Chapter 7 - First schoolday (7)

Lutz's POV

After the emotional farewell from my parents, I took my belongings and went straight to my dormitory room. It was located near the ground floor and labeled with the number 33.

I inserted the key and opened the door to a rather unremarkable space. The interior reminded me of something straight out of an anime from my previous world. The kitchen was connected to a small living room, and two separate doors led to the bathroom and my bedroom.

First, I checked the kitchen. I already knew that in this era, having a proper kitchen was a luxury. But this? They had only left me a space with stacked firewood.

Wait—there's a note attached to it.

"If needed, go to the caretaker and ask for firewood."

I was stunned. This type of accommodation was so primitive that I figured I might just eat at the canteen every day. Still, I didn't yet know how much the monthly subscription cost.

It was already pitch-dark outside, and if I stayed up too long, the risk of oversleeping on my first day would be real. Before bed, I gave the bathroom a quick inspection. Toilet, shower—basic, but enough.

Lying in bed, I let my thoughts drift.

How can I make millions in this world?

There were a few ideas floating in my mind. One of them was starting a casino. After all, the only gambling options here were horse racing and dice. Another plan: forming a mafia. Risky, sure, but the protection money alone could rival noble income.

I could even launder the earnings by founding a guild—then, if a civil servant came asking, I'd claim the high fees were due to "prestige services" and a large client base. All of whom would secretly be mafia members.

It sounded genius to me. But first—I'd need capital. The upcoming tournament could be the perfect opportunity. Maybe the prize would be money—or something valuable I could sell.

The next morning, I woke up exactly at sunrise.

I stepped into the shower, only to be greeted by a blast of cold water. I wondered what the nobles got in their rooms—warm water and scented soap, probably.

Afterward, I dressed, grabbed a pencil and a notepad, and headed out.

On my way, I saw many other students—some wearing luxurious outfits, others more humble ones like mine.

I was just about ten meters from the entrance to the 500 Block when a boy with average clothes politely addressed me.

He said he was from Class 1-B and that he was already trying to make friends—because of his low social status.

"We can meet again at lunch and talk about it," I replied.

Then, I entered the classroom: 1-D.

I could immediately feel the gazes.I wasn't sure whether they were judging me for my simple clothes, or just curious about their new classmate.

I didn't let it bother me. I chose a random, empty seat—with both sides still free.

A few minutes passed, and the room began to fill up.

On my left, a beautiful woman sat down—short blonde hair, sky-blue eyes. On my right, a man with dark blue hair and a look as cold as winter took his seat.

Then the class began. A red-haired woman walked to the front and greeted us all.

"Please sit."

"This is the first day of school, so don't expect to do many things."

"The first point on today's agenda will be the distribution of the school uniform."

Just as she finished her sentence, a notification from the System appeared in front of every student.

You have acquired the suitable Schola Aurei Veil uniform.
