My eyelids felt heavy, my throat was sore. I couldn't see anything because of the bag on my head, my feet had gone numb and I could hear loud voices around me but I couldn't really make out what they were saying.
I felt paralysed.
Useless.
And hungry.
Where am I?
I tried to move my hands in vain, my arms and feet were tied to the chair I was sitting on.
I tried to break myself free but the ropes got tighter the more I tried to pull.
Suddenly, I heard a sharp sound and the whole room erupted into silenced.
Was that a microphone being adjusted?? Why do they have it??
The bag covering my head was finally removed and I had to squint to adjust my eyes to the brightness of the room.
All blood drained from my face as I took in my surrounding. I was tied to a chair in the middle of a stage with old filthy men casting lecherous gazes at me.
The attention made me squirm in my seat and if possible, try to sink further into my chair.
"IVY ANNIES, AN 18 YEARS OLD VIRGIN! WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO GET THEIR HANDS ON HER?! LOOK AT THOSE INNOCENT EYES AND ALLURING LIPS .IMAGINE HOW IT WOULD FEEL TO TAINT SUCH A YOUNG GIRL, MIGHT I ADD THAT SHE IS AS UNTAMED AS A WILD CAT. IMAGINE HOW IT WOUKD FEEL TO BREAK HER SOUL AND MOULD HER INTO WHATEVER YOU WANT." The man paused as if to let his words sink.
"Gentlemen, her price begins at 20 gold bars!"
My stomach churned as I finally put the puzzles pieces together.
I'M BEING AUCTIONED!
No no noooo, this can't be!
I have plans for myself! This can't be happening!
I'm human, not a commodity to be sold in the market! How could they?!
It's not even lega!.
I opened my mouth to protest only to find out my mouth was gagged.
Tears began to stream down my face again, this time, with a greater intensity at the thought that my life was about to be over. I finally broke into small sobs but no one seemed to notice, they were busy trying to sell and buy me.
At this point, I was certain I wouldn't be able to see my loved ones again and was about to be sold to a bunch of ugly old men...except the man with green eyes at the back of the crowd.
His eyes seemed to bore into my very soul and I noticed he hadn't spoken a single word the entire time he stared at me through the crowd.
He's hot.
Am I even supposed to be thinking about that at this point of my life?
But his gaze on me seemed pretty intense, I wonder he wants.
"He wants to buy you, silly." My subconscious reminded me.
My brain finally started working again as I broke eye contact with him. I don't know why, but the thought of him owning me didn't irritate me as much as the thought of these old men owning me.
Haha! A light bulb!
If he buys me, it would be safer and easy for me to escape. It wouldn't be easy if one of these men bought me instead.
I had accepted the fact that I would be sold and tried to devise a new escape plan as I silently prayed and fixed my gaze on the green eyed man again. As expected, he was still staring at me. I wonder why he hasn't made an attempt to bid yet.
"Thirty gold bars!" The emcee's voice broke my train of thoughts.
THIRTY GOLD BARS?!!
If I had thirty gold bars, I'd be set for life without having any need to ever work for the rest of my life! Too bad that much is being spent just to buy me instead. Well, it must mean I'm of great value.
Time seemed to drag on for an eternity and my price had finally reached fifty gold bars. No one had interest in bidding higher than that.
"Gentlemen, the young lady is finally being sold for fifty gold-"
"Hundred gold bars." The green eyed man finally opened his mouth. The whole room turned to look at the source of the voice, some gasped while some looked unfazed as if it was a normal thing.
The whole room erupted into a deafening silence.
"H-hundred gold bars?!" Even the emcee seemed shocked himself as he asked the man to repeat himself.
I bet one has ever been sold for such a ridiculously high price during any of his auctions.
"I hate to repeat myself Asher." His voice exuded authority.
"Y-yes Sir, I'm sorry Sir. That's it gentlemen, hundred gold bars it is!" The emcee announced hoping any one would bid higher than that.
Silence.
"Anyone who wants to bid higher?" He asked again.
More silence.
Hundred gold bars was an outrageously high price, even a crazy man wouldn't want to bid higher than that.
"Ah yes." The man finally understood the message as he signaled the guards to move me off the stage.
I tried to struggle once the guards held me and once again, a familiar smelling handkerchief was placed on my nose.
While passing out, I noticed one thing...the green eyed man never took his gaze off me.
