidoking wins!"

A triumphant grin spread across Gilgamesh's face. "Alright, Nidoking! You were awesome!"

Erika sighed, recalling her fallen Gloom. She looked at Gilgamesh with renewed respect. "My, my, Gilgamesh. Your Nidoking is truly powerful. You certainly caught me off guard." She then gave a faint smile. "However, this battle is not yet over. You still have two more Pokémon to face."
