c143 Quick, Accurate, Ruthless!
Chen Xiaoxiao, who was secretly complaining in her heart, took out her Pokédex to check the time.
It was already past 7 o'clock in the evening more than two hours had passed since the beginning of the operation.
"Master Lin, I'll escort Prince Hui back to your Guancheng Gym, and we'll regroup at Dongtai afterwards," Chen Xiaoxiao said after a brief discussion.
After exchanging contact details with Gym Leader Lin and Xiao Wang through their Pokédex devices, she spoke firmly.
"Alright, thank you for your hard work, Xiaoxiao. When you reach the Gym, just hand him over to Xiaotian."
Gym Leader Lin gave a sharp nod, his eyes calm despite the urgency.
"Aerodactyl, let's go!"
Lin and Xiao Wang simultaneously released their Aerodactyl, both fossil Pokémon spreading their wings with a shriek before soaring into the night sky, headed straight for Dongtai.
"Solgaleo, we move!"
Chen Xiaoxiao mounted the Legendary Pokémon. Solgaleo's mane glowed with cosmic energy, its golden armor-like body radiating strength as it nodded silently.
The beast teleported in an instant, carrying Chen Xiaoxiao and the unconscious Prince Hui who had been sedated earlier during the confrontation in Guancheng's outskirts toward the Gym.
In just a few flashes, Solgaleo arrived at the battlefield inside the Guancheng Gym.
A Gym staffer, who had been tidying up after the earlier battles, froze when the space warped open and Solgaleo appeared. His panic turned into relief the moment he recognized Chen Xiaoxiao astride the Legendary Pokémon.
"Where is Lin Tian, your acting Gym Leader?" Chen Xiaoxiao asked briskly.
She remembered him well; he had assisted during the raid on Hui's forces earlier. Lin had told her that Lin Tian, his younger cousin, was temporarily serving as acting Gym Leader.
"Miss Chen, please wait! I'll notify Brother Tian immediately."
The trainer dashed inside, returning moments later with Lin Tian, who was still catching his breath from the sudden summons.
"Solgaleo, hand him over."
Solgaleo's eyes flared blue as it used Confusion, levitating the limp Prince Hui and several sealed Poké Balls forward.
"Lin Tian, this man and these Pokémon please secure them."
"I understand. I've already received the full briefing from Master Lin. Leave it to me."
Lin Tian accepted the responsibility without hesitation.
"How are the Pokémon who were injected with the drugs?" Chen Xiaoxiao asked quickly.
"We've arranged medical personnel. Some have responded well to the antidote, but the number is large, so not all have recovered yet."
His expression was apologetic. The earlier ambush in Guancheng's outskirts had forced them to retreat in haste, and the effects of the stimulant drugs Prince Hui used on his Pokémon had been difficult to reverse. Unlike Chen Xiaoxiao's swift teleportation, Lin Tian and his squad had been forced to transport everything back manually.
"I see… good enough for now. Solgaleo, let's move."
Chen Xiaoxiao gave a short nod. Solgaleo roared softly before teleporting them out again, leaving Lin Tian silently envious of the Legendary's ability to bend space so effortlessly.
Moments later, Chen Xiaoxiao stood atop a rooftop near Dongtai. She opened her Pokédex and shared her coordinates with Lin, then closed her eyes. Through telepathy, she reached out to her Gardevoir, who remained in the psychic pocket-space to recover from earlier battles.
Sensing that Gardevoir's wounds had healed completely though her partner still felt emotionally drained Chen Xiaoxiao allowed herself a small sigh of relief.
"Rest well tonight, don't wait for me," she whispered gently into the telepathic bond before cutting the link.
By now, Gym Leader Lin and Xiao Wang had also arrived.
"Master Lin, do you know Baimao's exact location inside Dongtai?"
"Yes. His office is here."
Lin pulled up a 3D structural scan of Dongtai on his Pokédex, pointing to one of the rooms.
Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes glowed faintly blue. Extending her psychic senses, she swept the area, focusing on the designated room.
"Confirmed he's there. His emotions are unstable… I can feel his unease clearly."
She let the glow fade and reported back to her allies.
Rather than rushing in blindly, the group convened to prepare a detailed plan. The last encounter with Prince Hui's team was fresh in their minds; his ruthless order for an Elite-level Pokémon to self-destruct still haunted them. Another such Explosion would cause catastrophic collateral damage.
"Thank you, Xiaoxiao." Lin's tone carried both gratitude and guilt.
Xiao Wang, however, only shuddered inwardly. He thought to himself: She's as terrifying as ever. I'd never want her as my enemy. He still remembered how long their own injured allies from the earlier raid had needed to recover over two days before they even regained consciousness.
"It's fine. Being cautious saves us energy. Once inside Dongtai, any miscalculation could turn the entire area into chaos."
Chen Xiaoxiao's faint smile did little to ease the tension in the air.
"Prepare yourselves."
Her tone hardened instantly. Both Lin and Xiao Wang nodded in unison.
Her eyes flared blue again. In a blink, Solgaleo warped space and brought the trio straight into Baimao's office.
Baimao, who had been on edge ever since leaving Hui's office that afternoon, nearly jumped out of his seat when Solgaleo and the others suddenly appeared.
Before he could react, Chen Xiaoxiao's psychic energy surged. A lance of Confusion slammed into his mind, tearing through his defenses.
"Arghhh!"
Baimao screamed, clutching his head as waves of psychic pain overwhelmed him.
"Solgaleo, extract him!"
In sync, the Sunne Pokémon flashed brilliantly, teleporting them all Chen Xiaoxiao, Lin, Xiao Wang, and the writhing Baimao out of Dongtai and into a desolate suburb kilometers away.
The entire process, from psychic invasion to teleportation, took less than two seconds.
Baimao's tortured roar reverberated through the barren land, echoing so loudly that flocks of nearby wild Pokémon scattered in panic.
"Too noisy."
Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes gleamed blue once more. A second, sharper Confusion struck, and Baimao's eyes rolled back as he collapsed unconscious.
Xiao Wang shivered violently. He had already been chilled by the first scream, but seeing Chen Xiaoxiao coldly follow up with another psychic strike left him terrified.
This woman… she's not someone we can ever afford to cross.
