Cedric was waiting outside my bedroom doors when I stepped out. He looked at me for a few seconds, as if in admiration of the dress I wore, or how much my face was transformed by the make up applied on it.
His eyes were gentle, not judging, not blaming, only sympathetic. Whereas mine was cold in a desperate attempt to shield how I really felt from showing.
Maybe it was best they left. They obviously didn't deserve my forgiveness in the first place.
Thoughts like this about the twins should help me feel better, but it didn't seem to be working.
"You okay?" Cedric asked in a low voice, and I quickly shook my head. Then, realizing myself, I nodded instead.
"You can tell me–" But he was interrupted by a high sounding voice which rang out from behind me.
"You look breathtakingly beautiful." I knew it was Kael from the voice, but I turned to face him as well, but not before seeing the grimace on Cedric's face.
"Thank you," I said simply.
