"No sappy emotional speeches Hinata, you got so caught up you couldn't even dodge the pillow that I had just thrown at you. You still have a lot to learn. Tsk tsk." Miku said while shaking her head while shrugging her shoulders.
While Miku was trash talking she didn't notice that Hinata had picked the pillow off the ground and threw it at an incredible speed towards her. It took less than a second for Miku to go from gloating to being sent flying by a pillow strike.
"I guess you weren't paying attention Miku, to not be able to dodge a pillow thrown at you. Tsk Tsk." Hinata said in a mocking tone as Miku raised a thumb into the air while still lying down, acknowledging what Hinata said.
"You know the lass wasn't wrong, you should have been paying attention to your surroundings, though I will commend you for that pillow strike, it was masterfully executed." Bang both chided and parised Hinata, knowing that he had to keep the admonishing to a certain extent so that she doesn't start spiralling again.
"I- I understand Bang-Sensei, I will try to do better." Hinata said while clenching her fist to her side.
'Is she talking about in training, or her attacks aimed at Miku? Or maybe a little bit of both.' Bang thought with a wry smile.
"Very well, then get back into the starting position and get ready to continue, and I do not want you to use your Byakugan. I want your base instincts to improve, which will in turn make your response speed when activating your Byakugan to increase as well." Bang stated which caused Hinata to nod as it made sense.
Hinata calmly made her way back to the center of the field and heightened her senses to be able to respond to attacks faster than before.
As soon as Bang saw that she was ready he started the machines with the remote that Miku handed to him a moment ago. This time launching soft balls instead of rocks, that way even if Hinata got hit she should be able to push through the pain and continue.
At first she heard a projectile breaking through the wind coming from a position to her left, and expecting the attack she managed to move out the way in time before it could even come close. Then the nex6t moment she heard three more balls coming towards her.
'One from the left, one from the front, and the last one… From the Sky.' Hinata thought as she moved out of their path again, slowly starting to feel comfortable with the pace at which the attacks were coming.
Seeing that Hinata was getting used to the pace of attacks, Bang began to speed up. No longer launching just one volley at a time, he began to send them out continuously at differing intervals, the remote that Miku gave him wasn't a remote with buttons on it, the way that it worked was by him sending mental instructions to the remote, and the launchers responded to his orders. Or so that's what Miku told him.
Thinking that the attacks were going to come in another volley, but with more balls again, Hinata tried to hear where they were going to come from. She quickly realized after dodging the first couple attacks, that they kept on coming without a stop like they were. It threw her off her guard slightly and she managed to get grazed by one of the balls on her arms as she dodged one attack to barely get out of the path of another.
Hinata, relying too much on her sense of hearing to be able to hear when the launchers launched the balls and the friction they caused in the air while heading in her direction, didn't notice when a ball came in from her blindspot. It came at her not making any sounds at all, causing her to stagger as it hit her on her lower back. Which in turn made her get hit by a few more strikes as she fell to the ground.
Seeing that she fell down Bang stopped the attacks and waited for her to stand back up, "Hinata, you have more than just your sight and your hearing, use all of your senses, see the attacks coming your way, hear the sounds as it travels, whether it be the air resistance, or even a nearly silent humming coming from the attack. Use your sense of touch to feel the shifts in the air, many attacks will disrupt the air when coming towards you, even though not all will, use the air currents to predict the attack's path. Use your sense of smell to locate the objects in your immediate surroundings and notice when a scent changes positions. And use your sense of taste to bring in changes in air density and humidity, most energy based attacks will alter the environment, a fireball will make the area dryer, water wetter. Use all your senses to anticipate an attack and react accordingly."
Hearing Bang's instructions, Hinata nodded and noted this all to memory, realizing that this would be very important for her training.
"If you understand, get back into position and we will start again." Bang said simply, and even before Hinata managed to get back into her stance he started firing again and warned her after she managed to roll out of the way, "Not all attacks will be told to you beforehand, you need to always anticipate an attack, especially one you know might be coming. You did well to avoid that one."
Hinata felt a sense of pride at his praise but squashed it down when she felt more attacks flying straight towards her. She squatted down avoiding two and then immediately rolled to avoid four more and hopped into the air to avoid another one. She then noticed that the attacks started to curve in the air, no longer moving in a linear direction.
So she ran, and dodged, and rolled, and did all she could to avoid as best as she could, she managed to get hit a few more times, but immediately got back up before she could get struck again.
"Don't just dodge, redirect the ones that you can't avoid, don't be rigid in your movements, anticipate the attack and react in the best manner available to you." Bang advised from the side as he started to change what was being sent out to attack Hinata, a mixture of softballs, rocks, blunt arrows, and a few random objects. Miku had even sent out some blunt kunai knives and senbon needles as those were standard ninja tools.
