Not a single thing could be heard around me, and my entire world was black because of using my talent.
It took about one hour until I was able to pick up the sounds of the other Terrans walking around me. Then, a few moments later, I was able to hear their voices clearly, but I was not able to tell where they were coming from.
"Dr. Fulkore, are you alive there?" I heard Donivon ask me as soon as I started to get my hearing back.
"Yes, I can hear you". I said in response to his question.
"Were you able to find out how we could open the door?" I heard Dr. Jhonson asked me from inside the darkness.
"I was able to find what was missing from the pedestal that should grant us access to the secrets that are just beyond the door. Before I can tell you exactly what we need to open it, let me get my vision back." I said to him as I was able to final start seeing shapes and shadows but nothing else.
It took about five minutes for me to be able to see clearly and as soon as I was able to do so I rose to my feet and rushed over to the pedestal in the room where I saw Dr. Jhonson is standing, waiting for my report on what I had found.
"Since I now have all of my senses back, I can tell you what it is that we are currently missing to get to the other side of this doorway".
As soon as I spoke, Dr. Jhonson looked up from the tablet that he had resting on his right hand.
"During my dive into the history of the pedestal in between us I was I was able to discover that there used to be a black cube that was powered by what looked like Paradisus om it. They had used it as a power source. When the Paradisus has energy that is channeling through it, the energy gets converted into a single beam that opens the door whenever it contacts the opening.
"Wow so your talent is for real. You can truly dive down into the purpose of the artifacts that you touch. This talent that you were born with is amazing". He said to me with a sparkle of excitement in his eyes.
"I told you that you should stop acting that way towards me". I said to him in a serious tone.
"Yeah, you are right, sorry, sir." He said to me as he started to look back down to his tablet.
"Well now that you know what we are missing, we need to find the original power source."
"Based on the description of what you were explaining was the original power source that was used to open the door, I have found it." Dr. Johnson said as he pulled up the item that I had seen in my vision.
The picture was the same as I saw when my talent was active except for the fact that the Paradisus was shattered in the picture.
"Yes, this is exactly what I saw in my vison" I told him as I grabbed him by the shoulders. "Go and get it right away. We need to find it so that we can get to the other side of the door."
"Then let me go and get it". he said with almost as much excitement as I currently had.
Dr. Jhonson left the ruins in a rush and quickly came back while carrying a steal briefcase in his right hand.
As he returned, he opened the case, and inside, I saw the cube shaped power source from my vision.
I grabbed it and put it on the top of the pedestal, and it fit as perfect as a glove would on a hand. Then, the power source became locked into place.
I pulled out the shattered Paradisus from the socket in the top of the power source. Then I threw it onto the ground, which caused it to shatter into a bunch of tiny pieces around me.
"I really do not understand why you would do that?"
"Simple it was totally useless for me. I need to replace this Paradisus crystal to get through the door."
"Well, I mean, I thought that the Paradisus would have to be replaced to get this box working whatever purpose it would serve." Dr. Jhonson said to me as he handed me a blue crystal that matched the one that was formally in the power source.
As soon as he handed me the refined Paradisus crystal, I could feel the energy that was inside want to try and escape from it. I quickly placed it into the open socket. When I did this, there were white lines that became lit up as the energy in the cube began to build up. Then the I started to see a small amount of electricity start to build up around the Paradisus until it shot a single beam of energy into the opening in the door.
Then, the entire door began to light up before it opened by splitting down the middle and sliding both to the left and the right at the same time.
"Open says me" Dr. Jhonson said as the door became completely opened, and we all started to walk into the room.
"Come on, Dr. Jhonson, you need to take this seriously. We are one step closer to both finding a cure for our employer's decease and proving my academic theory." I said to him as I looked at him with a look of disappointment.
I truly did not know if I could tolerate Dr. Jhonsthat were all inside on for much longer because I truly think that he is so annoying if I was not restricted by the laws of The Terran Collective I know that I would save the entire galaxy from having to hear his annoying voice ever again.
I walked through the open door, and as soon as I walked into the next room. As I did, the room began to light up as if the light were thermally sensitive.
The room was a long rectangular shaped room that had walls made of the same material as the rest of the ruins. On both sides of the room, I saw rows of octopus like robot bodies that were inside glass containers.
The sight of this made me insanely happy because that meant that my theory was true, and that all the members of the academic community would have to take back all their insults about how insane they thought that I was for having a theory like this.
