Chapter 24 - Mist

"So how do you suppose I did that? how do you suppose I got past his guards?" I ask him with a smile.

I was getting interested in seeing how this will play out.

"Of course you would have had some assistance from at least a Martial Master, but then how could someone such as you possibly get the assistance of a Martial Master.

So you must have hired numerous Peak level Martial Experts." He says.

Boring! just like his father, he carries the same thought of me having accomplices.

Well, I mean it would be extremely difficult to believe that a First Rate Martial Artist beat an Early Peak, not to talk of one who had just opened his dantian skipping through Third and Second rate to become a First Rate.

It just wouldn't make sense.

Then to think that First Rate would kill so many Peak Level Martial Experts, that's just too absurd.

"I see, and how do you suppose I got so many Experts Ximen Jong? or have you forgotten I am but the son of a whore?" I taunt him a little.

"Even though the son of a whore, as the son of the Ximen Patriarch you would be entitled to some finances." He says.

"And you believe those little finances to be enough to get myself Martial Experts? Do you even know how much it takes to hire just one Early Peak Martial Expert?" I say out to him laughing at his dumb remark.

"Or are you all cheap?" I ask the guards still laughing.

He lowers his head in embarrassment realizing he had just said rubbish.

"Well? do you have anything else to say?" I ask him.

He remains silent with his head down.

Huh? that's it? I genuinely expected and wanted more.

"Well if that's all you have to say, I would like to get back to what I was doing, if you'll excuse me of course?" I taunt him a little.

He heaves a short sigh before looking at me and saying;

"Well all this bickering isn't of any importance.

I have come here to arrest you as a suspect to the murder of Ximen Lao."

Huh? what nonsense is he saying now.

"And with what proof, what authority and on whose orders?" I ask him.

"On my authority as the First Young Master of the Ximen Clan and on my order, as for proof? well has that ever been viable in the face of power?" He replies with a smug look.

This bastard, what does he think he's doing.

"You have no such authority." I say to him with a stern look.

"Well what is authority? if I tell the guards to arrest you and they do isn't that me demonstrating authority?

So for your sake, I suggest you do not resist." He says to me still with that smug face.

I heave a short sigh.

"And if I do resist? what would you do about it?" I ask him.

"You are just a First Rate, I have three Early Peak Martial Experts here with me, you would just be making things rough and difficult for yourself." He says confidently.

Naaa that would most definitely not be enough to stop me, but going against them could make me a suspect.

And I can't kill them all since that would prove I am capable and thereby make me a number one suspect.

Do I really have to just follow them?

"Fine, so where do you plan on taking me? to the prison? or to the Elders?" I ask him but rather than replying or looking happy he looked annoyed.

Ahhh, I see, he really can't just arrest me, but if I resisted he could cook up some excuse and use it against me, that was his plan.

"Ohh my God I'm just too smart." I brag to myself as I stroke my chin.

"What is it Ximen Jong? would you like to come again tomorrow since everywhere is now dark?" I say to him with a smile.

"I'll be back!" He says as he turns, ordering his guards with him.

They left and I go over to close the gate.

I heave a short sigh.

"For how long would I keep playing this children game?" I ask no one as I stand there staring at the beautiful sky whose stars were beginning to come out.

I heave a longer sigh as I go back into my room.

T.P.P.

Ximen Jong angrily storms out of David's courtyard.

He moves to his own courtyard, enters his room and drops on a chair in his room.

"That bastard, he wasn't suppose to just go along with it, he was supposed to resist." He murmurs to himself.

"Well doesn't matter much, I'll have another opportunity.

Though a little sad, now that that good for nothing younger brother of mine, Ximen Lao is gone, the position of Clan Master is basically mine.

But I can't just relax, I have to remove any possible possibilities, even though tiny, an ant must be taken out if it falls on the bed of the master." He says to himself as he stands up.

"Mist!" He calls out.

A figure clad in total black suddenly appears behind him.

"You summoned me Young Master." Mists says as he goes down to one knee.

"Go back to monitoring Ximen Yeong, and bring back every information, no matter how little." He tells Mist, still backing him.

"Yes Young Master!" Mist responds.

"You may depart" Ximen Jong says.

Mist vanishes just as he appeared.

Ximen Jong goes back to seat on his chair heaving a heavy sigh.

"Ximen Yeong, why do I feel so bothered about such a young child?" He questions himself as he places his hand over his face.

A few meters away Mist appears inside David's courtyard behind the gate.

He moves stealthily, making no sound.

He moves to the top of a tree in the courtyard where he could possibly see the inside of David's room through a window.

As he squats down he begins trying to look into the room.

From the darkness, a pair of eyes suddenly appear behind him.

"Hello!" The owner of the eyes says.
