At that moment, as if sensing their Trainer's distress, the Poké Balls at Bai Mao's waist burst open with a sharp flash of red light.
"Careful!"
Master Lin shouted, already bracing himself.
Chen Xiaoxiao and Xiao Wang snapped to full alert as three Pokémon materialized around the unconscious Bai Mao.
The ground shook as sand whipped into the air, forming a violent storm one of the Pokémon had automatically activated its Sand Stream ability the instant it emerged.
A towering Tyranitar let out a thunderous roar, its presence alone enough to make the surrounding terrain tremble. Alongside it appeared Aggron, its steel armor glinting under the moonlight, and a bulky Bastiodon, whose shield-like face slammed into the earth with a metallic clang.
Sensing their fallen master, all three Pokémon went into a frenzy, launching attacks blindly at Chen Xiaoxiao and her allies.
"Dark Pulse!"
"Stone Edge!"
"X-Scissor!"
The assaults came in quick succession, a storm of beams, blades, and jagged boulders filling the night sky.
But the trio of trainers had been anticipating resistance. At the very first movement, Chen Xiaoxiao and the others shouted counter-orders, pulling their partners back in perfect synchronization.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Explosions rang out as attacks collided with the earth, scattering debris.
Xiao Wang, astride his Aerodactyl, caught his breath as he identified the opponents. "That's… Tyranitar, Aggron, and Bastiodon! He even commands a pseudo-legendary!"
His face twisted in grim realization Bai Mao truly lived up to his reputation as the ruthless leader of the poaching syndicate. His strength rivaled even Prince Hui's.
Chen Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes, pulling up her system readout:
Tyranitar (Lv. 79, Elite Peak)
Aggron (Lv. 72, Elite Advanced)
Bastiodon (Lv. 67, Elite Intermediate)
All three were high-level Elites.
"One opponent each! I'll take Tyranitar. Solgaleo close in with Metal Claw!"
Solgaleo's golden mane flared with light as it lunged forward. Its massive foreleg glowed white before raking across Tyranitar's armored hide.
Crash!
The impact left deep gashes across Tyranitar's chest. The beast roared in agony, staggering back several steps.
"Now! Kartana, Sacred Sword strike Aggron down!"
Master Lin's Ultra Beast, Kartana, moved like a blade of living origami. Its thin, razor-like arm gleamed with Fighting-type energy before slicing in a clean arc.
The Sacred Sword cut straight through Aggron's defenses, the blow striking with four times the effectiveness against its Steel/Rock typing.
"Ghhraaaah!"
Aggron collapsed to one knee, its stamina nearly drained in one blow. Were it not for its iron body and sheer durability, the strike would have been fatal.
"Bastiodon's mine! Aerodactyl, Rock Slide!"
Xiao Wang's fossil Pokémon swooped down, conjuring massive boulders in mid-air before hurling them with crushing force.
Boom!
The rocks slammed against Bastiodon's defensive face-plate, rattling the earth with the sheer force of the impact. Though Bastiodon endured, cracks spiderwebbed across the ground beneath it.
"Tyranitar again, Solgaleo finish it! Metal Claw!"
Solgaleo's claws shone once more, and with another vicious swipe, the Legendary brought the rampaging Tyranitar crashing to the ground. The pseudo-legendary's cry echoed before its body went limp, utterly defeated.
One of Bai Mao's strongest Pokémon had fallen in less than half a minute.
Meanwhile, Kartana pressed its offensive. Its sharp movements were too quick for Aggron to track, and another Sacred Sword slashed across its chest. The armored titan collapsed at last, crashing into the dirt with a thunderous thud.
On the other side, Aerodactyl circled and unleashed a second Rock Slide, overwhelming Bastiodon's already battered defenses. The dinosaur-like shield Pokémon let out a low groan before collapsing in defeat.
The battlefield fell silent except for the panting of the victorious Pokémon.
"Good work."
Chen Xiaoxiao wasted no time, ordering Solgaleo to forcibly unseal and disable Bai Mao's remaining Poké Balls, stunning the Pokémon within before they could be released.
Xiao Wang stepped forward with a tranquilizer kit, injecting the subdued Pokémon one by one before resealing them into their capsules.
"With his lineup neutralized, we're safe to move him."
"Right," Lin confirmed, exhaling with relief. "Let's return to the Gym before anything else happens."
Chen Xiaoxiao recalled Solgaleo into its Poké Ball briefly before releasing it again for transport. "We're ready. Solgaleo, take us home Guancheng Gym."
The Legendary's eyes glowed, and with a burst of cosmic light, the group vanished, reappearing in the Guancheng Gym battlefield moments later.
"Master!"
A waiting Gym trainer rushed forward, clearly stationed there in advance for this very moment.
"Bind him and deliver him to my office. Inform Xiaotian and Mina to meet me there."
"Yes, Master!"
The trainer swiftly cuffed Bai Mao, shackling both his hands and feet before commanding his own Tangrowth to bind the man in layers of Vine Whip for extra restraint. Then he dragged the unconscious poacher toward Lin's office.
"Come, Xiaoxiao, Xiao Wang. You both need to rest."
Chen Xiaoxiao recalled Solgaleo, and together the three followed Lin into his office.
As the door closed behind them, Chen Xiaoxiao finally let out a long exhale. "At last… this operation is nearing its end."
"Yes," Lin agreed. "Xiao Wang, I'll trouble you to handle the interrogation."
With both Prince Hui and Bai Mao captured, the syndicate's backbone had been broken. Cleaning up the remnants would be a matter for Guancheng's law enforcement.
Xiao Wang nodded, summoning his Hypno once more. The Psychic-type's eyes glowed as it began to probe Bai Mao's mind for intelligence.
Mina entered with a clipboard, recording every word as Xiao Wang relayed what Hypno uncovered.
Chen Xiaoxiao leaned back, barely paying attention she trusted the others to handle the details. Her own exhaustion was catching up, and her empty stomach reminded her she had not eaten since midday.
"Thank you, both of you, for your hard work today. Stay here in Guancheng tonight," Lin said firmly.
Chen Xiaoxiao and Xiao Wang both nodded without protest.
"Mina, see them to the hotel to rest. Xiaotian mobilize the authorities at once. We'll sweep up the remnants of Bai Mao's forces before dawn."
"Yes, Master!"
With that, Mina led Chen Xiaoxiao and Xiao Wang to a nearby inn arranged for Gym staff, ensuring they had rooms for the night. Meanwhile, the wheels of Guancheng's justice began turning swiftly, the downfall of the poaching syndicate finally set in motion.