"This is it. My theory has now been proven to be fact." I said as I walked to the end of the hallway and touched a container that had an octopus like robot that looked a little bit more detailed in design as if it was in charge.
Then a group of different Terran scientists that were all wearing white lab coats and the female that was leading them was carrying a scanner and she pushed me out of the way to start scanning the robotic lifeform that was in the container in front of me.
"Please get out of the way. We have a lot of data to gather now". The lead female scientist said to ne as she pushed me out of the way, which made me lose my balance and fall on my face.
"Do you not know who I am?" I asked the female scientist as I rose to my feet.
She did not respond at all to my words as if she did not hear me. I wondered why she did not react to me at all and I tried to get her again by stepping in front of her but she just pushed me back onto the ground without even looking my way as if I did not matter to her at all.
Then Dr. Jhonson walked over to me and began to speak to me. "This conversation is for you, Dr. Fulkore."
I grabbed the communicator from him, and as activated, a white projection of my employer came into view.
"Why won't they listen to me? I thought you said I had full control of what happens at the dig site." I said to him as I tried to control my frustration.
He looked at me as he narrowed his eyes and shifted the conversation into a very serious tone.
"You see, I only told you what you wanted to hear. I was never interested in your theories. The only thing that ever mattered to me was finding my cure at all costs.
You were willing to go and find it for me just to prove your stupid theory." He said to me as he floated in his tank.
"Are you telling me that you used me?" I asked him, which made me angry at the thought of him using me.
"Yes, I used you. I use all my employees. That is all that they are good for. Don't take it personally, but it is just business.
As I heard him say that I became filled with explosive anger.
"I will tell you now! I am going to make you pay with your dear life for using me in such a way! Mark my words!" I yelled at him as I stared to wave my open hand at him.
"You can try, but you will never be able to touch me from across the galaxy." He said to me as he started to laugh.
The communicator shut off, and I threw it on the ground to shatter because of the rage I was feeling.
Since I had nothing left to lose, I chose to see how deep I could use my talent to dive into the history of the main container.
When I dived down into the first level, I lost my sight, but nothing was happening, so I lost my hearing so I could dive in a bit deeper.
As I dove deeper, I was able to start seeing a fussy image, so to deepen the dive, I lost my sense of small. After that, the visual parts began to take shape but were still a bit fussy.
I immediately gave up my taste so that I could dive deeper. As soon as I did, I was able to see clearly, but I could not hear anything.
I noticed that I was in a room that was very similar to the one that my body was currently in. the difference was that the container was open and empty. I saw a robot that looked like the octopus that I saw a few minutes ago.
He started to talk, but I could not hear a single word.
I chose to lose my sense of smell so that I could start to hear his words. That did not work, so I sacrificed my sense of touch, which did not help me at all.
This made me mad because I was so close to finding out the truth. There was only one way to get the answers that I was looking for. I had to take the level six dive.
The level six dive is supposed to let me merge with the artifact on a level that was so deep that very few Terrans that have ever had this kind of talent have even dared try it, but I had nothing else to lose to I did it anyway.
As I dove past the final wall, I felt as though I had become one with the artifact, and I could hear its thoughts.
"I will purge the Osdronians that betrayed me".
"Hi I am Dr. Fulkore, and I was curious about the secrets of this artifact." I told the robot.
"If that is what you desire, if you allow yourself to entirely merge with the artifact, then I will be able to tell you more than you could imagine about my race."
I chose to sunder to the knowledge because I had nothing else to be concerned about.
As soon as I did, I noticed that my eyes opened and I was in the container looking from the other side of the glass.
The next thing that I did was break the glass with a single punch, and I fell to the ground on my hands and knees.
"Look Dr. Jhonson, it is alive." Donivon said as he pointed his gun at me.
Everything around me was green except for the people they were all blood red. As I saw Donivon draw his great sword without even thinking, I threw a quick punch with my right hand, which sent him flying out of the ruins and onto the desert floor.
Then, the red color that I sensed from him faded into a blue color.
I rushed at Dr. Johnson with an urge to kill him at any cost.
As I made my way to him, I started to crush his windpipes and was satisfied at the sight of it.
"Who…are…you…what…do…you…want?" he asked me while I was starting to choke the life out of his eyes.
"I am Fulkore of The Fulkore Collective, and I want to end your life." I said to him before I threw him at the left wall of the ruins.
