I'm bored. Everything here is boring. If I didn't have to get something from Dimitri, I wouldn't have followed him to this dumb auction.
My gaze strayed to the stage where another girl was being auctioned.
Ohh Lord, when will this stupid show end?!
Focusing on her, I figured out she's just another average looking girl. Nothing special...blue eyes, brown hair and tanned skin.
"GRACE JONES! AN 18 YEARS OLD VIRGIN, AS PURE AS UNTOUCHED SNOW. GENTLEMEN, HER PRICE BEGINS AT 15 GOLD BARS!"
Soon enough, she was sold off for twenty two gold bars as no one wanted to bid higher than that. I told you, average.
"DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMEN! WE SHALL TAKE A FIVE MINUTES BREAK, FEEL FREE TO STAND UP AND DO WHATEVER YOU WANT WITHIN FIVE MINUTES! WE HAVE MORE BEAUTIFUL GOODS IN STOCK FOR YOU, TILL THEN FELLAS." The emcee could be seen scurrying to the back of the stage before he even finished his sentence. I bet being in front of a large crowd made him nervous, poor guy.
"Didn't any of the girls catch your interest, Sire?" The man beside me asked with his gruffly voice in an attempt to start a conversation with me. Peasant.
I felt no urge to reply and simply moved away from him, making sure he noticed my lack of interest.
At a very young age of twenty two years, I would like to say I'm a bit too successful for my age, hence the attention I get from people everywhere I go. Things get a bit overwhelming at times but it's nothing I can't handle.
It's quite simple, just ignore everyone that tries to approach you and if they're sensible enough, they'll learn to leave you alone. I've practiced this through the years and I must say, it has earned me quite a reputation which I, of course embrace wholeheartedly. I don't give a shit about what people think of me.
I'm simply too great for that.
"AH, YES! GENTLEMEN, OUR FIVE MINUTES BREAK IS NOW OVER, PLEASE MOVE BACK TO YOUR DESIGNATED SEATS AS WE CONTINUE THE SHOW. AS PROMISED,, WE HAVE TRULY SAVED THE BEST FOR THE LAST." This time, it was another emcee that appeared on stage, I wonder where the other guy went to.
"SPEAKING OF THAT ,WE PRESENT TO YOU OUR LATEST CAPTURE ALL THE WAY FROM NEW YORK." Before he completed his sentence, I could see the guards carrying to the stage, a girl tied to a chair, with the way she barely struggled, I assume she was drugged before being brought on stage. With the sack covering her head, I can't figure out what she looks like except that she has a really pretty neck...swan-like if I must say.
The emcee adjusted his mic and I could see her jolt from her seat. Someone's finally regained their consciousness. The whole room was silent as if we were all waiting for something very special, which we really were.
The sack was finally lifted from her head and then I saw her. As soon as the bag came off, she squinted in an attempt to adjust her eyes to the brightness of the room.
Pale skin, black curly hair that seemed to be of waist length even though she was sitting down, delicate lips, a button nose and almond eyes that seemed to widen in realisation, I can't really see the colour from my seat. It looks like her brain was finally functioning as her expression slowly changed to a frightened one..
Overall, she has a really good appearance. A fragile one that would make you want to protect her from others and snap her neck if she ever tried to run away from you.
Her seemingly brown eyes roamed around the room as she took in her surroundings and soon enough, she began to sob. Haaa, what a beautiful sight to behold!
"IVY ANNIES, AN 18 YEARS OLD VIRGIN! WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO GET THEIR HANDS ON HER?! LOOK AT THOSE INNOCENT EYES AND ALLURING LIPS .IMAGINE HOW IT WOULD FEEL TO TAINT SUCH A YOUNG GIRL, MIGHT I ADD THAT SHE IS AS UNTAMED AS A WILD CAT. IMAGINE HOW IT WOUKD FEEL TO BREAK HER SOUL AND MOULD HER INTO WHATEVER YOU WANT." The auctioneer made a pause as if to let his words sink and it sure did because I could see those old fools getting ready to bid.
"GENTLEMEN HER PRICE BEGINS AT TWENTY GOLD BARS."
Her eyes widened for the umpteenth time tonight. I could see her trying to open her mouth in an attempt to to protest but she was unable to. Finally, she released the waterworks as fat drops of tears began to stroll down her face, this time, with greater intensity than before.
The auction began and oh boy! these old men are really eager to get their hands on her. My gaze strayed back to the stage again.
The spotlight shone on her and she exuded both beauty and vulnerability. The crowd buzzed with excitement, each man eager to make his bid, but I could see her eyes scanning the audience, searching for a hint of compassion in the faces of every man.
Finally, her gaze met mine for the first time and time seemed to freeze. Her eyes are beautiful. Her gaze ignited an instinctive urge to claim her as my own and protect her. But I won't claim her, she'll be a burden to me.
The auctioneer's voice echoed in the room once again and I could see more men making attempts to buy her. The stakes were getting higher and I didn't feel all too excited knowing that someone else would get to taint her instead of me.
Once again, our gazes met and this time, I saw something else in her eyes, a plea for help. She was begging me to buy her, her gaze unwavering and pleading.
"THIRTY GOLD BARS."
Damn, the bid was getting higher.
Her eyes seemed to widen again as she heard the amount of gold bars men were willing to spend to get their hands on her.
"FIFTY GOLD BARS!" She didn't look so surprised this time, looks like someone has accepted her fate.
Everyone kept mute for a moment as if they were contemplating on whether to bid higher than the last bidder or just let her go.
"GENTLEMEN, THE YOUNG LADY IS FINALLY BEING SOLD OFF FOR SIXTY GOLD BARS, IS THERE ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BID HIGHER THAN THAT?"
"Hundred gold bars." My mouth seemed to have a life of its own. I AM SHOCKED! I usually don't make such silly decisions without thinking about how it would benefit me. But this one...it seemed like she had pinned all her hopes on me and I felt a tiny urge to fight for her freedom.
The whole room was silent.
"H-hundred gold bars?" Even the auctioneer looked shocked.
"I hate to repeat myself Asher." He knows better than to make me repeat myself.
"Y-yes sir, I'm sorry sir. That's it gentlemen, hundred gold bars it is!" He announced again just to see if anyone would bid higher than that.
Not even a mad man would dare to bid higher than that.
"Anyone who wants to bid higher?" He asked again. Fool, no one would dare challenge me even if they had the money.
"Ah yes!" He finally understood the message and signaled the guards to move my property off stage.
"That'll be the end of the auction for today, the successful bidders should come to the backstage to claim their lots." The velvet curtains were drawn, indicating the end of the show.
