Zayne frowned. "Why would I have our kind, guarding my mate? They would leave their scent on her. What if any of them bites her?"
"Well, that's better than her dying, no?"
The death stare he gave him was enough to prompt Alessio out of his seat. He backed away, lifting his hands defensively. "I get it, Zayne. I understand why you're worried. But you're going to pay them to do their job. They won't have any reason to even think of marking her. Besides, she's human. You're probably the only one in our kind who'd ever want to mate with a human."
"Sit down," Zayne said.
The younger man gulped and cautiously took a step towards the chair. "Should I really sit down?"
"Alessio, don't make me repeat myself."
"Your fist hurts."
"What the hell do you mean by that? I've only ever even touched you once and you know what you did."
"I said sorry for that!"
"Well, then, sit down?"
"Alright." Alessio sat down, eyeing him every now and then.
