Chapter 78 - III:Moon Burial Altar

As the rotten oak cross slanted into the crack of the altar, Elisa's boot heel crushed the third bone-eating beetle. Moonlight leaked through the holes in the church's stained windows, condensing into festering purple spots on the stone slabs - the color was exactly the same as the poisonous flowers blooming from the thorns in Kane's heart.

"This is not a good place for sightseeing." Lucien's emerald ring flashed in the ruined confessional. Alyssa's taming whip wrapped around the hanging iron chain and swung across the collapsed nave. The ground suddenly collapsed, revealing the bronze crown bracket of the underground altar - a faded wedding bell hung on the thorn spikes, and the cracks on the surface were exactly the same as the carvings on Kane's bedpost.

When the moonlight shifted to a certain angle, the replica of the crown on the bracket suddenly came to life. Alyssa's thorn birthmark suddenly burned, and the vine pattern spelled out the silver wolf rune on the altar floor under her skin. When she touched the weeping relief on the base of the bracket, the blood on her fingertips was suddenly sucked into the cracks in the stone - the crown emerged in the moonlight with her silhouette, wearing a crown of thorns on her head, and her hands soaked in the mixed blood of Cain and Lucien.

"Mother..." She blurted out the name and shocked herself. The vines of the birthmark grew to her temple, and the dying scream of the first generation of Silver Wolf Queen exploded in her skull: "Run! Don't let the crown touch the twins!"

Lucien's claws pierced through the altar curtain. "So it's here!" He threw the engagement bell with a crazy laugh, and the blue blood on the inner wall of the bell splashed onto the bracket. The crown replica suddenly grew spikes, and Alyssa's projection began to materialize - the moment the phantom turned around to look at her real body, the image of Cain's heart pierced by thorns appeared in his pupils.

Kane's scepter smashed the stained glass window. The moonlight was dyed bloody and poured down, illuminating the secret inscription at the bottom of the altar: **When the twins' blood soaks the Buried Moon Land, the crown will choose a new master**. Alyssa's birthmark began to absorb the bloody moonlight, and the vines oozed fluorescent blue blood beads, drawing the outline of her mother's silver ring on the ground.

"Good girl, it's time to return the item to its rightful owner." Lucien suddenly grabbed her braid. Alyssa's eclipse flames instinctively shot out, but were absorbed by the emerald pendant on his chest - the gem had a miniature crown of thorns embedded inside it, which was frantically draining her flame energy.

The altar suddenly tilted. The moment Alyssa crashed into the bronze support, the replica of the crown suddenly softened and wrapped around her wrist like a living thing. The tip of Kane's scepter pierced her back, but only tore her robe - the lord's eyes were fixed on the altar wall, where the mural of the first king was slowly peeling off, revealing the hidden Silver Wolf family tree: Alyssa's name was listed side by side with Kane on the twin branches.

"A series of surprises." Lucien tore open his clothes, and the crown tattoo on his collarbone was bleeding. Alyssa's birthmark suddenly froze, and the vine pattern degenerated into a crescent-shaped scar when she was born. When she touched the indentation of the silver ring on the base of the bracket, the whole church suddenly began to sink, and the bottom of the altar could be heard with the cry of babies one after another - exactly the same cry as the night she was taken away from the delivery room by her mother.

When the moonlight was completely swallowed by the blood, the replica of the crown on the stand suddenly exploded. Alyssa grasped the largest fragment and found her mother's name and her birthday engraved on the back. Lucian's cold emerald light approached in the dust and mist, and the tip of his claws picked up half of the broken marriage contract - the silver wolf blood stains on the edge resonated with the crown fragment in her hand.

Kane's scepter swept across the ruins of the altar. Alyssa rolled along the ground to avoid it, and the crown fragments cut her palm. The moment the blood seeped into the fragments, there was a roar of broken chains from under the church - the spirit of the first king three hundred years ago broke out of the ground, and his dry fingers pointed directly at the birthmark on her heart.

When the moonlight pierced through the blood again, Alyssa saw the whole picture of the ruins: each piece of rubble was engraved with a miniature crying human face, forming a living wailing wall covering the entire ruins. Lucien's marriage contract suddenly caught fire, and a childhood portrait of Kane emerged from the ashes - under the boy's collarbone, there was a crescent birthmark similar to Alyssa's.
