Chapter 268 - Chapter 268: Why Body Tempering?

Chapter 268: Why Body Tempering?

Ling Shuangxue looked at Luo Wusheng, now lying completely lifeless and free from worldly desires, feeling both amused and concerned.

The embarrassment she had been feeling also dissipated.

As one of the parties involved, she naturally understood what had just happened.

Luo Wusheng's newly created dual cultivation technique may have intensified the charm effects, but it didn't make one lose their senses.

During the experience, she'd mostly just cycled through a few recurring thoughts: Is this enough? Maybe one more time, since he's leaving soon? Just this last time!

And here they were.

Thinking back on her earlier state, Ling Shuangxue felt her face flush slightly, but she also found it amusing that her usually assertive partner had been turned into his current state by the very technique he himself had devised.

'Maybe after this experience, he'll be more restrained about asking to dual cultivate in the future…' she thought, gently pressing his hand in hers.

Now that she noticed her partner's remarkable recovery abilities, just as he'd claimed, her worry eased.

He was already regaining some color in his cheeks, though she still felt a sense of strangeness.

Her spiritual energy had surged significantly from this nearly exhaustive session, bringing her closer to the late Nascent Soul stage.

While spiritual energy gained through dual cultivation tends to accumulate quickly yet be somewhat unstable, her years of foundational work at Sword Sect and her flawless Sword Heart had largely mitigated that instability.

'Can dual cultivation really yield this much spiritual energy…?'

This was her first real encounter with such knowledge.

But if she could gain this much every time, then theoretically, with consistent sessions, she'd soon reach the late Nascent Soul stage.

Although she wouldn't actually attempt something so extreme, it was still unbelievable.

Advancing from early to mid Nascent Soul had taken her years.

At this moment, she began to seriously consider the possibility that her partner had a legendary cauldron physique.

The Diabolic Saint Physique hadn't been heard of since ancient times, but it wasn't entirely impossible.

Her train of thought was interrupted as a faint golden light began to radiate from Luo Wusheng, who had unknowingly closed his eyes.

'…So this is the body tempering technique he modified the dual cultivation technique for?'

She'd noticed that her partner rarely refined the spiritual energy they generated together into his own power.

She had a guess as to why: the transition from Golden Core to Nascent Soul was a critical one, especially at the moment when the Nascent Soul opens its eyes to choose a Heaven and Earth Dao compatible with oneself.

This Dao would become fully integrated during the Tribulation Crossing stage, dictating one's power level at and beyond that stage.

Some exceptionally talented cultivators choose to suppress their breakthrough at the peak of Golden Core to harmonize with rarer Dao insights… but in the Demon Sect, known for its free-spirited nature, it's unheard of for one of its prodigies to follow such a path.

Yet her partner, the Demon Sect's Holy Saint, was an exception.

He'd held back his cultivation to such a degree that it was difficult to ascertain his precise level, even able to contend with ordinary Nascent Soul cultivators effortlessly.

Had she not been able to sense through dual cultivation that his dantian was somewhere between Golden Core and Nascent Soul, she might have doubted her initial judgment.

But she had no intention of questioning him about this, just as she'd never inquired about how he became acquainted with her own disciple.

Luo Wusheng was lost in thought, only just emerging from the abyss of emptiness.

Let's go over what he gained from this near-enlightening dual cultivation session.

Firstly, he was left as a limp and tingling salted fish.

Exhausted of all strength, Luo Wusheng found himself wracked with an unrelenting tingling sensation, a side effect of having consumed most of the tribulation lightning that is left behind on his shoulder by the little pink fox.

At least it was half-gone now.

'At this point, the lightning paralysis effect should be effective up to the Nascent Soul level… although the attack power still lingers around the late Golden Core stage. If I fully unleash it, it'll be around Peak Golden Core level.'

With his current resistance to lightning and recovery rate, facing the standard Nascent Soul tribulation lightning when advancing to Nascent Soul should be easy.

Apart from this, there was another gain.

Within his brow, the seal formed from the Headless Buddha's gold blood flickered faintly. With a slight mental nudge, about a quarter of it pulsed, though it stilled again as he withdrew his focus.

This was something he hadn't noticed before. His initial attempts to refine the golden blood had yielded little result due to the difficulty, and he hadn't detected any unique traits.

Now, however, it was very clear.

'The golden blood, unlike nether blood, doesn't dissipate after using the Hemal Sanguine Technique. Instead, it becomes fully controllable… no wonder the seal remains stable despite refining it.'

Unless he willed it otherwise, the seal would remain intact. On the flip side, his recovery rate post-refining wasn't as strong as when refining Nether blood.

Reflecting on the knowledge he'd gained from the refined golden blood, Luo Wusheng fell silent.

'A Buddhist Golden Body… or rather, a modified Buddhist Golden Body…'

This was a technique for stealing the cultivated golden bodies and avatars of Buddhists to forge his own. A technique like this…

'Is perfect for me!'

He would inevitably encounter hostile Buddhists in the future, so there would be plenty of opportunities to practice this technique.

The Headless Buddha clearly had a bone to pick with the Buddhist sects, having developed a counter to their techniques. It even left a trace of its power in the golden blood, helping him cross the initial threshold. What a generous senior!

Savoring the faintly enhanced physical power coursing through his body, Luo Wusheng mentally handed that senior a "kindness card" from within the hidden realm.

Just that… with his current weakness, he couldn't quite gauge his body's new strength.

His waist, in particular, still ached.

'Come to think of it… body cultivation should also strengthen my waist, right?'

If that's the case, in the future, he might even have an indestructible kidney.
