Chapter 12 - Chapter twelve: Unlocking the real potential

It was a typical Saturday evening at school, with only a handful of students attending extra lessons. The hallways were quiet, and the atmosphere was peaceful. Linda wasn't one of the students attending extra lessons, but she had decided to come to the gym for some solo training. Sofia and Alex weren't around, and she liked the solitude. The gym was empty, and she had the space to herself.

As she practiced her kicks and punches, the sound of her breathing and the thud of her feet on the mat filled the air. She felt focused, her movements precise and controlled. But suddenly, she sensed a presence behind her. She paused, her instincts on high alert, and threw a defensive kick without hesitation.

To her surprise, Mr. Kwon caught her leg in mid-air, his movements swift and precise. She dropped her leg, shocked to see her Mr. Kwon standing behind her.

"Mr. Kwon!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with confusion.

"I must say, I'm impressed," he said, a hint of a smile on his face. "Your defending skills are top-notch."

Linda's cheeks flushed as she composed herself. "Thank you, sir."

Mr. Kwon's expression turned serious. "I'd like to talk to you, Linda. Let's step aside for a moment."

She followed him to a quiet corner of the gym, her curiosity piqued. "What is it, sir?"

"I've been watching you for a while now," he revealed, his eyes piercing. "And I must admit, I underestimated you. You're more than just a talented karate student; you have a natural flair for combat."

Linda's eyes widened, unsure how to respond. "Thank you, sir. That means a lot coming from you."

Mr. Kwon's gaze intensified. "If you're willing to push yourself beyond karate, I can teach you more. Much more."

Linda's confusion deepened. "What do you mean, sir?"

He smiled, a hint of excitement in his voice. "You have the energy and passion needed to learn more than just karate. I've been training in this school for years, and I know a hidden potential when I see one. Follow me."

Linda hesitated, unsure what to expect, but Mr. Kwon's enthusiasm was infectious. She trailed behind him as he led her to a door she had never noticed before. It was tucked away in a corner of the gym, and she had never thought much of it.

Mr. Kwon produced a master key and unlocked the door, revealing a dusty exercise room. The room was dimly lit, and the air was thick with dust. Linda's eyes adjusted slowly, and she saw old exercise equipment scattered around the room.

"This is just a cover," Mr. Kwon said, walking to the wall and placing his hand on a hidden panel. A scanner flashed, and a hidden door swung open.

Linda's eyes widened as she stepped inside. The room lit up, revealing a state-of-the-art training facility. There were gun shooting ranges, archery stations, and equipment for wall climbing and other specialized skills. The room was vast, with high ceilings and a polished floor.

"Welcome to the real training ground," Mr. Kwon said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "This place was once used to train special students, but it was shut down after an accident. I've kept it a secret all these years, but I believe you're ready to learn what I have to offer."

Linda's mind reeled as she looked around the room. She saw targets set up for gun shooting, and archery equipment that looked advanced. There were also climbing walls and obstacle courses.

"You attended this school?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Mr. Kwon nodded. "Yes, I did. And I was trained in this very room. Now, I'm offering you the same opportunity. But it has to be a secret between us. Can you keep that promise?"

Linda's heart pounded as she considered the offer. Mr. Kwon continued, "You once said my kung fu club was too big for you, but the truth is, it's too small for you. You have potential that goes beyond what I can teach you in the club. Will you learn from me, secretly, every Saturday?"

Linda's eyes locked onto Mr. Kwon's, and she nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, sir. I'll do it."

Mr. Kwon smiled, a sense of satisfaction on his face. "I knew you'd be interested. Let's get started, shall we?"

Linda nodded, her heart racing with excitement. She had no idea what lay ahead, but she was ready to take the leap.

As she looked around the room, she saw the possibilities. She saw herself training with guns, climbing walls, and mastering specialized skills. She felt a sense of purpose, a sense of belonging.

Their first training session began with gun handling. Mr. Kwon taught Linda how to hold a gun, how to aim, and how to shoot. She was a quick learner, and her accuracy improved with each shot.

Next, they moved on to archery. Linda had never held a bow before, but she was fascinated by the precision and focus required. Mr. Kwon guided her through the proper stance, grip, and release.

As the weeks went by, Linda's skills improved dramatically. She became more confident in her abilities, and Mr. Kwon was impressed with her progress. They trained in various areas of the secret facility, from gun shooting to hand-to-hand combat. Linda kept her training as a secret from her friend and everyone.

One day, Mr. Kwon took Linda to a part of the facility she hadn't seen before. It was a large, dimly lit room filled with obstacles and challenges. "This is where we test our skills," Mr. Kwon said, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Are you ready to see how well you've done?"

Linda nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. Mr. Kwon led her to a starting point, and with a nod, she began the course. She navigated through tunnels, climbed walls, and dodged obstacles. When she finished, Mr. Kwon was grinning.

"You've done well, Linda," he said. "But there's still much to learn. Are you ready to take it to the next level?"

Linda's eyes sparkled with determination. "Yes, I'm ready."

Mr. Kwon nodded. "Good. Because the real challenge is just beginning."

Over the next three Saturdays, Linda's training intensified. Mr. Kwon pushed her to her limits, testing her physical and mental endurance. They trained in various areas of the secret facility, honing her skills in gun shooting, hand-to-hand combat, obstacle course training, stealth and surveillance, and strategy and tactics.

During public holidays, Linda would sneak out to meet Mr. Kwon at school. He'd let her in, and they'd train in the secret facility. Mr. Kwon's special staff status gave him access to the school's gate key, allowing them to train undisturbed.

Their training sessions were intense and focused. Linda's progress was remarkable, and Mr. Kwon was impressed with her dedication and natural talent.

By the end of the third Saturday, Linda had transformed into a skilled and confident operative. Mr. Kwon nodded in approval. "You've completed your training, Linda. You're ready for whatever comes next."

Linda smiled, feeling proud of herself. "Thank you, Mr. Kwon. I couldn't have done it without you."
