The night sky was beautifully lit by the stars billions of lightyears away. The dim light on the table shone on the book I was reading. The sound of pages flipping could be heard occasionally. The library was quiet, it was serene.
After thinking things over a bit, I decided to learn how to use different elements. Though this will be a trail and error case. Since it's useless for me to learn magic. I can usually only create a mana circle up to it's second to last string then it fails.
I have to learn how to apply magic elemental particles to my body.
Like I did with the lighting attribute. Though this may cause me alot of damage. I can easily overcome that once I reached a balance in my elemental manacule mastery.
Manacules are the building blocks of all elements. It was due to shifting manacules from my surroundings into my legs and converting them into the lighting attribute through mana - that I could execute [flash]. But flash won't be enough.
I needed something new, something to accompany [flash]. Something to speed up my blade. And that's what led led to me learning about the wind and metal attributes. Though maintaining a balance in elements is hard. I have to use all the power in my arsenal.
I shifted my focus back to the book infront of me, in it was detailed illustrations describing the functions, uses and abilities of both metal and wind elemental attributes.
[Understanding] in effect: information retained, 52%
Just what I expected from an advanced book. The rate of understanding is getting lower. At this rate it will take at least a week to fully digest both topics.
"Guess that's it for tonight"
I put the book where it belonged, put on my blazer and stepped through the comfortable library doors, into the cold night air.
The breeze was cold. My breath escaped my lips like smoke from a chimney. The Academy was quiet. I checked the time - 21:56.
Strolling on my way to my dorm I took in all the sights of the Academy. The majestic moon. The tall clocktower in the center. The statue trapped in time.
The light from the windows of the dorms. The occasional sound of boisterous laughter from the boys in the boys' dorm who are still living their youth.
I arrived at my dormroom at about 22:11. The moment my head hit the pillow, I drifted away.
*****
Darkness. "Another one of those dreams?"
Something was different. Compared to the first dream which felt like nothingness at first - I could feel water around my feet. An orb flowed infront of me. As the water started to rise. First up to my knees. Then my torso. Then my neck. And lastly my head. I involuntary closed my eyes.
As I plunged into the depths. It felt lukewarm. Comfortable. My head was empty. I grabbed onto the orb that was infront of me. Then the world shattered like glass.
I found myself in a mansion with maids around me. I seemed to have been in a crib. Then that reality shattered.
I saw blood, flags, fire, the crest of the Arteries household. A noble household in high power.
"W-what is this?!" My mind was being overloaded with memories"
That reality shattered. I found myself infront of a grave - it read: "in loving memory of Amanda Veris. Next to me stood younger Caelum. Eyes void of emotion. He seemed soulless.
"I swear they'll pay... I swear it..." The he turned his face toward me.
His eyes stared into my soul.
Then-
I woke up. Sweat dripping from my body. My breathing was heavy.