Hinata quickly took to what Bang said and didn't just dodge all the attacks. Using palm strikes she made some of them veer off course into the path of another strike. She grabbed a kunai out of the air and used it to deflect other kunai and some senbon needles.
At this moment, seeing that Hinata had started to adjust to the attack rhythm, Miku quickly sent out some speakers all throughout the training area and had them start making random sounds to throw Hinata off balance. She used a variety of sounds ranging from loud explosion sounds, people screaming out loud, loud whistling sounds, and she even had one that started moaning.
Hearing that last speaker Bang sent Miku a glance and she looked away in guilt and immediately deactivated that speaker, for now at least.
The sounds immediately started to throw Hinata off as she had to use her other senses to compensate for being unable to hear the attacks coming unless they were right next to her. However even then she only took hits from a few more objects as she was quickly adjusting to the new situation causing Miku to click her tongue as she expected Hinata to falter more than what she did.
"HEY HINATA," Miku yelled which drew Hinata's attention causing her to get hit in the back of the head with a softball, making Hinata glare at Miku who rubbed the back of her head sheepishly as she continued, "IF YOU GET KNOCKED OUT I'LL GIVE YOU A LAP PILLOW."
Hinata felt a vein bulge on her forehead that made her think that her Byakugan would activate as she grabbed a softball out of the air as it was heading for her, and using the momentum of the ball she spun and launched it at Miku with an even greater speed. The ball managed to fly at an incredible pace and hit Miku straight in the face and she immediately fell backwards, the ball rolled away after she hit the ground, losing its momentum, and Miku's face was revealed, completely unharmed.
Miku sprang into a sitting position with her legs crossed and moved her arms into an X-shape and shook her head as she said, "I can tolerate all attacks, but I will never allow anyone to damage my beautiful face."
"Then how did your face not get injured but your head swelled after Hinata hit you on the top of your head?" Bang asked with curiosity.
Miku looked at Bang and said with a serious look, as if she were about to share an incredible truth about the world to him, "There are two reason; one: there is a difference between a tap to the head, and an attack to the face, I will never allow my face to be damaged."
"And the second reason?" Bang asked, already starting to feel exasperated from Miku.
Miku then got even more serious as she said in a deadpan tone, "Because of Plot."
Immediately after Miku was hit with another softball, this time to the side of the head as she went flying and rolled a few times on the ground. The attack obviously came from Hinata who was apparently paying attention to what Miku said.
Bang then ignored Miku again as he continued to instruct Hinata, "You did very well when you sent that ball towards Little Miku, and not because it got her to stop talking. But because of the way that you used the ball's own momentum in your strike. That is one of the key points in our Taijutsu style."
Hinata continued to dodge as she responded, "I understand Bang-Sensei, I will keep that in mind."
After that they kept increasing the difficulty as the time passed, and soon it had been two days since they started the training and Hinata could no longer continue from sheer exhaustion. She had only taken a few 15 minute breaks throughout the training session, and she didn't get any sleep.
Though she did end up getting that lap pillow that Miku talked about, quite a few at that, and she had to admit, reluctantly of course, that it was very comfortable and she managed to get by on no sleep in no small part to how relaxed she felt.
Before she managed to collapse, she heard her Sensei say, "You did well Hinata. You have progressed much faster than I have imagined, though you did end up eating all my food." That immediately caused Hinata to blush. "You have practically mastered the first stage of training that would take most others a few weeks if not months in just two days!"
Hearing Bang say that made Hinata feel proud of herself, after spending intense, 'high-quality' time with Bang, she no longer feels as anxious or tense around him as she did when she first arrived,
'Though, I'm pretty sure a big part of that was Miku being an idiot to lighten the mood.' Hinata thought to herself while glancing at the said person, who immediately puffed up like a peacock upon receiving said glance.
"Now, given the fact that you went the last six hours nonstop, without getting hit once, even when being so tired. You have successfully passed the first stage of training. It would be a good idea for you to get some rest and come back tomorrow for the next step in your training." Bang said, which caused Hinata to grimace as she imagined going back to her 'Family'. Of all the dirty looks, and muttering she would hear about how much of a failure and a disappointment she is as the daughter of the clan head.
Bang noticed the way she reacted and ignored it as this was something that she would have to face. Miku had told him a little about how Hinata was being treated, and he could tell she left out a lot, as it was Hinata's privacy.
"With that being said, you have accomplished what I required of you for now, and I need to prepare for the next step as well. So I believe it would be an opportune time for you to… Sleep." After which Hinata immediately passed out.
