Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: The Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy Is Here to Pick a Fight?

The Chapter get Retranslated

Looking at the pink plate, Xie Yulan couldn't see anything special about it.

"This thing can enhance the talent of Psychic-type Pokémon, and even allow their strength to increase rapidly."

Jiang Chen did not tell Xie Yulan about the true origins of this Mind Plate. He only told her about the abilities it possessed, though in reality, its power was far more profound than he let on. Truly, the only one capable of fully harnessing the power within this plate was Arceus; for now, this was the only way Jiang Chen could utilize it.

"If it's as you say, Alakazam might be able to break through to the Champion-level in less than a month," Xie Yulan said, her voice tinged with pleasant surprise. She knew exactly what a Champion-level Pokémon represented.

Were Elite Four-level Pokémon common? Compared to the general population, their numbers were indeed small, but they weren't exactly rare for instance, Jiang Chen's homeroom teacher, Old Zhang, owned one.

Champion-level Pokémon, however, were incomparably scarce. There were very few Champion Trainers in the entire world who could assemble a full team of six Champion-level Pokémon. In Xia Country, such creatures either belonged to the Champions, the powerhouses among the Twelve Elite Four Members, or reigned as overlords in the wild.

In the afternoon, Xie Yulan returned to the company. Jiang Chen decided not to put his Pokémon through training today. Instead, he sat on the sofa with Kirlia, watching a television drama titled "Adventures of Magikarp."

Suddenly, his phone rang on the table.

"Zhao Qian is calling? I wonder if something happened." Jiang Chen picked up.

"Holy crap, big brother! Why didn't you come today? Do you have any idea what's happening at school?" Zhao Qian's voice was frantic.

"What's the big deal? Let's hear it," Jiang Chen replied, his interest piqued.

"Those brats from the Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy actually came to our school to provoke us! They're calling us trash and publicly demanding to challenge you. They've already arrogantly defeated several of our students." Zhao Qian's tone was thick with indignation. "Right now, School Beauty Ling is in a match against a guy named Li Hua. Do you want to come and see?"

Jiang Chen knew of this Li Hua; he was ranked fourth in the Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy's Campus Ranking Tournament and was set to be an opponent in the Friendship Exchange Match a week from now.

"Coming here specifically to provoke us? Have they lost their minds?" Jiang Chen frowned. It was a classless move, but if they were allowed to win on Tianhai Pokémon Academy's home turf, the school would lose face.

"Who knows what those Imperial Capital bastards are thinking!" Zhao Qian cursed. By now, his hatred extended to the entire Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy.

"I'll be there in a moment."

If it were just Li Hua, Jiang Chen believed Ling Wanqiu could handle it, but he feared they hadn't come alone. Though their character left much to be desired, their strength was undeniably formidable.

"Great! As long as you show up, we're good," Zhao Qian said, his voice brimming with excitement. The teachers found it difficult to intervene in student disputes, and without Jiang Chen, the students lacked a pillar of support. After all, Jiang Chen was the strongest at Tianhai.

"Did something happen at school?" Ning Ya asked. She hadn't heard the whole conversation, but she had caught the gist of it.

"The students from the Imperial Capital are acting out. They've come to Tianhai to cause trouble. As the academy's number one, if I don't show my face, they'll call me a coward."

Jiang Chen returned his Pokémon to their Poké Balls, then released Alakazam, letting it use teleport to bring him and Kirlia to the school.

The moment he arrived, Jiang Chen saw Ling Wanqiu's Fraxure defeat the opponent's Oshawott. Indeed, Ling Wanqiu's Axew had already evolved into a Fraxure, and even her Dratini was on the verge of evolution.

"School Beauty Ling is as strong as expected!"

"Way to go, School Beauty Ling! Beat that bastard!"

"That prick dares to come to our school and look for trouble? He must have a death wish."

Several hot-headed students were already rolling up their sleeves. Li Hua's face was ashen following his defeat.

"Is defeating our Imperial Capital Academy's fourth-ranked student really something for your school's second-ranked student to be so happy about? Besides, Li Hua had already gone through several battles just now," a voice called out.

"Shouting insults... is this the level of moral quality at Tianhai Pokémon Academy?"

Zhao Xiao stepped forward then, looking at the Tianhai students with pure disdain. Ling Wanqiu stared back, her expression turning cold; this guy was the leader of the group. As students of this academy, no one wanted to see outsiders strutting around their campus acting superior.

"You have the nerve to talk about moral quality? Coming to Tianhai to crash the place? You represent the Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy, yet you've dragged its reputation through the mud."

"This might be your personal behavior, but your actions don't lift my low opinion of your academy at all."

Jiang Chen walked into the scene slowly.

"Jiang Chen is here!"

"Young Master Jiang is finally here! It was so frustrating watching them act all high and mighty while calling him a coward."

"What even is the Imperial Capital Pokémon Academy anyway?"

"Well said, Jiang Chen! From now on, I'm an anti-fan of the Imperial Capital for life!"

The two schools had always been rivals, but the relationship had devolved from friendly competition into a bitter feud. However, until today, no one had ever crossed the line to provoke the other on their own campus.

"Why did you take the day off?" Ling Wanqiu asked in a low voice as Jiang Chen approached.

"I had some good news and wanted to celebrate at home. I didn't expect a bunch of clowns to ruin my mood," Jiang Chen said, shrugging his shoulders. He wasn't a saint; how could he not be angry when people came to his school to start trouble?

Jiang Chen didn't lower his voice. The word "clowns" rang out clearly, reaching Zhao Xiao's ears. A burst of laughter erupted from the surrounding crowd.

"The clowns ruined Young Master Jiang's mood. Shouldn't they apologize?"

"That's right! Apologize to Young Master Jiang immediately!"

This was Tianhai's home ground, and the outsiders were asking for a verbal thrashing. Unless Zhao Xiao had the ability to defeat Jiang Chen, there was no way the crowd would quiet down.
