Chapter 23 - Chapter 22 Charizard part 3?

Let's continue the battle.

Scyther stood ready, but Gilgamesh had a different plan. "Scyther, return!" he called out, recalling his victorious Bug/Flying-type. He reached for the Poké Ball containing his first Pokémon, the one that had fallen asleep earlier.

"Go, Charmeleon!"

he declared, tossing the Poké Ball.

With a flash of light, Charmeleon reappeared on the battlefield. It blinked, still groggy from the Sleep Powder, and shook its head, its tail flame flickering weakly.

Erika's serene expression faltered slightly, replaced by a look of genuine surprise. "Gilgamesh, why send out your sleeping Charmeleon?" she asked, a hint of confusion in her voice.

Gilgamesh met her gaze, a determined glint in his eyes. "Because, Erika, I want to finish this battle with my strongest Pokémon. Charmeleon may have been caught off guard before, but it's ready to prove itself now!"

Charmeleon, hearing Gilgamesh's words, let out a low growl, its eyes narrowing as it focused on Tangela, a newfound resolve burning within its fiery spirit.

Charmeleon, still shaking off the remnants of its sleep, now stood facing the seemingly innocuous Tangela. The air thrummed with a renewed intensity.

"Charmeleon, start with Flamethrower!" Gilgamesh commanded, wanting to overwhelm Tangela immediately.

Charmeleon roared, unleashing a powerful torrent of searing hot flames from its mouth. The intense stream of fire surged towards Tangela, threatening to engulf the vine-covered Pokémon.

Erika's voice was swift and calm. "Tangela, use Bind!"

Before the Flamethrower could fully connect, Tangela quickly extended one of its long, elastic vines. With incredible speed and precision, the vine snaked out and wrapped tightly around Charmeleon's leg, attempting to hold it in place. The Flamethrower wavered slightly as Charmeleon was momentarily restrained.

"Don't let it get you, Charmeleon! Break free with Metal Claw!" Gilgamesh urged.

Charmeleon's claws glowed with a metallic sheen. With a powerful, desperate swipe, it slashed at the vine binding its leg. The sharp metal claw cut through the thick vine, and Charmeleon pulled its leg free, narrowly escaping a prolonged entanglement. The Flamethrower, though slightly disrupted, still connected with Tangela, causing it to recoil from the super-effective damage.

"Now, Charmeleon, press the attack with Dragon Claw!" Gilgamesh shouted, seeing his advantage.

Charmeleon's claws glowed with a fierce, emerald energy. It charged forward with surprising speed, its glowing claws raised high, ready to deliver a powerful slash.

"Tangela, use Vine Whip!" Erika responded, aiming to keep Charmeleon at bay.

Tangela's remaining vines lashed out, attempting to intercept Charmeleon and strike it before it could land its Dragon Claw. The vines whipped through the air, but Charmeleon, fueled by its desire to prove itself, ducked and weaved, its draconic power making it surprisingly agile. With a swift, brutal strike, Charmeleon's Dragon Claw connected squarely with Tangela.

Tangela recoiled with a cry, its vines flailing wildly. It was clearly struggling against the onslaught of powerful attacks.

"Finish it, Charmeleon! Use Ember!" Gilgamesh roared, a triumphant grin on his face.

Charmeleon, its tail flame blazing, let out a final, concentrated burst of embers. The small, fiery projectiles peppered Tangela, and with a final shudder, the vine Pokémon slumped to the ground, unconscious.

The referee raised his flag. "Tangela is unable to battle! The winner is Gilgamesh!"

As the words left the referee's mouth, a brilliant light enveloped Charmeleon. The light intensified, swirling around the Fire-type Pokémon. Charmeleon's body began to stretch, its snout elongating, its wings sprouting from its back. Its tail flame grew larger and more vibrant. The evolution was rapid, dazzling the onlookers.

When the light faded, standing where Charmeleon once was, was a majestic Charizard. It let out a powerful, triumphant roar that echoed through the gym, its mighty wings unfurling, casting a shadow over the battlefield.

Misty rushed forward, embracing Gilgamesh excitedly. "You did it! You won, Gilgamesh! And Charmeleon... it evolved!"

Erika sighed, a small, genuine smile gracing her lips as she recalled Tangela. She looked at Gilgamesh, a genuine admiration in her eyes. "You fought exceptionally well, Gilgamesh. Your Charmeleon showed incredible resolve to overcome its initial setback, and then... to evolve at such a pivotal moment." She then reached into her pocket. "For defeating me, the Celadon City Gym Leader, I present you with the Rainbow Badge." She held out a beautiful, multi-colored badge. "And as a token of your skill, please accept this TM for Giga Drain."

Gilgamesh's heart swelled with pride as he took the badge and the TM. He looked at his newly evolved Charizard, who nuzzled his hand affectionately. "Thank you, Erika! This means a lot!"

"Now go forth, and continue your journey," Erika said, her voice gentle but firm. "The world of Pokémon awaits your challenge, and I look forward to hearing of your future accomplishments."
